My pleasure!!! It def seems crazy for first time hot pot, just remember the surviving skill, seafood, or animal protein that you won't eat raw, wait till the broth around it start boiling before eating anything around it, this case, you won't die, and worse case scenario you had some over cooked meat and undercook corn, give it a few more try, it'll get easier everytime!

Three weeks ago, I went to my first Hot Pot BBQ. It was an internet Meet Up group. I was lucky to sit next to a woman from China. Who showed me how to serve and prepare raw meats? I asked her about the chop sticks after picking up the raw meat. Same as here just sterilized in boiling broth. I helped her with the English menu. I am going again this coming Sunday. But this time I am READY to FEAST!

I know this is a late reply, so how did that Sunday goes? have you tried seafood yet? cuz that's the tricky one

Yes~ it obviously depends on the freshness and your country’s law and the grade of the beef itself, but there’s beef sashimi in Japan, most ppl also don’t eat their steak well done. So yes, generally, eating beef that’s not 100% cook shouldn’t be a problem
