    Holy cow. That monitor is nice. I would have killed for that back when I did my last z80 board, back in 1990 or so. You make great use of the 4 lines available in the LCD, love the disassembly and the integration with the UART for hex loading and the BASIC. Very neat!

    As someone who programmed assembler on a zx spectrum in 1982, seeing this all these years later is really amazing - how an open source app can translate hex into ops code is brilliant. So nice to see the Z80 used and and developed against

      There are plenty of programs out there than can do this, and the opposite too. Pasmo is a good Z80 assembler. The interest in Z80 is huge and there are a number of different projects based on it. This one seems to be the most comprehensive of them. Retro is big. I myself have two different Z80 based boards for those nostalgic moments. And yes, my screen name is homage to the great machine itself. 😉

    I didn't realise it has Basic when I saw you in Sydney, I think I'll have to hurry up and build mine now!

    I still have my old TEC-1 some wear and I think it would still work but I like the look of the TEC-1G.

      Aww, I did have a fan club but it didn't last too long. It only had one member, my mum.

    What keycaps and switches do you use?

    • @ReadyZ80
      @ReadyZ80  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Low Profile Gateron switches and generic caps from AliExpress

    This is an excellent monitor! Wow… A quick question, can you swap the up and down switches in software as they hurt my head being swapped on the board…

    • @ReadyZ80
      @ReadyZ80  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I know it looks odd. Plus is the bottom key and Minus is the top. But I use Up key cap as the Plus and Down as the Minus. Software can't fix this but having a more appropriate key cap will....

      @@ReadyZ80 no worries… I think a minus and plus key caps would help!

    I like the TEC-1 Computer, times were simpler then, less troubles, lower speed. Girls were girls and men were men, Mister we could use a man like Herbert Hoover again. The TEC-1 is an honest hardworking computer. What would happen if we reintroduced this computer back into schools, so that young people learned logic the way it should be, yes is yes and no is no. Some 40 years ago it worked fine.

      Well considering that the designer of the TEC-1 was and is a proud socialist, that's the biggest pile of bullshit I've ever heard! 😂 Glad you liked my computer though! 😊

      Anyway the TEC-1G is newest generation of the classic hardware. The benefits of forty years of hindsight. Brian has done an amazing job on the new monitor ROM!

      @@jhlagado1 LOL! Well I, as the designer of the 1G, and an ardent Anarcho-Capitalist/Libertarian, would 100% agree with the OP. :)
