    Deuteronomy 22:28-29
    If a man find a damsel that is a avirgin, which is not betrothed, and lay hold on her, and lie with her, and they be found; 29 Then the man that lay with her shall give unto the damsel's father fifty shekels of silver, and she shall be his awife; because he hath humbled her, he may not put her away all his days.

      I don't think there's a literal part that says what's in the song ... what Tim mentions is mostly an aggregate of the whole Deutoronomy 22 ... if the woman doesn't marry the guy, and then marries another one and she's not a virgin, then she has to be stoned to death.... If a betrothed woman is raped in the city, and does not scream, she has to be stoned to death... if she's raped outside the city, it seems she's lucky and at least is not stoned to death (wow ... great consolation price) ... if she's not betrothed and raped, then she just has to marry her rapist ... I'm sure she would prefer to be stoned to death in this one....

    It baffles me how someone can enjoy and laugh at this actually state that Tim raises good points and yet still describes themselves as a christian.
    Morality and acceptable human behaviour changes from one generation to the next as we learn and understand more for anyone to be referencing a 2000 year old text looking for guidance on such things just makes no sense.
    Loved the reaction though.

      Right?! No matter how much you laugh it off or commend Tim, how the hell can you still call yourself a Christian after acknowledging Tim’s points?? I just don’t get it. And I don’t find it funny.

    • @B03Eastwood
      @B03Eastwood ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think this is actually a good thing. And I'm saying this as an atheist, and somewhat anti-theist. If a Christian can see this, and laugh at it while even understanding the points raised in the song... that's great! I, like hopefully most atheists, don't mind that people believe in things that I don't believe in. I just care that people are good to others, no matter who they are, and let them be the way they want to be. It's more important to me that they understand where I, and others like me are coming from, than that they agree with me.

    WHY DO YOU BELIEVE THE OTHER STUFF?
    Seriously, have you READ the Bible?
    I so appreciate your humour and openness… But I can’t help thinking that someone as sharp and open minded as you are will end up rejecting the religion you espouse once you’re actually made aware of the totality of that religion.

      Cherrypicking... everything that's inconvenient gets ignored or some mental gymnastics while that is no longer valid or mitigated by something else... despiste the claim that this all the inspired word of the deity - that is omniscient and omnipotent ... and doesn't make mistakes... cue noah's flood killing millions to correct the mistake of humans allegedly created by this deity.

      Something I noticed when I went to church as a child - no one actually reads the bible. We go to church on sunday, the priest reads a little bit, and then spends 20 minutes telling us what it means. His interpretation of what it means, of course. It wasn't until I took communion and got my own copy of the bible and READ it that I went - wait, what?! I became an atheist not long after that.

    • @garfnob4832

      yes, READ the religious text of whatever religion you are, and think about at what % of disagreement with the doctrine of the religion can you no longer say you are that religion. doctrine is what makes a religion a thing. a group of people that have the same beliefs. well there is more to it than any random belief, but that is the short of it.

    After raping a woman, if you can provide her family with (I believe) 60 pieces of silver, she's got to accept being your wife or get stoned. She's not getting high though.

  • @garfnob4832
    @garfnob4832 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    i would say not noah's ark, but the instruction to stone disobedient children.
    Leviticus 20:9 says, “If there is anyone who curses his father or his mother, he shall surely be put to death; he has cursed his father or his mother, his bloodguiltiness is upon him.”
    “His bloodguiltiness is upon him” basically means that he brought this punishment on himself.
    so, parents murder your kid, and it is the kids fault.
    or
    Deuteronomy 21:18-21 longer i will not quot it hear you can look it up.
    Deuteronomy 22:28-29 CSB - Marrying your Rapist
    "If a man encounters a young woman, a virgin who is not engaged, takes hold of her and rapes her, and they are discovered, the man who raped her is to give the young woman’s father fifty silver shekels, and she will become his wife because he violated her. He cannot divorce her as long as he lives."
    and if she will not marry the Rapist see above disobedient children.
