Lost Lake was created by the San Andreas Fault. It is considered “bottomless” because it was formed by the San Andreas Fault, and is fed by the deep natural springs in the area.
Danny coming in with the history. Splash…
It’s actually a pond lol
@@TrailMilitia sag pond.
Next stop. By the lost rainforest
I was able to drive up to the lake a few years ago, someone moved all the rocks and wasn’t all rutted out. There used to be a cement picnic table right by the water. Beautiful spot
Lost lake is a sag pond. It is on the SA fault line... and every so many years a plate tectonic shift can pinch of the springs naturally feeding it causing it to dry up. That's how it got its name... not because it's hard to find... but because it can disappear. I went there quite often over the last 30 years... yet I have only seen it dried up once. It was used to combat either the pilot or blue cut fire... was pretty much depleted and took a couple years to recover.
Ohh dang thats interesting. This trip was literally my first time there.
I drove up to that lake last year when it was open then there's a trail to the right (heading east) you can drive around the north side of the lake to a trail that goes deeper up in the hills but it eventually comes back down to a locked gate owned by the railroad. There's also a 1920s or 30s car abandoned up there. There may be another way in through a riverbed if you don't mind lot's of pinstripes
Someone else mentioned this. They said it was a Rolls Royce or fancy Pontiac of some sort..
Drone shots! 🔥🔥🔥
Well it was open until this past rainfall and is now closed again. We sponsor the main trail right there from the gate in the beginning of your video. Thanks for loving the trail as much as we do.
Appreciate you guys taking care of the trail.
That River area is nice!
Dope
I’ve never seen your channel before but the quality was so good
Thank you brotha appreciate you watching
Lost lake is a sag pond created from The San Andreas. If you travel on the old Ridge route there are several more. They are on top of the California's biggest Earthquake Fault.
Great video. I miss that place. I know a few locals up there. Humble people. By the way the area near the creek is the Applewhite Picnic Area. The campsite is about 0.2 miles down the road. Applewhite campground.
Thanks for the info!
Only that one obstacle in that whole trail .. also a good trail behind lost lake
Sooo funny when Josh is filming, but we only hear you. LOL! Glad you’re finally starting to get used to that camera.
Haha it was on purpose that dude is mute when holding a camera
My front yard I live across the street from meyers canyon with the sheep .. that’s the only trail that’s closed .. and tons of rattlesnakes out I mean tons it’s infested
Thanks for the info it does seem with the weather everyone is coming back to life
Also they don't stock fish there very often. I think it's actually been a very long time since they have
Bro there’s craw fish like a mofo
@@TrailMilitia yup that there is a lot of. They'll come up & pinch your toes if your chilling staying still in the water.
What’s up my brother nice events that you have going on. I’ll be checking you out in the videos send me a shirt large I appreciated, one!
Lost lake Been there by myself and idk always felt watched so it probably is haunted 😂 who knows but there’s a lot of crawfish and some blue gils and bass in there still , just don’t outfish it , lots of people say they get robbed thankfully nothing has happened to me
Sick gangsters never cheating lol
Only lieing lol
It's all the silly that makes the water look nasty
That rutted spot above the gun club was way worse at the end of May.
its spicy now the camera doesnt normally do it justice but stuff does change frequently
@@TrailMilitia I agree the camera almost makes it look flat, I didn't climb it I went down it but it still chopped my chilies a bit.😵💫
Awesome video! Which campground was this?
Thank you it’s Apple White Campground
It’s only 15 foot max if that in the middle I walked across that lake
No shit? Good to know it looks creepy aF from the shore
What was the date that you hit the closed gate? I know the vid is new, was it this week?
Yesterday
20+ years ago Lost Lake was much nicer, with nice parking and outhouse and tables. Then Richard Craniums had to mess it all up.
Richard? I’ll have to look this up
Where abouts was that water crossing?
On the way up to Lytle creek you’ll see it on the maps send me a Dm I can send you a pin drop on IG
Unless they decide to change their mind it is closed till December (so ridiculous) 😂
yea I had someone send me info. More than likely it’ll open before but we will see
How do you get to campsite ?
I believe it’s all first come first serve
@@TrailMilitia i know but do you know the name of campsite ?
@@Socaloverlander ohh my bad not off the top of my head there are a couple on that road I’m sure google maps will point them out
Applewhite campground in Lytle Creek.
Can you stay there?
Yes the area is BLM but double check some areas are private
Where is that camping area ?
Lytle creek
Look up Applewhite picnic area and Applewhite campground in Lytle Creek.
@@OgThugLuv thanks
Lytle creek is trashed. People leave their trash, diapers, beer cans all over the place there. Then they literally bathe in the water like it’s a bathtub. Pretty disgusting.
Yea unfortunately you are right we have gone up there a few times to clean but people will eventually get all of it shut down the way it’s going
