Hit my first chess tournament OTB and went from unrated to >1300. I’m coming for that NM title, coach!
    1 Vienna game
    1 Pirc
    1 London
All lines taught by NM Ramirez.
Thanks for the lessons. I keep referring to you hope people realize how lucky we are to have this high quality, highly palatable, yet somehow free instruction.

Way to go Zen. Good luck on reaching your goal. Alas having reached full Biblical life expectancy it's well beyond this wood-pusher's reach. Reminds me of the aphorism, "If only the young knew, if only the old could." Or, as Buddha said, "Decay is inherent in all compound things. Seek out your salvation with diligence." IOW get it while you can. Good luck!
Needless to say NM Ramirez' lessons are a gold mine of chess instruction given gratis for which we all owe a debt of gratitude. Thanks again kind sir!

I came across your channel a few weeks ago. It's taken me many hours to catch up to #116, but mission accomplished! I appreciate all of the content you have provided. Covid has crippled my desire to play OTB tournaments. You are the sole reason my love for the game hasn't dimension. Thank you 😊.

Really. Sounds familiar. As GM Huschenbeth says, "tactics are the foundation of everything else." Some cats got the knack, most cats don't. Individual talent is not evenly distributed, doggonit. Life just ain't fair! But even playing chess at amateur level is still well worth the effort. Cheers.

I have calculated that there is a 7.6875% chance that one of your students (from the channel) becomes a grandmaster. The chance is probably a lot more, around 20%, but the mathematical conclusion derives a chance of 7.7%. That's so cool when you think of it TBH. If you get 100k subscribers, there is a 40%+ chance that one of your students will be a grandmaster, and BTW, there is a 60% chance that one of your viewer is will eventually be a grandmaster.
That is so amazing, the probabilities are a lot larger, as I believe the viewers of this channel are a lot more serious about their chess career.
Your doing an amazing job! BTW, and informing you that through a bunch of statistics was the purpose of this comment.
    Thanks

@@NMRobertRamirez Hey, the past few days, I was slightly skeptical regarding the Pirc Defense, especially against certain variations where Black is simply losing by a lot...
I was on the verge of removing the Pirc Defense from my repertoire and learning the Sicilian, until yesterday, when I decided to try and find a strong line against some of the variations I fear in the Pirc Defense. I plugged in some of the variations I was scared of, and used Komodo and Leela (instead of stockfish) to analyze lines I can use to counter or prevent the variation I feared.
After hours of analyzing positions, I finally found lines that I was comfortable playing with the Pirc against some of those scary variations of White. One variation that I most dreadfully hated was:
      1. e4, d6
      2. d4, Nf6
      3. Nc3, g6
      4. Nf3, Bg7
      5. Bc4, O-O
      6. h6, c6
      7. O-O, Qc7
      8. a4, Nbd7
      9. Be3, e5
      10. dxe5, dxe5
And now Black is much worse. I cant really move my Rook on f8, as White would play Ng5 and force my rook back to f8. I can also not play h6, preventing Ng5, because then White has Qd2 and can pressure my h6 Pawn, creating some nice attacking chances.
Now, one line actually prevented all this nonsense.
      1. e4, d6
      2. d4, Nf6
      3. Nc3, g6
      4. Nf3, Bg7
      5. Bc4, O-O
      6. h3 - As soon as I see this h3 move, I can't play Bg4, so I instead play Nxe4, which now prevents the whole variation :).
Now, I still play the c6 plan, and that's probably the plan I play the most, but I also feared early e5 pushes, which really challenges the c6 system. Luckily Leela found a line against the e5 plan of White, which it calls equal. Komodo doesn't entirely disagree, but it still gives a 0.4 advantage to White. And best thing, I am comfortable with the plan!
      :)
