If Imams left a Will, did previous prophets before Muhammad (sallallahu alaihi waaalia wasalam) also leave a Will? If other prophets left a Will, did our last prophet leave his last & final Will & if not, why not, is it because when our last prophet (pbuh) asked for pen & paper, one of the 1st three caliphs refused to give it?
Leaving a will is one of the Sunnahs of the Prophet and is highly recommended. Many divine representatives wrote their own wills, while others have chosen to dictate them to their heirs. The well-known incident of 'Pen and paper', where the Prophet attempted to write a will for the Ummah, is indeed one of the examples of the wills of the Prophet. However, there have been wills made by him for specific individuals as well.
Rather than speculate on why something was not done, it might be better to focus on how an Islamic will automatically is according to Quran and Hadith without having to mentions specifics.
Salam Sayed, I wonder why you didn’t mention the name of Muhammad ibn Sulayman. Was he an ally of the Abbasid caliphate? Did he join Al-Mansour in his campaign against his own cousins such as Ibrahim ibn Abdullah? In other words, is he considered among the good or the bad Hasanids? Thank you in advance Sayed, God bless you 🙏🏻
Alaykum Salaam. That wasn't the topic of discussion by the Sayed. The role of Hasanids in the Islamic history is a topic that requires a series of its own :)
Thank you for your reply. The topic was about the “Taqiyya” of our holy Imams associated with their last will or testament of divine successorship. I was just curious to understand why Muhammad ibn Sulayman was on the list of Imam Ja’far (peace be upon him).
I think the attribution of this list of 5 names to Imam Ja’far (pbuh) is somehow problematic. Knowing that Abdallah al-Aftah later claimed to be the rightful successor after his father. In all cases, Sayed Al-Qazwini has perfectly explained why the name of our beloved Imam Mahdi was not mentioned in the official will of his father, peace be upon them both.
