Very satisfying that a work ostensibly written to accompany a ballet can be presented like this in concert form in total, entirely on its own, and listeners can thoroughly enjoy it for its musical qualities, without any need whatever to refer to another medium.

May I add that all this music has reached a level of perfection in the expression and orchestral art, that can hardly be surpassed.

As I have stated below, as far as the music itself goes, indeed it could hardly be surpassed.
Glazunov tended to score thickly, and his music was less "timbre-specific" than that of his predecessors. It tended to be more "of the music" rather than the music itself, which in my opinion is a big plus. But as far as how the music holds together compositionally, he was quite superior to any of the Nationalists, and right alongside both Tchaikovsky and Rachmaninov.

A cheerful music, plenty of inspiration; one of the best of Glazunov; also he has really "made honey" of his predecessors like Rimski and Tchaïkovski. I would like one day to see the ballet itself, but at least we have here a dancing conductor!

To see the ballet? This music actually stands better on its own than any of the music that Tchaikovsky wrote for his ballets. For me, Glazunov was in no way inferior to either Tchaikovsky or Rachmaninov, and head and shoulders over any of the Five Nationalists, sturdier in his bearings than even Rimsky Korsakov.

I had not heard this conductor before, he is very, very good! Purposeful and passionate with clarity. If the Wikipedia page is not mistaken, you have received an award in 2001 for your work in the Cuban region. Do you have any Cuban composers in your repertoire? I would love to see what you do with underappreciated or new Cuban composers as well. Best wishes and kindest regards.

Bravo! Pleasing, delightful and charming, including the conductor's graceful gestures and restrained guidance, often using his hands instead of the baton. Superb performance: detailed with smooth phrasing. Personally, I'd prefer a slightly faster tempo for the famous tune at the opening of the "Autumn Bacchanale". The clarinet solo is enchanting and fluent, matched by the glissando of the harp, just to mention two players. As I probably have little chance of traveling to Russia to attend the performance of this orchestra and other great orchestras there, I'm grateful for this video performance that reflects the Russian Romantic and national spirit in the great, admirable tradition of Rimsky-Korsakov (Glazunov's mentor) and Tchaikovsky. By the way, Glazunov, in his turn, taught at the conservatory where Rachmaninov and, later, Shostakovich studied. Allow me to repeat a small but amazing contribution that Glazunov made to Borodin: Glazunov completed and orchestrated Borodin's "Overture to Prince Igor" from memory, after having heard Borodin play it on the piano.
