Thomas, thank goodness we can still get real knobs and buttons on the base level T-Roc model for volume and aircon. It’s tragic that VW keeps ruining their cars with digital touchscreens that are so difficult to use, and dangerous, especially while driving. The digital aircon slider control is not even illuminated on the latest Golf 8 - which makes it impossible to use at night. Unbelievable! The sooner this touchscreen fad passes the better. VW, please bring back real buttons and knobs with a proper tactile feel.

Thomas, may I suggest you do a special video on the problems with touchscreens in cars, and how important buttons and knobs are. You may be the only one that companies like VW will listen to. Influential journalists like yourself could help reverse this silly - and dangerous - trend by car companies to remove physical controls for basic functions like volume and aircon.

My father in-law has a T-Roc and lent it to us for some long-distance driving in France. I have to say it's a brilliant car, and the driver assistance systems really do help reduce fatigue (amazingly so.) Still trying to convince the better half that we need the 300bhp "R" model, so thanks for the tip on the "comfy seats" Thomas :-)

Forensic review and great advice as usual from Tomas. I just hope that the lower spec model is available with the 1.5 engine in the UK as the trend is to add all the bells and whistles to decent power output which is flawed in my opinion and obviously comes at a price. At least VW has listened to criticism of cheap and nasty plastics. It was absurd for the Polo to have a better interior finish than the TRoc. I’m not a fan of stuck on iPads on the fascia preferring something more ergonomic but overall the refresh looks a significant improvement.

This is probably the first facelift (exterior wise, at least) as of recent VW facelifts that I like, I think the Polo looks much worse facelifted and too busy, this looks nicely smoothed out especially style trim. However I suspect this will still be way too expensive for what it is, the cabrio is over 40,000€ *without options* here! That's Merc C-Class territory!

Another excellent review, Thomas. Now that you have revealed your trade secret, I will be sure to check that the wheel caps are aligned in future videos! With this refresh, Volkswagen should have reacted to the negative feedback about touch sensitive buttons on the steering wheel and used something like the base model instead - far less distracting for the driver. VW, in common with other manufacturers, also has an obsession with black plastic which will degrade very quickly. And fake exhausts, come on! Maybe VW could offer a fake exhaust option pack for those who want it otherwise I am sure that there are better options to style the rear bumper. I have owned several VWs over the years and while fit and finish is always good it seems that the latest models are very much style over substance. Time for VW to employ some new interior designers.

The most comprehensive car tester/reviewer probably of all time, a true gentleman and very smart dresser indeed, a legend I would say and a proper bloke but......................................I truly feel sorry for him in the same way that I feel sorry for myself and other humans around the planet and there interest in cars.
MMMmmm, every car is now the same, nothing new just bits and bobs changed, all are quick, all have daft flashing lights that say hello as you unlock them, how sad it has become, all handle well, all are quiet, all are over tired, all are to stiff, they all have the same drab seats, dull grey interiors or pure white impractical seats and fabrics that will get dirty, poor quality carpets, no exciting engine noise, dodgy electrics, options no one needs at extortionate prices.
Gone are the days of a luxurious soft cushioned ride on soft cushioned seats to waft along in with ample horsepower that is just enough to be swift with maybe a sports version to enjoy for the sportier person.
Gone are the days of a light little basic hot hatch 3 door, maybe a little raw around the edges with no frills, maybe a basic estate car that will have 100% flat folding seats for caravanning and weekends away with a wife or girlfriend, it's all gone, humans have changed for the worse.
I've spent since 1978 in the motor industry and now it has become mundane and boring, nothing new, all the same boring, really boring cars that really make no sense at all. God they are boring.
I'm done with cars now, finished. I'll keep my 3 door Clubsport Golf, my as new 1992 SAAB 900 3 door Turbo(with a flat floor) and my littile Yeti until they all drop to bits, I'll be dead by then.
Thanks for the entertainment over the years 'Autogefuhl', you've been utterly brilliant.
