Thank you so much for playing my hack. Didn't think that anybody would play it nowadays. I want to excuse myself for some of the stars and glitches that occured to you. This being my very first completed hack and also it being done in a pretty close time window (for the competition), quality surely was lost. But still, I hope those small things didn't bothered you that much. I did start several SM64 Projects after it, and I got better at designing, but sadly I never finished a hack ever since.
@@fuscello yes... sorry. I nearly completed the level and then thought there should be something hard, which would be kinda obvious, so SimpleFlips has to try that BLJ for a while. @@poudink5791 Most people by default prefer the 16-bit sprites to the 8-bit sprites just as most prefer HD cartoon graphics or 3D models to sprites in general. I have a few complaints about the All-Stars versions of those first two games but only in their sound effect choices (the sound that should be used for bouncing on Goombas is instead used only for shooting Bullet Bills with fireballs for some reason). I think the NES versions of SMB2 and SMB3 both look and sound leagues better, but a lot of people basically swear by the SNES versions and almost exclusively use their assets in fangames rather than the bright, crisp 8-bit stuff. So basically if there's anyone other than me who prefers the 8-bit versions (I haven't found any in the past 30 years who say so openly) we're definitely _the minority_ on the subject. It's just that with the staggeringly large number of Mario fans total, I could see you potentially running into enough to say it's "far from rare" just by being a large raw number despite being a proportional minority.
@@RoninCatholic Weird. I always thought that most people preferred the 8 bit aesthetic over the 16 bit aesthetic, but that could just be because I've seen a few others who agree with me about the 8 bit aesthetic over the 16 bit aesthetic.
I think the textures are good and the level designs aren't. Especially that star that requires a backwards long jump and the five secrets star in Green Hill.
@Passepartout Yeah, sorry for so many walljumps. I tried to tone it down, but I just got kinda uncreative. What needs to be mentioned though is, that this was my very first completed hack, so I think its understandable, that I couldn't figure out how to get the textures to look nice. But still, sorry :)
It's not a bad hack, but I feel like a lot of the time, all you have to do is hop from platform to platform with little challenge in the way, like they just forgot to add enemies, or moving platforms, or cannons, or whatever.
AirMate Oh np! Yoshi Star Galaxy sounds rlly good in the sm64 soundfont regardless. Btw, I actually found a sm64 remake of the smb2 overworld theme the other day!
Well thanks but... This Video released this year. My hack is 1.5 years old at this point now so I couldn't have used that one. And secondly. This Video doesnt have a download in the sm64 format so... Its useless, for me at least.
Speaking of Bob-omb Battlefield I once tried to make a Super Mario World version of said stage on Super Mario Maker 2 The last level before the Bowser fight kinds reminded of the Pokemon Gold Spaceworld demo because that also includes more than one area being merged into one big area
I can see the bowser fights someday have stairs in which you’d have to keep throwing him up or down to followed by of course his bombs, I can honestly see someday as well though to that someday people will actually go crazy enough to write the project 64 engine to make 12 or or 16 megabyte sized roms become possible to create, implement and such, I’m talking crazy sure, but what’s actually crazy is we made the n64 go onto computers and we wrote it’s own format into scripts, hex values, we made it possible to dump cartridges into the internet to then make them possible to play on these emulators, we have guys all over the world doing this kind of level craziness to even other smaller devices where they’ll make them digital in the form of internet software just to use in computers, Kaze after all had redone a lot of the sm64 games functionalities and made it a lot more incredible, people asked him if he’s going to consider someday making his own games via his own sort of platform and he said he thinks he can do that and will try to, so we have faith that once a simple Nintendo 64 rom hacker hacked Mario 64 and others as well is likely someday going to possibly write his own form of games for his own platform, that will be exotic, Kaze will provide brilliance far better then a lot of others have gotten as far as to even dare make of any games of Nintendo’s history making games.
@@AirMateYT as I see there's no old mario games except smb1, smb3 and smw. The rest is overlooked and like most people you forget about super Mario bros 2, super Mario land and super mario land 2. Maybe add them in the sequel? It'll be nice 😊
Yeah. I only used songs i could find in the SM64 format, but i had problems finding the SMB2 Theme. So I changed it to another theme that may fits. Sorry :/
Sometimes I get thwomp and whomp confused too... Fortunately I'm German and here the thwomp is just a Steinblock and that translates to stone block. And whomp is wummp, is kinda similar but different to stone block.
Kinda true. I started making this level, thinking I could recreate a Bob-Omb Battlefield version with retro textures, so the colors were kinda similiar to the original level. Later on, I changed my mind and tried to make the level a bit different, but the colores stayed the same.
So if youre looking for the hack, just search on TH-cam for "Retro Mario Time AirMate" and you should probably find my Release Trailer. This hack is already prepatched when downloaded so no worriers :)
I wonder what happens if you use the bomb by the star platform to get the third and final hit. Bowser would be dead, but he would also fall into the pit, so what would happen?
What'll happen is, he falls off and jumps back up, thus losing immideately. There wouldn't be any bombs to throw Bowser to. You would need to jump off stage to re-enter the fight.

Hearing the retro Mario music in the Mario 64 soundfont is oddly weird and satisfying at the same time.
