Hi Shannon. Dental hygienist here. I’ve been a subscriber for quite a while, love your channel. I have seen people go through this many times. I’m not totally clear on exactly what they did, sounds like full extractions with implants to hold the dentures. This is an excellent option, you totally did the right thing, but let me tell you, you did fantastic! That was a lot! You killed it!! You will get used to them and there will probably be many adjustments along the way til you’re totally happy with it. That’s totally normal. Give yourself some time but know you did an amazing job and you’ll feel yourself in no time. Feel free to reach out if you’d like. Sending hugs!!

I was thinking of getting partial implants done, but after seeing this, I 'm not sure if I want to get it done! If I do decide to do it, it will be a while before I do get it done because the way it seems is that you had to take a lot of pain medicine and right now I can't be taking them. My liver is very inflamed, and I was told to stay away from Tylenol, etc. which sucks because I suffer from fibromyalgia and osteoarthritis, and I get a lot of headaches, so I think I'd better wait on doing it until my liver hopefully gets better.

I have "soft" teeth and seemed to always have aching teeth. This last year, I decided to have all my uppers pulled and went with an upper plate. Best thing I ever did, no pain now and my confidence has soared. My denturist did a fantastic job. No one knows I have dentures. I pray you will be happy with your outcome.

I brush after each meal.I have a toothbrush and paste in my bag at all times and even if I have lunch outside I go straight to brush my teeth.I floss and I have a tooth douche which I use twice per day - morning and evening. And here I am with the most disgusting and yellow teeth.I dont smoke and i dont drink alchohol. Only coffee but actually is more like milk with little coffee.I felt so much judgement from dentists that i stopped going and I'm just starting to research this option of all-on-4.I just need to be over with all the judgement and looks.

Oh Shannon, been there, done that. A couple of times, actually, and now the prosthedontist wants to do more. I said no because the expense is so high and I'm in my eighties. (I wrote to you about a year ago when I realized you were from metro St Louis and I'm from Brentwood, MO although I now live in Michigan). You were very wise to go through this as a young person. Congratulations on making a tough decision and dealing with the pain associated with oral surgery. I hope that you and your family have a wonderful Christmas. And 2025 will clearly be better than 2024! I love your videos and thanks for making them.

I hardly ever watch a 50 minute video, especially not craft related, but I’ve been a subscriber to your channel for quite some time and was very interested in your procedure. I’ve bounced this implant thing around for quite sometime. I know it’s super expensive, but I didn’t know anything else about it. You have been very helpful in documenting your journey. I thought when they put the teeth in, it was all done. I didn’t realize there are several temporary’s before the final. I have had bad teeth most of my life. I have several back teeth that have broken off in the back and so many of my fillings have fell out. For the most part I don’t have any tooth pain, but I do have gum pain. Everyone tells me that having bad teeth can be bad for your health. This is why I’ve been giving this a thought. I applaud you for going through this. You have been a trooper. Your husband is a godsend. I live alone so I would have to go to my son’s house for him to take care of me. I had a complete joint replacement surgery on my foot last year and he took great care of me. I couldn’t walk for two months. I do want to say that your new almost full smile looks great. Thank you for sharing your experience. I’m wishing you more and more recovery each day. Also have a Merry Christmas with your family and hopefully you’ll be able to eat a wonderful Christmas dinner.

Shannon, I want to express my sincere appreciation for this video. I've struggled with dental issues since childhood, having a very small mouth, and I've always disliked going to the dentist because of it. It seems they often charge exorbitant fees for subpar work. I've had numerous root canals, crowns, and caps, only to have them break within three years, requiring further procedures, including bridges. I'm now considering implants. Your video, with its honest and straightforward approach, has significantly improved my understanding of what to expect. Thank you so much, Shannon!
Here's to a brighter year with your beautiful smile!

    Hi Shannon.
It does get better. I’m about halfway through my process - I only had to have the top done. I had a bridge on each side and one kept coming out. It is such a relief to not have to worry about my teeth falling out in public
I am so glad I went through the process and I’m sure you will be too.

      Hi Shannon,
Glad you got it done! It’s crazy how our health is compromised from our teeth 🦷 😢
I broke my neck in 2011 then in 2018 I had to have all my bottom molars pulled. Covid hit and I wasn’t able to get back to the dentist in Alaska because the place I went to was only taking emergency’s only. I come back to TX every winter.
I’ve really wanted to get my teeth done like you did but can’t afford it.
      Someday I’ll be able to.
They look beautiful and a good thing about mouths it recovers quickly. I use deep blue from doterra & arnica tablets when I had all my molars pulled.
I still can’t believe after all the technology we have in this world we still have to do impressions! I have a small mouth and jaw issues

I hope you have an easy recovery and enjoy your new smile.

My dental journey is very parallel to yours, but I'm now 59, and have spent thousands upon thousands on all the various tooth-repairs, implants, and living with missing teeth. Thank you so much for sharing this. I've been a silent watcher for a while now. I'll be 39 in Jan, and due to health issues, I need dentures. I'm working on saving for the snap in dentures. Due to my medical issue, it'll be better if I can remove them to make sure everything is thoroughly cleaned. Unfortunately it's gonna take a while since they're so costly as I'm sure you know lol. I just want to say thank you. I've watched quite a few videos from others that have went through the process, but you're is so detailed as far as the healing process. I really hope you continue to share your journey with us. I know it's such a vulnerable place to put yourself. I just hope you know you're helping others who are in this situation. So thank you! Hello Shannon! This video is God sent. Thanks so very much for sharing your journey. Your story is so similar to mine. I've decided to swallow my fears and embarrassment of my teeth. I'll be making an appointment to start the procedure of fixing my teeth. I've had many teeth pulled, crowned, root canals, tumors removed and wore braces for 5 years. (6th-12th grade) I'm 56 now and all my front teeth are broken and chipped. My remaining teeth have split into and have large holes in them. I'm in pain every day. I too have always used the nail file, I'm actually having to use it on my teeth now. I've always wanted beautiful teeth but with my past experiences I'm terrified. Their bad condition are effecting my health and it's time. So once again I can't thank you enough for sharing your story. You've helped to provide me with some extra courage. I'm forever grateful. Thank you so much for sharing your journey as for many, myself included loosing our teeth has caused emotional pain & to become reclusive! ❤ keep shining like the star you are!
I have a rare blood disorder that I didn't know I had until 2008 which led to a hysterectomy and has caused a bone disorder, that made me lose all of mine in 2014. They extracted 20 after literally my front ones fell out while I was drinking and had bumped them with my straw. It was horrific! I LOVED my teeth and smile. I couldn't get inplants as the surgeon wouldn't do them bc of my bleeding disorder. It has costed me so much grief... been through 4 sets of dentures (1600 a pop) within 5 yrs. The bone wasted away like butter melting in a 95° day. Lol I am trying to get inplants but still have a long way to go with bone grafts and stem cells to rebuild my bone so it is out of reach for me. The disorder I have has made the rebuilding very hard and 48k which I will never have! I am praying for you! You did the best thing and will love them after all the pain is gone. ❤ Merry Christmas sweet friend!! 🎄

My teeth have been bad since my very early childhood as well. Anyhow. I went to a dentist before my throat swelled shut and they refused to pull it cuz i had no money. I ended up having to be transferred to henry ford hospital,i was on a ventilator for 2 weeks,in the hospital for another 2 weeks and spent another month in a rehabilitation home learning to walk again and take care of myself. The rest of my teeth are a waiting game to do the same thing. I have no idea what im going to do. I only wish i could afford what you had done. Be blessed and thankful for what you are able to have. I found this video while looking for videos about dental tourism in Mexico. In my 60's now, I've a life-long history of dental work stemming from a childhood car wreck. Here in the USA I was quoted a massive amount of money to do ALL ON 4 for upper and lower full-arch restorations. After talking to relatives who went to Mexico for major dental work, I decided to research it. I visited the city of Las Algodones (across the border from Yuma, AZ and Andrade, CA) early in 2024 to be evaluated by a couple of the larger dental clinics. I selected SANI Dental Group and had surgery in March and the final teeth in November. I could have completed the work sooner but other demands kept me in the USA.
My experience with All On 4 was at SANI Dental in Los Algodones. I cannot possibly recommend them high enough! My situation is perhaps a little different as I had 4 existing implants from many years ago supporting a snap-on upper denture which was never satisfactory despite the high cost from a USA dentist. My bottom teeth had old fashioned fixed bridgework and crowns, which had all finally failed, leaving me with little to eat with on the bottom.
Here in the USA when I looked into getting All On 4 for the lower as well, plus replacing the upper denture with a fixed bridge on the existing implants, I was quoted $50K to $55K. That included removing the old implants, which was for the dental office's convenience. The old implants were healthy and strong, but the product line was outdated. So they wanted to inflict all that trauma rather than do the work to find abutments and screws.
    INSANE!
SANI Dental was able to do the extractions on the bottom and place the four bottom implants. A temporary acrylic bridge went on the bottom implants for six months of healing, which worked perfectly. When I returned they obtained the needed hardware for my old implants on top, made the permanent porcelain on metal bridges, top and bottom. Everything was covered in one price which was about 26% of what I was quoted in the USA. Of course I paid for travel and meals, but this was a very small amount as I am only a few hours drive from Los Algodones. I stayed in one of the two hotels that are affiliated (possibly owned??) by SANI Dental.
Today my work is done and the teeth feel and look natural and perfect. Could not be happier with my result.😁
For those people who can afford USA dental care without going deeply into debt, that's wonderful. For thousands of Americans and Canadians though, consider looking into Medical/Dental Tourism. I was impressed with the quality of facilities, the experience and skill of all the staff and doctors. There was also the huge convenience of going to a large clinic with its own on-site lab, no waiting as a distant lab manufactures the new teeth.

@@cherylell4208 Every patient is going to be somewhat different, and remember I had 4 implants to begin with from work done long ago. If you have X-Rays from a dentist (ask for them, they should be able to provide them free!) you can email those to clinics for an initial opinion.
For me, the bill was $14.2K. That is less than some "discount" All On 4 dental practices near me advertise for a single arch with no extractions or bone grafts. I had 7 extractions and some bone graft work done.
There were both cheaper and more expensive options in Los Algodones. I picked the one I felt was right for me. You mileage may vary ... GOOD LUCK!

You are one of my hero's! I had a pretty smile once upon a long time ago but, like you, kids, cavities, and scouring my teeth like I was getting burnt cheese out of a cast iron skillet ruined and took the enamel off my teeth. Breaking teeth, discoloration, and me not wanting to be in pictures now is the end result. I don't know if I'll ever be able to get implants but, as for going all the way to have no pain and a pretty smile again, I’m there! Thank you for sharing your courageous story, Shannon, and I'm looking forward to seeing your permanent smile. Hugs and healing wishes. Happy Holidays! Karen

I feel you! I had to have 3 implants done last November- all my bottom teeth extracted. I had to do it all with Tylenol- I have allergies to every pain med they could prescribe to me. It was a long unpleasant healing process- Start to finish for me was November-June-but I am a bit over a year out of surgery & wish I would have done it SO much sooner.
I had to have all my uppers pulled 12 years ago. Unfortunately I could not afford implants then so I have traditional dentures on my uppers. Now there is nothing I can do about implants in my upper without a FEW procedures.
I had spent THOUSANDS trying to "fix" my teeth and my health was starting to fail. My blood pressure was a mess, I actually had a mini stroke due to bad teeth. Now I am "toothless", pain free & off blood pressure meds!!

Oh my gosh Shannon, your story is mine! Since I was a little girl, I've had issues with my "soft" teeth....extractions, fillings, cavities under fillings. root canals, and now several implants. My husband says I am walking around with the equivalent of several homes in my mouth with the work I've had done to save my teeth. It is not easy but you will get through it! Wishing you many blessings and a wonderful Christmas season!

I have teeth rotting in my head & they are actually hurting I'm having severe sinus problems now. I have always taken care of my teeth but as i get older I seem to be having issues. First time I ever saw a dentist I was 26. The next time I saw a dentist he was pulling out all my teeth and putting in dentures. The best advice my mother who also had dentures gave me was make them your own. That meant 24/7 making friends with my new teeth. I love them they never cause me any pain❤️. You look beautiful❤️

Hi Shannon. Firstly, thank you for all the creative content you share. You are an inspiration! I look forward to your videos, and know I will either learn something new or be inspired to run to DT to create something new.
2nd: thank you for being vulnerable and sharing your personal story. That is HARD to do, but know this will help so many people. Most people don't realize that this is a LONG process. It's not a 1 day thing like the ads make it appear to be. You need to be prepared for months of recovery, adjustments, and the psychological issues that come with this procedure. My mom just had a full set of implants installed, and I watched her go through this. Unfortunately, she is having complications in getting the final set installed. Something about the screws not fitting?
I am considering this procedure, but I am not in the right place financially at the moment. I need them and have alot if dental issues, but am struggling internally with spending so much money for something that some might consider a vanity issue. That's ME and my neuroses that are preventing this from happening, and I struggle with this alot. I know I am worth it.....but don't feel like it at times.
I'm proud of you for doing this and sharing your story. It's so powerful to see someone's vulnerability and it really means alot. ! Thanks to your husband and Honey too! What a great support team. I feel like i really got to know you through this . All the best and Happy Holidays!
