I really loved Tommy Gemmell and was sad to learn the details of his departure by watching this video. The fact that John Hughes got similar treatment has taken some of my admiration for Jock Stein that I have felt since I was a boy. Thank you for putting this together.
Remember Stein was no longer around to defend himself when these stories came out, but I’d say there’s substance to them. John Hughes didn’t even go to his funeral. Stein was only human though and we all have our failings. I think he simply found it very difficult to tell players they were out, and it came across very badly. Have you watched Part One?
