The larger part that lies in Sweden is called Malmbana. Malm=ore, like iron ore and bana=track like railway track. So it carries iron ore, therefofe the heavy haulage. The track was built and opened to use in 1902. The ore train is 750 metres long. The scene from the train is full of snow covered plains, tunnels and mountains, very beautiful. There is a plan to make it in to a dubbel track. There are total of 34 engines, built by Bombardier in 2000-2013 and they are called iore (short for iron ore), two engines pull a 750 metre long train with 68 wagons, each weighing 100-120 tons. They run 10 trains with iron ore per day. The engine delivers 5400KW power each and being two means 5400kw x2 =10800kw. 700KN x2 pulling power/momentum, coco+coco configuration of wheels, weight of each engine 180ton, top allowed speed 80km/h. Remember it is rough mountain and snow covered terrain.

if we are able to develop rail tracks that could withstand the heavier load of a higher HP rail engine alongwith the higher tonnage then we could dream ofbeing the producer of highest HP rail engine on our DFC tracks happily.
Just by increasing hp doesn't increase pulling capacity. Especially, the weight of electric locomotive is lesser than diesel-electric locomotive. It depends on coefficient of friction. So dead weight is added in electric locomotive.

your information is outdated...most powerful locomotive is SHEN 24 of china's Shenmu-Shuozhou line. Its output is insane 28KW and can haul 10k ton train upto 1.2 degree gradient.

I think in another 5-6 years with advancement of electrification, there will be a glut of diesel locomotives even with the 15% contingency requirement. So atleast for the next few years or a decade a newer platform of diesel locomotives may not be introduced
