    Haydn is the father of the symphony. His music is amazing in harmony, grace and elegance. Viva Haydn a true genius of music that gives us unforgettable moments of pleasure and haunting music. Bravissimo

      Gabriel Fromyhr isn’t it? Haydn at his starkest, barest expression. Sounds like grief to me.

    Joseph Haydn... On croit savoir tout sur lui mais en réalité on ne sait pas tout, ou du moins il nous cache encore quelque chose. A nous de déceler ce mystère en écoutant attentivement et amoureusement sa musique...

    (1761-1762 ca) Pur rilevandone le debolezze, Robbins Landon cita questa sinfonia come una "pietra miliare" nell'evoluzione di Haydn. Non si può che negare che si distingua dalle altre opere dello stesso periodo, ma non sempre in senso positivo. E' evidente in ogni caso lo sforzo di uscire dalla convenzione e di accostarsi a un tipo di espressione originale. LDC
