Was thinking similar - haha - why I find myself going ahead 10 seconds at a time to quicken pace as the banging is just too much.
Got me to thinking too - "passion" doesn't put food on the table - what kind of salary do these artist/fabricators draw?
Great work on part of both the team and the video/editing/commentary team.

Thanks for a great channel, i look forward to every wednesday to see your solid work.
Would it be possible to do a special episode where Kurt interviews everyone in the team? About their background, interest in military vehicles, how they got hired? There are probably many more questions to be asked, and i'm sure i'm not alone in wanting to see this.
    Greetings from Sweden 👋

I’ll tell you what, you are really presenting all this terrifically well. Each week we have just the right amount of commentary, variety, context, music etc. And each of these things is correct, not inane or comments out of place. It’s really well edited. Congratulations. 🙂.

I'm told they're down there in Oz land too. A kind of live role play/recreationist group of a more idealized middle ages, and I have picked up so may tricks and tips on working metal that I am starting the process of making myself new armor. Mostly 16 gauge with some 14 gauge pieces over critical areas And no one one but you lads to blame to so very inspiring! Salude!

Some one needs to buy these boys some better sheet metal working tools (brakes, wheels, presses etc.) so they’re not just winging away with hammers and vises. It’s like watching cavemen build a spaceship.

I love and appreciate your work preserving history. The part I have to be wary of is remembering when I work on my hotrod steel that it is MUCH lighter. lolol Same principles work, I just need a softer touch as my car isn't armor. I need to visit Melbourne, you've given me a travel adjustment to head north also that journey. Thanks for a different view of Quality Work !

These vehicles are all over the globe, not just France. Maybe this is just an exercise to keep the boys busy? But the time and materials would literally be better spent on fixing an automobile and reselling it, lol. There’s no value in these hulks when you can still buy examples in good kit. It’s not a rare Nazi tank or something.

I have no doubt that there are a bunch of panhard parts in one or more locations, the vehicle were ubiquitous in many armed forces. PLUS, there are actual Pandhard EBR 90s FOR SALE in various recent auctions and such. So the entire project is a huge waste of time unless it’s being put down to training or something.

Hi guys, I own a William/Proto 3/4” drive torque wrench which I purchased for one of my last overhead cranes built for Kimberly Clark Paper Co. in 2011 I retired later that year. I wondering if you guys might have a use or need of this torque wrench? I paid $530.00US but I’d give it to Ausarmour if you’d pay for the shipping and handling fee plus any of costs involved to ship it to your facility. Keep up the fun work I always look forward to Wednesday lol. Wish your videos were longer.

Kurt, because you are an over achiever, I have a challenge for you. A challenge I think every viewer and comments section reader will agree with. I challenge you to produce two videos per week. Now I don’t mean a full restoration vid and a shorter tank chat / walk around ( nothing wrong with those cause they’re awesome too). I mean two full length, restoration videos per week…….the Aus Armor loyal fan base knows you can rise to the occasion. And realistically, we’re only thinking of your success in exceeding your personal goals. I dare you to accept the challenge!

Looking at this battle to panel beat some mud guards do you guys ever think "f#ck it" we should just manufacture some from scratch? Must be easier with modern machinery. Sure I know restoring originals is a worthwhile venture but some of the value for time seems poor. Nobody ever will know/care if a Panhard mud guard was original.

  • @patchmack4469
    @patchmack4469 ปีที่แล้ว

amazing work as ever - one thing i enjoy doing is amusing myself at the thought processes that went into designing these machines, sometimes things seem just thrown together as they are purely functional - but i bet somewhere down the line when the wings were designed and assembled, some little French chap was saying No No No No, pretty curves added to flat square parts, a nightmare
this kind of restoration really needs descent smaller modified presses with a foot controller and to include a head and foot stamp to press the indents back into shape, rather than just beating seven bales for hours with a large hammer - still very impressive, the old army motto, make do and overcome works just as well, sometimes quicker, sometimes longer but still guaranteed the job gets done either way

Surprised the press wasn't used to help getting things back into shape. At work we got some lifting brackets made out of thick stainless sheet that sometimes bend a lot if not getting placed right in the machinery. I have found it's much easier to use the press and some clever placed bricks, than trying to get them back into right shape on a table with wise and big hammers.

I thought he would just have gouged out the broken eye and replaced it. I know it would have been a little harder to form but then the seam weld onto the chassis could have crossed the join leaving you with a much stronger eye. Loving the panel beating though.
