The TBIP Tête-à-Tête is a series of in-depth and intimate interviews with film personalities who are critical to this era of filmmaking. It is an attempt to understand their body of work. And their minds. Because who they are intrigues us just as much as what they do. Because what they do is because of who they are. In certain cases, despite who they are. Because integral to the love of cinema is the love of cinema's idols- the chosen few whose mystique remains intact despite the tabloids' obsession with their lives.
Farah Khan was born into a film family. Her father lost everything, making movies that did not do well. They were poor and isolated overnight and the family fell apart. But Farah held on to her dark sense of humour, her affection for irony and survived. Starting off as a choreographer in small budget films, she went on to turn film choreography on its head.
After that very successful stint, she took up direction at a time when women directors were still a rarity in the Hindi film industry. But she refused to let her gender define her. Her films were not niche treatises on women's issues but hugely mounted commercial blockbusters. That is not to say that she would toe the formulaic line- that is just not Farah. Instead she took the formula and contemporized it, like she did her choreography. Presented it with a twist of tongue-in-cheek humour, as she does her life in this interview.

Wow we have SO damn much in common...it's crazy. She's one of my top favorites.
Ending Line - Don't have to have a man but have kids if you can :P
A really great interview. I could listen to her forever
She is precious. So unabashedly herself.
finally an interview ........ thanks ..... plzz do some more ....... luv these ...
@2:30 THE SONG She is talking about, You can WATCH the SONG here: th-cam.com/video/X-P4-YZIuL8/w-d-xo.htmlm38s YOU CAN SEE her dancing in it.
Another thing I would disagree with Farah is her stance on Item Songs. I agree that sex and sexuality is really repressed in Indian society but majority of the people are uneducated and that's the difference between Amsterdam and Delhi where the line between reality and fantasy gets blurred. It's a hilarious irony that a country which banned LGBT right recently has pornstar Sunny Leone as one of it's major celebrity and again promoted by a WOMAN - Ekta Kapoor :C
Farah first of all I LOVE you. Karan is right - truly the most hilarious person in Bollywood but not just funny - very intelligent too. I loved this interview and this side of Farah, her past and deeper opinions on things. But what I've noticed as the interviewer is the role of women in Farah's films. Maybe to make a successful film in Bollywood/India directors whether male or female have to follow the status quo and make the women subservient and even objectify them (Ekta Kapoor & Sunny Leone -__-). I just wish Farah would keep her words for her next films.
@ 28:35 farah is so right.
India... Whats there to be proud about?
love her
@23:24 She says and they were all HUNG, it was a party. :oO
The posters behind this woman should not be Citizen Kane and La Dolce Vita but Plan 9 from outer space and Trash!

Happy New Year and Tees Mar Khan were Tacky movies. People do laugh on her movies. The humour in her movies is pathetic, creepy and tacky. Ever read the reviews on facebook or other pages. Those movies were pathetically tacky.
Is she crazy. Akshay Kumar saved the movie just like srk does to her every time. Her movies are tacky.
She took sociology in college because it was and she could go on writing crap,Now she makes crap. Crappy movies!
