Trivia note: The U.S. game show The Amazing Race has been on for 36 Seasons, & yet they have been to Singapore for just 3 of them; Seasons 3, 16, & 25 (which aired back in 2014).

@@FictionHubZA I wish to make the west ashamed of not being as liberal we would be. So liberal that a government wouldn't have a monopoly on coercion or foreign policy. I want to make my nation the source of legislation for many countries like the Napoleonic Code.
Human Rights? That'd be the ABC of our children. Regulations would basically be banned, and replaced with laws and rules.

Singapore could be located in the middle of Africa and it would've done the same thing. Conversely, you can move other people to Singapore and it would've become a dump. Malaysia didn't even want it, people seem to forget that.
It's what people do with what they have, and the policies that encourage it. America had great geography, but the natives didn't take advantage of it, the European settlers did. Japan has horrible geography, but it's become a power house. Sure, geography has an impact, but there are very few places that have only negatives and zero positives.

To give so much credit to geography without considering the people that worked, literally devoted their lives to the cause, is so pathetic. It trivializes the history of the nation and the people that made it so. Just look at their neighbors, some immediate, and see how they fared. Singapore had none of their advantages at the start, and could've easily ended up much worse, and this video would've been very different. Your content is nothing but retroactively finding data to fit your geography lens, not to mention a very Eurocentric and condescending POV.

@@Ethan7s But you cannot denied that one of the factors of Singapore success is its geography. Without its strategic location, British would not conquer that place from the Johor sultanate. Without its strategic location, chinese would not immmigrated and be brought by British there. Singapore would just be filled by ethnic Malay without its strategic location that made the British interested in that place in the first place. If you are Singaporean, you would not exist without Singapore strategic location and British involvement. To deny this fact is to close your eyes from the truth.

The value of any one thing is dependent on others.
Early society's needed livestock to dometicate to truly develop to the next stage we have seen. After those initial hurdles were overcome, you could concentrate on small areas as agriculture could be a sustainable food source.
With basic needs met and people being in realitively stable areas, trade took off adding additional value to rivers and oceans. It also added value to innovation as ideas could have collaboration and be shared to advance society, which again added value to other features.
Society and economies change as things change the values of different assets on the world's stage also change.

Singapore might rejoin Malaysia sooner than we thought through the newly-signed Singapore-Johor SEZ because Singapore within its territorial borders have no enough spaces for further development like putting up detached houses.
