    As a eurorack synth user I'm looking forward to getting lush reverbs like this without having to spend 600 euro on a dedicated eurorack module (used MPX500 are far less expensive). This is exactly the type of sound I want from a dedicated reverb. Thanks for this lovely demonstration.

      MPX500 packs a lot within the price you pay. I had PCM80 and it can do more tricks and sounds, but with much more programming. I did some side to side videos and have some more to come (if I find the time :) ... but to cut the long story short... simplicity and sounds of MPX500 are good enough for my needs. I wish you much fun with it!

      Thank you 🙂 MPX500 can do excellent things considering the price range. I've created one comparison with PCM80, and another is on the way. PCM80 can go much further than MPX500 when programmed. Choruses of all sorts, multitap delays swirling around, diffusion that does wonders, reverbs with all sorts of goodness. On the other hand, MPX500 is simpler but still can do lovely things and with less programming. Also, with some reverbs MPX500 goes very close to PCM80. I wish you much fun with MP550!

      @BrankoOgorelec  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you :-) I never owned Strymon so I don't know. All I know this sounds amazing and Lexicon MPX500 is overlooked and underestimated. Recently I purchased PCM80 and I can say that MPX500 comes very very close to PCM80 when it comes to reverb. PCM80 packs more features, but if someone is looking for rack reverb primarily - I would say MPX500 is enough.

      @@chiefbucknell I haven't tried MX200. From what I see in manual, I don't think one can get this kind of reverb trail on MX200. It is a very nice reverb, but this is not included. As for MPX-1, that's excellent choice for everything. It can cover something similar to this without much programming, just by using native hall reverb with chorus modulation. And of course - it can cover many other lovely things needed by guitarists and musicians :)

    Was looking at the MX200 but this sounds waaay better. Wow! I love how the reverb tones back the next played notes into subtle over-tones ..
    Question; Does hardware reverb stack well?
    As in, does it duplicate off itself to make the trail even longer if you chain two of them together? I want to say it does, from my experience and educated guessing, but, not trying to speak for the hardware if all I have is software reverb, so far.
    Just wondering if I can get an even longer trail (I work in Ambient, where reverb is big, obviously) if I stack them (say like, two or three of them, even) to get up near like 10 or 20 or 30 seconds of reverb or more since the hardware has it's limitations and I might need more tail end later on ..
    Yes? No ? Stackable ?

    • @BrankoOgorelec
      @BrankoOgorelec  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't know how it behaves when you stack it. I only have one unit for reverb and it provides a trail that is long enough for my needs.

    does this spilt mono input to stereo output or both chanels? I have mono tube preamp and thinking to buy one.

    • @BrankoOgorelec
      @BrankoOgorelec  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is mono input to stereo output. These longer reverbs should be played/recorded stereo to get the maximum ambience out of it. From your mono preamp go to MX500. From MX500 go to stereo power setup (two studio monitors... stereo poweramp with two cabs... or two combo amps). Or run MX500 in FX loop, but then FX loop needs to be stereo with your rig having stereo output too.

    • @teemusekki1743
      @teemusekki1743 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BrankoOgorelec Sadly I don't have option for stereo fx loop. I have Koch Pedaltone pre amp and Palmer Match 402 power amp. Old KMD cab witch I have mod to stereo cab. Guy who sell this product test this kind a setup and it seems that its not work in mono to stereo... I think Alsesis Midiverb 4 have this kind a mono to stereo chance.

    • @BrankoOgorelec
      @BrankoOgorelec  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@teemusekki1743 From what I see, you should be able to connect MPX500 into your setup. From your preamp into the MPX500 mono. From MPX500 stereo into poweramp. MPX patches should not be wet only, there should be some dry signal coming through. That is one of 16 parameters on every patch you create, so it can be done. Your cab is moded to stereo, so poweramp can provide stereo signal to it. Soundscape will not be wide since it is only one box, but it is a good starting point. Later on you can have two separate cabs and place them apart to get better stereo soundscape.

  • @mdjababoe
    @mdjababoe 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    How 's the signal goes... guitar -> MPX500 -> amp? Or do you use a mixer/fx loop?

    • @BrankoOgorelec
      @BrankoOgorelec  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I had it connected like this: Guitar -> Vox Tonelab ST -> G-Major2 -> MPX500 -> Recorder. However G-Major2 was not used in this track at all. Also these days I will change the setup because I acquired Avid Eleven Rack. 11R will be replacing Tonelab, G-Major and even recorder since it has USB interface. MPX500 is now within FX loop of 11R.

      Branko Ogorelec Can you tell me the effects and parameters of that patch? I have a Lexicon MPX300 that has only 99 patches, none of which is the abyss.

    • @BrankoOgorelec
      @BrankoOgorelec  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Bob sorry - somehow I missed your comment. I don't know if you can do this with MPX300. Abyss program is some sort of pitch before reverb. Avalanche of ascending/descending pitch detunes are hitting reverb. I tried recreating this with dual programs of pitch into reverb but it never sounded exactly the same. Close though. I found somewhere that Abyss was created for PCM80 as additional program that came on a separate memory card. So for starters - do you have dual program "pitch into reverb" on MPX300? If so, I can make a short video with settings of my reverse engineered Abyss so you can try doing the same on MPX300.

    • @rblossey
      @rblossey 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You might be able to do this with the MX400-on that one, you can have a full-fledged stereo detune (w/delays & feedback, which you need here) and reverbs with the "full" set of controls (you can see those in the MX300 when you run just 1 algorithm, but you need the MX400 to run two "full" algorithms like that).
