You can tell Janette knows her salsa. She always gets the best out of her men when they dance a salsa. Pity she never got to show us what Peter Andre and Melvin Odoom could do with one! This is fantastic and, in my opinion, was undermarked purely because of the slight mistake with the last lift. Everything else was PERFECTION!
Ahh I didn't realise she was on SYTYCD, my bad. Funny I always thought from watching her on Strictly that her training was more balletic, maybe it's her athleticism. Good to know, thanks :)

That lift sequence is such an euphoric moment that makes me want to rewind and watch it again. And she survived the lift at the end which is always a good thing :D My favourite dance of the evening. Alexandra was excellent, too, and technically better, but this feels somehow warmer.

Amazing dance this, they really captured the fun, carnival-esque essence of the salsa! It was a 9 from me. But whilst I am here and reading down the rest of the comments, there is something I have to rant about: It's getting so boring reading year after year people moaning about "ringers" (I hate that phrase. Call them a cheat or with an unfair advantage if you really must negative Nancies of social media, but ringers just makes them sound like something rude) or people that are popstars, stage actors etc doing Strictly and demanding they be burned at the stake for daring to be quite good at it. As Zoë Ball quite rightly pointed out on It Takes Two this week, I don't ever recall JLS doing a foxtrot to 'Beat Again' (now there's an image. I digress). Don't get me wrong I love when the show has funny dancers like Russell Grant, John Sargeant or Ed Balls. But if the show was full of only dances like that it'd be boring. Same as if it'd be boring if it was full of people that could do it well. The beauty of Strictly is it's all about a variety and balance and that's what make it the show it is and why I love watching it. I accept every one will have their favourites etc because that's the nature of the beast with this kind of show but those whinging about the above need to get a grip!
This was an extremely fast version so don’t blame it on him having to learn many different songs at a time or not knowing the lyrics bc the way this one is there was no way he could’ve kept up whether he knew it or not

Ffion White there are so many people on the show this year who have danced at some point in their lives. Debbie McGee had ballet training yet I haven't seen anyone say she's at an advantage. I personally don't think we should complain just because someone has musicality and can dance, no one goes in if they're considered professionals, some people just get it better than others. Alesha Dixon judged on Strictly and she never had professional training nor was she seen to have an advantage over the other celebrities when she was a contestant on the show.
Ffion White Understandable, I personally enjoy watching those who you know will get far as I like to see how they try to raise an already high bar. I like the contrast between the brilliant dancers and the questionable dancers, but I guess we all have opinions
I agree Ashton is very good for so early, but the shows premise is teaching celebrity to dance Ballroom and Latin from scratch which Ashton doesn't have experience of, He hasn't had any formal dance training, everything is self taught which can also be a hinderance. For instance his sickle feet that Shirley has now mentioned twice, if he was taught professionally that would have been picked up on. He may have musicality and rhythm but we shall have to see if Janette can knock the hip hop, street, boy band swagger out of the latin dances, which she wasn't able to with Peter Andre. They have impressed me so far, as have some others
Lucy Pimlott i’m pretty sure they have money, it’s one of the biggest shows in uk but what’s the point of wasting them and getting others when you can reuse others
It was a wow of a routine. Superb !! He had the technique and he was one fire. He was a bit unstable (especially during the last lift) and he was a bit flat footed (he should have stepped even more on the balls of his feet). Haven't said that, technically it was the best salsa ever, in my opinion. An 8.
I'M SO PROUD OF HIM! He was amazing!!!! Those lifts and the way he stood up at the beginning... just wow!

Not exactly original with her choreoraphy, though. This routine contains all the same stunts as she did with previous partners. Lazy.
