I find that I find just about everything dar sings entoxicated, the lyrics and guitar I would beinterested in chatting with others who are as taken by her music as I am.
Used to listen to this on K-Pig from Santa Cruz,CA. Laura Ellen, rip, played it. So did Mr. Hedge who has gone missing. Like me. ha. I'm gonna have to go visit them and see how things are going. Did they have to play pop to satisfy their sponsors? Ack!
Stop arguing about the singer of the song! Damn, people! Do you all argue about which flavor of ice cream or which color or which flower is 'best'? Just enjoy it for what it is...or not...or whatever! Humans always needing to declare something better than something else...always needing to down-talk something...depressing...
Exactly! Why do we organize things in our brains in some kind of order. This is a nice song written be Fred, and celebrated by Dar's cover. I like them both.
Fred enjoyed talking about becoming a lesbian songwriter. I feel the two perspectives complement one another. Both versions remind me of wild women I've loved and had to let go. Dar Williams voice might be less suitable for "I Shot Your Dog" than Fred's is and, unlike Fred, I never sold Dar any biodiesel for a tour-bus.
I used to only like this version, but I like both now. There is a third version of Fred doing it live, and he puts the capo on the first fret and moves the Key up to F Major, and plays it a little quicker. Try to listen to it sometime. I like all 3. : ) By the way...where is Dar? Hello...album? New songs?
I love hearing musicians sing from the POV of the opposite sex, not because I am gay-centric, but because I think it showcases the performer's ability to tell a story that is not their own and still make it heartfelt and believable. Dar does this in "Highway Patrolman" with equal impact. Another great example in the same vein is Rodney Crowell's "I Wish It Would Rain".
mhm I agree, Dar brings meaning to it that I don't feel with Fred's version. Then again with Rebel Rebel I prefer the original meanings it gets across the female covers just miss.
This comes from a great little disc, and continues to be one of my favorite Dar recordings (Darecordings???). Anyone still listening in 2019?
2021
Yep - 2021
Seeing her tomorrow night (October 29, 2021)!
2024 !
Just bought tickets to see her in 2024!
This song rocks! I love this!! Thanks for posting, I like this way more than Eaglesmith's version...
They both have their individual qualities and I like them both
She brings me joy. Her songs give me joy.
This has become an anthem for my dearest girlfriend and me. She is soo much more wilder than me. HEE HEE. Thank you for this great upload.
I find that I find just about everything dar sings entoxicated, the lyrics and guitar I would beinterested in chatting with others who are as taken by her music as I am.
In the vein of Tracy Chapman and Dolly Parton--when she sings, you feel like she's singing to you. That's what I've found.
I've never heard this cover before! Gosh she's great.
One just blows you down and the other blows the town away. I love her.
I think Fred wrote "one just blows through town; one blows the town away"
I like both her and Fred's versions, it's a great song... reminds me of a few of my exes
LOVE YOU, DAR!!!

Again, only half a photograph shows. (It's a picture of my art work.) I like my face in the comment area.

i am 7 and i love this song
Love this version!
I learned this song because I heard this version. She's great. Doesn't hurt she has those soft good looks that turn me to jello.
Saw Dar sing this at, I think, the Royal Festival Hall in London, tossing her hair back and stamping a foot. Wish she would come back.
damn i accidentally stumbled on this woman damn why aint i heard her before
Great songwriter in her own right. Check out Mortal City and The Honesty Room.
Dar is Great!

Byron Barsamian:"One just blows through town One blows the town away"
It's been made clear that I CAN and able to WALK/RUN when and if necessary. Concern appreciated as always.
A sassy, subtle love song.
It was on a limited edition "What Do You Hear in These Sounds" from 1997. Maybe you could search for it?
@13ChocolateMonkey i loved Dar when i was around your age:) you've got great taste, be proud!

Dar, all the way!!
I have to agree she's good. But I like Fred's version more.
This is a great rendition of Fred's song. It sounds like Fred singing harmony. Can anyone confirm that? Thanks. :)
He's not on it.
@@lewisc215 You're right. I listened again and that not his voice. Thanks! :)
FRED EAGLESMITH ALL THE WAY
I would love to buy this song as an mp3 so if anyone could tell me where i could buy or download it that would be great since it's not on itunes.
@Antidrugged Sing the Phone book, that's a classic. LMAO

Of course Dar's version is better than Fred's, but I'd go see him in concert in a minute. Dar too.
niiiice
@rodgetaylorjnr Because life is cruel sometimes.
Can you upload her song "Roadbuddy"
Love Dar...but shes' no Fred.... :)
cbkspa love both versions but Fred is the man. Dar is pretty good as well and is such a nice person.
Not than me you're not!
Fred Eaglesmith is a heck of a writer but he should leave the singing to this chicky
Bayshore Billiards Naw! He's also a good singer and he now works with an amazing female singer named Tif(forgot her last name).
Lesbian rock
Personal BAD taste, you mean.
I love Dar, she does this so well, however I wouldn't touch the fred eaglsmith version with a pole, hes a great writter but a horride singer
Tom Bruno He is a pretty good singer and he works with a GREAT singer named Tif.
Fred's a farmer, a skilled diesel mechanic, and far too rock and roll to care that you don't love his style.
