I had this game for the game cube, elbow slam was my go to against goblin. The web dome burst would not work against him because he would rip right through it. Hell of a game.
If you liked the PS1 Spidermans, then you really loved this game. As a kid it felt like the same game, but way better graphics. Swinging was similar, you cant swing too low or die. You even had the same abilities like the web shield, web punches. I loved it
I vividly remember being in elementary school and going over to my friend’s house where I saw him playing this game. I was immediately sold and went out and bought an Xbox and this game with the money I had been saving up for years. Around 20 years later now, just hearing the sounds of gameplay and the soundtrack brings me right back. Those were years of happiness I don’t think I’ll ever be able to replicate.
Finally a reviewer that actually does an in-depth analysis of the game. Usually this game’s swept under the rug as a lazy movie game where you swing on clouds and cant touch the street. But this game has a ton of charm to it with the cheats and endgame content that I feel is so underrated
Cloud swinging in this game gets unfair criticism. They improved upon the swinging from the previous spider man games where you couldn't even turn or change elevation while swinging. At that time, spiderman 2's swinging was not even a thing yet.
One of my all-time favourites. Spent hours roaming around the first levels using different cheats like big head/big feet and the midget one. They even added hidden dialogue for Harry as GG in many scenes if you played as him for the main story. Developers used to be much more creative with keeping kids invested imo.
Even today, the game is still very visually appealing. The cutscenes look good and the gameplay venues are bright and detailed. The music is also a huge plus. It expands on the great soundtrack from the movie and keeps you feeling heroic.
I had no idea about the goblin story! I remember using cheats to play as him because I was obsessed with videogame magazines but I never even thought about playing the full game like that. Games these days don't do cool things like that anymore, no secrets and most game devs take things way too seriously instead of giving us fun, even if a bit broken, things to play with. Great video, keep it up!
I grew up with this game it is so nostalgic and the PS2 graphics are just so amazing. Spider-Man 1 on PS2 is one of my favorite games ever. It has so much Raimi vibes to it. This gaming era is amazing and entertaining it's like revisiting your entire childhood seeing this. I remember playing this so many times. Great villains, Shocker, Green Goblin, Carjacker (uncle Ben's cold-blooded murderer is Flint Marko), Vulture and Scorpion (and Kraven if you play Xbox). Very captivating entry. And honestly as web swinging goes this one takes the cake it's so fluent, fun and free-roaming. Tobey is the one who get webs in his wrist by DNA after all. Being bit by a spider turned him into something unstoppable. The stealth mission at Oscorp is terrifying those robots were so vicious and spooky if they catch you. The beautiful music also brought so much life to this title, the funny and lighthearted voice acting but it also has a serious tone in the storytelling. Gameplay is fun. The cinematics are unique. Tobey is the most underappreciated Spider-Man/Peter Parker alive. He's the legendary OG so much ambition and hard work Maguire put in his role. Level designs are good. Puzzles are fun. The thing I didn't like about these newer Spider-Man games is that you swing way too much in the city it gets tedious, annoying and frustrating. While here it's limited and restricted which is such a positive and doesn't take anything away from the experience.
I remember having this pre-ordered back in 2002 when I was in 8th or 9th grade. This game was lit back in the day. I remember taking this to some friend’s houses and they were blown away by the graphics and combos.
@@NolanWinsAnother Another Fun Fact: Vulture’s VA, Dwight Schultz reprised his role in Spider Man 2018, 16 years after playing the character in this game
Ahh yes! The memories. The level with Oscorp gave me anxiety though. The playstation 1 spiderman game has a special place in my heart above all of the other spiderman games.
The swinging wasn't down to technical limitations, it was due to time constraints. Spider-Man 2 had real, physics based swinging on the same consoles as the first game
Fun Fact: Green Goblin wasn't used in the previous ps1 games due to Sony forbidding neversoft from using him because of the upcoming Raimi movie. He was going to be used for the third game as the main antagonist but the success of the Raimi movie got the third planned installment cancelled in favor of a Raimi tie-in game, where assets and animations and story elements from the unreleased third game were used for the first Raimi game. Spidey's attacks are all reused animations from the ps1 games. Also, we were supposed to get Kraven and Vulture in the third game, since they never appeared in the ps1 games yet, but were used instead for the Raimi game (with kraven being exclusive to the Xbox version).
I played this game so much on the original Xbox, and I was able to play the Kraven levels as a result. The fact that Tobey Maguire and Willem Dafoe voice their respective characters, the other villains in the game, memorable quotes and music, the playable Green Goblin, and others give this game so much value. I'll never forget the Oscorp stealth missions scaring the crap out of me the first time I played them. I don't have a problem with them now obviously, and I have even screwed around on said levels. Also worth mentioning is that there was also a cheat code for Mary Jane Watson, but it was cut from later versions of the game due to the lesbian depiction of the two MJs kissing. Spider-Man: The Movie Game I will always treasure. It's just a sad reality that it tends to be overshadowed by tons of the more recent Spider-Man games.
This was my first GameCube game and it blew my mind, coming from ps1, n64 and Dreamcast the graphics and audio were just crazy to me, and the gameplay was so far beyond the Spider-Man game I owned on Dreamcast.
My god the mission gave me the most anxiety was breaking entering where you had really use stealth to your advantage in order dodge alarms guards and robots. Made me be so good with alot of stealth games as kid like Socom and James bond games.

I loved this game back in the day, I thought the movement was unreal. For example being able to stick yourself to the floor or ceiling in a second was sooooo useful when dodging attacks. Press R1🤣 Another thing I thought was this games music is so good?? In all levels it's so good for the contribution towards the atmosphere of the game?? It's very 90s/2000s in its culture within the game too lmao The stealth levels were very enjoyable too I will say, the puzzles were a bit confusing when I was 6 but I still enjoyed them. That's why I prefer the PS1 games. Since the gameplay doesn't change, PS1's more cartoony graphics have way more personality in my opinion.
the enemy even has a similarity (the one who wield dual gun). And how the spidey can lift and throw object, that's straight from the PS1 game.
and you could learn NEW moves!! my absolute favorite

The PS game was epic. While younger me wasn’t thinking about “production value,” adult me recognizes how this game had it in spades…. I still remember going through it just to play as the Goblin, something today would have been “paid DLC….”
Oh yes!!! Wow forgot bout that
don’t even have to watch the video. the answer is yes. STILL a badass game, and even better when you put in a cheat code to play as the green goblin.
I played this as a kid and I swear this game was solid! I could only get to some of the later levels via cheat codes, some of them I could finish though. A lot of the time I found it easier playing as the Green Goblin
Loved this game and being able to play as the goblin
I loved this game back in the day, I thought the movement was unreal. For example being able to stick yourself to the floor or ceiling in a second was sooooo useful when dodging attacks. Press R1🤣
Another thing I thought was this games music is so good?? In all levels it's so good for the contribution towards the atmosphere of the game??
It's very 90s/2000s in its culture within the game too lmao
The stealth levels were very enjoyable too I will say, the puzzles were a bit confusing when I was 6 but I still enjoyed them.
It was one of the first games I played on my ps2 at the time
