    I came across this video while I was trying to understand the Catalan No as a Newbie. Now I think I have grasped the whole concept along with its applications.
    This is Brilliant. Thank you!!

    Great video. I was going through some of these problems from EPI book and was puzzled when the explanation for time complexity mentioned that these are Catalan numbers. Googled for it, and found your video! Damn, the amount of work you put in for this one video is just astonishing.

      I Don't think my friends/family would appreciate it. they're typical Indians with a test in overly melodramatic movies and tv.
      With no mathematical background infect they're appalled by the very word "math" anyway the lecturer was really good 👍

    • @aadil4236
      @aadil4236 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Since we're at the topic,
      I would love to see proof for the nth Catalan number. The formula goes something like this 2(n-1)C(n-1)/n where n is the number of terms.
      I was watching one Abdul bari's algorithm lecture, and I came across the problem of matrix chain multiplication. For which I need to find the number of ways I can parenthesize all the terms And I got the above formula from the lecture I tried and looked at every website but I can not figure out how this formula came about. But if you can make a video about the proof that would be awesome.

    This was amazing you literally give the gist of how to see if the problem is solvable using catalan number. There could be one improvment though we can actually calculate catalan number in constant space using formula. Cn+1 = (2(2n+1) / n+2)*Cn.

    Doubt in problem N parenthesis with N+1 letters.
    a,b,c for 3 no's it should be C2 which is 2.
    these ways are possible.
    ((ab)c),(a,(b,c))
    (a)(bc),(ab)(c),((abc))

    Easy recursive way to get the Catalan numbers: Begin (1, 1,) dot (1, 1) = 2. Place the 2 on the right of (1, 1,) getting (1, 1, 2). Reverse and take the dot product of (1, 1, 2) and (2, 1, 1), getting (2 + 1 + 2) = 5. Then place the 5 to the right of 1, 1, 2, 5 and take the dot product of the reverse,(5, 2, 1, 1) getting (5 + 2 + 2 + 5) = 14. Put 14 to the right of the ongoing string getting (1, 1, 2, 5, 14) and take the dot product of the reverse, so dot product of (1, 1, 2, 5, 14) and (14, 5, 2, 1, 1) = (14 + 5 + 4 + 5 + 14) = 42., etc.
