I've had both the SKX and the SSK and the jump up in quality is noticeable. The bracelet feels like an aftermarket from strapcode, which is a good thing.
That's good to hear on the bracelet. I was thinking of getting one and wondering if I might need to get an aftermarket bracelet. I do wonder how it would look with a Strapcode Super-O style bracelet though. Now that I look, they have quite a few options for the SSK GMT. 🤔
There’s a few things they can do to make this watch perfect. Sapphire crystal. Bidirectional click bezel. Signed screw down crown. 200m rating. Milled clasp.
If you are using this watch for travel, the push in crown is a much better feature. You don't have to worry about cross threading the crown. Most GMTs, including Rolex, have a friction bidirectional bezel because that is what you do with a GMT watch. I am a long haul pilot, and I have to reset the time on my watches frequently as I cross many time zones and the dateline. I agree that sapphire would have been nice, and I would be willing to pay a few more dollars for that.
You gotta love Seiko!!! I am interested in micro brands but Seikos history and the fact that they are all in house, makes them a better value. Seiko should have jubilee options for more of their pieces. I recently purchased a sumo padi, I put it on a jubilee from strapcode and it added so much presence. Pre-owned mint condution, for 325$ . 6r movement, sapphire and finishing that rivals watches worth thousands more.
i agree with your comment, just one thing that Seiko is no micro brand. Seiko is the biggest watch company in Japan and its history and sales can even be compared to big Swiss brands.
I want it. Funny how people hated the 5kx cus of the water resistance. Swap the bezel and add a hand and all of a sudden everyone says it's an amazing watch.
6:16 24 hour display?? Am I mising something, or how does that dial show 24hr time?? Does the hour hand on the watch really run at half the speed of a normal watch??
I’ve heard mixed reports. I’ve had my SSK003 for just over a month, however, and the accuracy on mine has been impressive (and much more consistent than my Alpinist with a 6R35). But your mileage may vary.
I’m waiting for a white dial or gilt/ rose gold version. Looking forward to seeing how this model evolves. Awesome review. What is that insulated coffee mug?
45.6 lug width? You meant lug to lug, the lug width refers to the space between the lugs. Overall very nice and thorough review. Hope to see more reviews like this.
The Sugess GMT is way better as it has a bi-directional bezel that glides just like a Rolex and actually locks in place unlike the Seiko you have there also the San Martin and the cronos gmts are also better and since they're all right around that same price I would suggest any of those three over that one
This Seiko SSK001 is listed at MSRP of $475. Never buy at this ridiculous price. If you are smart you will do a good research and be able to buy it for just $250 with free delivery and no tax. I did and of course bought it.....brand new.
A watch priced at 895 and now on sale for 695 because Marc realized his timing in the release was bad. Granted a watch with nice specs but almost twice the price.
These are nice, but the friction bezel and clasp kills it for me. A better option for a dive style GMT is the Glycine Combat Sub GMT. Better specs in every way, wears great and much slimmer. Would recommend it over the SSK for just a little bit more for around $550.
Again slowing the B-Roll to a crawl and makes the second hand look weird. You can fix this. Also it's not a travel watch hence the Office GMT. As one that travels for work the jumping hour is best.
Dude. Stop acting like setting your watch when you travel is like solving a Rubik’s cube. I’ve taken Chronographs, 3-handers, with dates, day/dates, and no-dates, as well as both traveller and caller GMT’s on international flights. This shit ain’t hard, no matter what you have on your wrist.

It's better than a strap code.

Exactly right that's what made the original skx used in movies and that made it iconic. That term is over used on watches but the original had that.
The sapphire crystal alone will be the best upgrade, followed by screw down crown, and remove that cyclops 😂

A lot of gmt watches only have 100m
With Seiko’s resources, they could produce that with a minimal increase in manufacturing cost. So, Seiko would double the price for the watch.
These are future classics. I have the 003 Bluebery.
What size wrists do you have?

We're all big Seiko fans!

We've always been fans
i just love the Jubilee bracelet style of this watch, so well fit with the watch.
Fit very well on your wrist. I don't know why on my 6.5 inch wrist, all 42mm watches seems bigger
I've own the blueberry and the tangerine...they are really lovely and best worth the money!
I’m so torn between the seiko and the Bulova Men's Marine Star 'Series C' Chronograph Quartz Watch. 😫
Nice review. This watch is quite tempting.
Thanks for watching!
Thinking of getting one but at this price it must have a sapphire crystal and screw down crown. Good review.
I like the look but not the size unfortunately. Anyone know if they will come out with smaller case sizes in the future?
Try the women's section
Just got one and I’ll change the bracelet for a tropic strap. What do you think?
6:16 24 hour display?? Am I mising something, or how does that dial show 24hr time?? Does the hour hand on the watch really run at half the speed of a normal watch??
The GMT hand is a 24 hour hand and there's a 24 hour scale on the rehaut.
wich colour is best blue or black
what's the other watch name? the one in the start of the video next to it please?
Does anyone know how this would wear on a 7.5 inch wrist?
Can you put it in an SKX case?
What is the lug width of this beauty?
How accurate is it and can u use it/did anyone used it for water?
How’s the accuracy?
Is it as bad / erratic / unreliable as the 6R?
I’ve heard mixed reports. I’ve had my SSK003 for just over a month, however, and the accuracy on mine has been impressive (and much more consistent than my Alpinist with a 6R35). But your mileage may vary.
Great review 👏👏
I found exact this one for 330 euros brand new, good deal?
Great deal!
Where did you find that deal please?
I don’t like the case shape, the hand set, the cyclops, or the bracelet. Yet I still want one somehow!
I’m waiting for a white dial or gilt/ rose gold version. Looking forward to seeing how this model evolves. Awesome review. What is that insulated coffee mug?
Your wish has come true. Check the SSK021. Just enough gilt
I have the blue one since new. Been sent by to Seiko three times and still does Not keep time.
This is my Monday to Friday watch. Love it. AP Saturday, Sub ,Sunday.
THis is a pretty cool watch tbh, great video
Thanks for watching
Great review, I just got 1 not knowing that this is a two tone bezels. I guess that’s makes it unique compared to non gmt watch.

Yes! You're correct there, thanks!
Very good review!
Thanks!
Hi, you said your wrist is 6.25 inch wrist but looks so wide, maybe someone has small but wider wrist
affordable is the Casio edifice ef 359 which looks premium for 120$ or so
I prefer the white pained markers on the Turtle and skx
Thank you. I have several and many beautiful mods .
the 5 logo and the font mismatch of GMT and Automatic make me vomit, but everything else is looking really nice
Which one will you buy between this (ssk001) or srpd055k1?
Why cant they make this in the 38mm version(skx013)?
Right?! We would love that!
I’m adding this watch
Yoo you’re from bk? Is there a possibility that you can help me look for a watch?? I’m from Long Island but can drive to bk
Yes! Head to the Windup Watch Shop.com to schedule a consult!
Thanks! Just got this watch last week 😊
Hope you enjoy it!
Love mine Should be called seiko Raider Raiders colors for sho
Why is your SKX automatic ticking like a quartz watch????
Most likely because we slowed the footage down and the sweep isn’t as smooth
Lightning for the close ups in b-roll needs helo. difficult to see details in the dial.

saphire glass i assume, from the price and the way it looks
To justify the “Best affordable GMT” tag would have necessitated comparison with other identified GMT watches in my view.
For the price point and it being mechanical there isn’t much to compare it too imo
The car analogy was weak, but I enjoyed the content here as always
Thanks for watching!
Well done.
$500 for hardlex. Seiko's major deal breaker
it's 280 right now on eBay lol
Its not comfortable. It always wants to rotate on the wrist, mainly due to the tall case back.
Just picked this watch up brand new for $285.
Just got mine today for $255!
Nice video
Thanks!
Would be so much better with a bi-directional clicking bezel, even if it was 120 clicks.
I don’t know why they went with the non clicking bezel. A bit of a let down considering how visually beautiful this line is.
Wrong. Islander republic

Great option, thanks for watching!
Great watch and a better placement for the crown if you ask me..
Also, what would recommend for around the 3k mark?
Beautiful ❤❤
It looks kind of small, must be the Mandela effect. The Skx was bigger.
Oceaneva GMT is a far better value over all
The best ? It can barely compare to San Martin , Phoibos , Seestern...
affordable is 200-300 $ not 400$ +
Again slowing the B-Roll to a crawl and makes the second hand look weird. You can fix this. Also it's not a travel watch hence the Office GMT. As one that travels for work the jumping hour is best.
Note taken! Several of us have used office GMT's for travel and have fun with them. Thanks for watching!

the glass case back is a disappointment
Can this watch be manually wound with the crown?
Yes.
