I've always loved the idea of Antarctica, so must search out 'A Polar Affair', sounds terrific. Ah, I love novellas, I'm really drawn to compression. It must be why I love poetry so much. 'Love in a Fallen City', is completely new to me, & sounds brilliant. I'm definitely going to get this. Thanks for a great review.
@@apoetreadstowrite A Polar Affair was great, one of my favorite reads of the year so far. And Love in a Fallen City is great too. I haven’t read a ton of fiction this year, but it also is one of my top reads.
@@MargaretPinard It’s worth the read. I don’t know enough about Chinese society of the time to grasp the full scale of it, but I would agree that she highlights its hypocrisies and its unfairness. I really enjoyed it.
I've been looking for books for Framed in September. I found a book about the history of dress codes and the meaning of fashion in daily life. Could that count? I think that's stretching the definition of the event, but it's calling me so far.
I haven't read any of those books, but I will never look at penguins in the same way again.
@@tealorturquoise Penguins are not quite the cute creatures we make them in children’s books. 😂
The nonfiction sounds fascinating!
@@janebaily3758 It was! Some nice armchair travel for the summer. 😁

@@bouquinsbooks: Sounds great.
Ooh, you read the Eileen Chang! I'm so interested--the reviews make her seem very sharp-sighted on societal hypocrisy...
Meant to read it for May of the Moderns but never got round to it :/

@@TimeTravelReads Of course it can count! There is an art to fashion and fashion is an art. 😁
