that’s a awesome and totally insane pedal board i love it,i have no idea how to use something like that i’m doing good with just my 6-7 Boss pedals and my amplifier, but i need more Boss pedals and batteries 🔋 lol and it’s time for Boss to make you a signature pedal i’d be 1st in line to buy it
I've missed the last few live streams but it's great to see all your updates in action! The pedal board looks absolutely satisfying to riff on! Can't wait to hear what's next!
It's seriously impressive what this guy can do, not just on guitar but the software side, and his backing tracks are so fire. Again it's not my kind of music normally but it's insane. It's also cool because he's been around since the 80's and most players not born after the 2000's reject new tech whereas he's always on the forefront. Also wild that the tone king plug in can get that heavy?!
Watched this video twice and my mind is still blown!! I have a video idea for you Tom, I know you said you're trying to streamline your board, but for us more traditional guys- could you show us how you'd do this set up with an amp and pedals (no computer)! Might be a bit of a challenge, but would love to see that!
Thanks mate. Yes that would be a big challenge, it’s possible but my previous board was absolutely huge and still didn’t do everything this setup does. Maybe one for the future on a king winters day haha. Feel free to join us on www.mcrocklin.com/discord if you’re not already there 👍🏻
Thank you Thomas for everything you have shared with us! Your definitely in a class of your own when it comes to your playing, love of the instrument & concerns for guitarists on our playing gains........ 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Playing 80% of the time in front of my pc, this is a set up I can see being really useful. Having a DAW and quite a few plug-ins, this would give easy access to a bunch of cool sounds without needing to stop playing, move the mouse, select this, that and get back into playing. Great video! Thanks Thomas.
Thanks for the detailed explanation!, I was waiting for a video like this where you go trough all your software chains!.... What CPU and RAM usage you have by running all that software at the same time?, How about latency?, Could you say what are your sample rate and buffer settings?.....
Thanks Alex! This is running on a Mac Studio Ultra, with a TB audio interface running at 24 / 44.1 at 128 buffer settings. The final round trip latency is 6ms. Thank you! Feel free to pop on www.mcrocklin.com/discord to chat any time 👍🏻

Hi Thomas, interesting stuff. I've been messing with Mainstage but often wondered about Abelton with various midi controllers with various Neural DSP plugins and also the SY200 now in my posession. The art I guess is making them all work together in a way that works. Appreciate this great insight. Thanks 🙂
I am so happy to have more than 90% of these sounds in my Kemper, except the sustainor. For that I use the digitech freqout. My board is much smaller😊 and your special knob is only a ring modulator. Also an fx of the Kemper😀😀🎸🎸I highly recommend to check the Kemper with the latest firmware and chime in into the world of cool fx. Cheers Frank
Hi. I bought a Blackstar Live Logic controller to switch between two or more digital devices on my pedalboard. Eventide H9 and Boss VE 500. Can live logic send an independent midi message under one button to different devices on different midi channels at the same time? It always switches me two devices at once setting the same bank on two devices. I have not yet managed to make the indicated banks work independently, despite working on different midi channels of these devices. I don't see that option in the app. Am I wrong or do I have to change Live Logic to a device from some company? This is in patch mode. The Boss E5 or ES8 controller sends up to 8 MIDI messages at the same time. There is no such problem. Please reply. I couldn't find this information online or in the manual
Hmmm I’m not 💯 sure but I thought it could. I’ve previously used a Daw to this and now use a Morningstar MC8 which definitely can send multiple commands per button.
This is great. I recently migrated into using an all digital rig using MainStage, and I'm loving this. I'm still missing a MIDI footswitch though but I am spending a lot of time into building each patch carefully with all the sounds I need, and planning out for the footswitch control in advance what I do want to control within each preset and what I need to have dialed in. Using a hybrid rig opens up so many possibilities and this approach you took is amazing, love the thought behind it and what you can do with it. Do you plan to also take it live on a laptop or will it be exclusive for studio rig?
Thanks! Yeah, I actually took a smaller version of this rig live and it worked really well. I’ll probably rebuild it slightly different soon with more flexibility, but for now it’s working great. Thanks again, Thomas
I would like to request to see more content about this stuff. Sure tone chasing is another thing of its own, but building some rigs like this is like writing prog music
do you play live? what do you do for a live rig? bring a laptop and run strait to FOH? Or do you have an anologue version of this rig? sry first time seeing this channel. I'm sure I'd be more aware of what's going on if I had been around a while.
I did a gig recently and I put a stripped down version of this onto a MacBook Pro M1, and it worked great going direct to front of house 👍🏻 it just sounded like a record, but live.
@@McRocklin just beautiful. I can appreciate a solid hybrid rig. I've been a tube amp guy for years. Still am. But I'm also very interested in more outside the normal realm of thinking. I've recently gotten into midi integration on my pedalboard allowing me to switch my amp channels and make pedal changes. The way I see my amp and pedalboard is like a full analog processor pedal but the only amp sound I have is my evh 5150 el34 100 watt head. I have other amps but with my evh there really is no other choice. Lol but yeah I'm finally getting it all in order where It functions like a big ole Helix or something. Sure its big and bulky but damn it sounds sweet. Id like to make an alternative to my rig though where I don't need my evh head. I'm thinking about the mooer preamp live to cover my amp sounds and be midi switchable. And maybe a seymour duncan power stage. Maybe 2 of them to build a stereo rig. But if I go that route I technically could just run cab less and send out to FOH. I would like to get into more sound fx like you have on your board but I'm not quite sure how to go about it. I know I'll need a decent synth pedal but I'm unsure of the best way to implement it. BTW I'm running an electro harmonix super switcher as my main controller. It manages my pedals. And I have the voodoo labs control switcher to communicate my amp with my super switcher. That with all my pedals, its a really fun rig. But my next move I think is going to be getting a stereo ab switcher so I can have my one expression pedal able to control 2 different pedals on my board individually or together. My pitchfork+ and my super pulsar. I want to do an effect where I start with a fast tremolo and pitch down while the tremolo slows down in rate. I can't think of any other way to make it happen. I think what this long ass reply is all about is how much fun it is to manipulate sound and create unique signal paths and rig setups. The sky truly is the limit. For me, building the rig is just as much fun as using it.
Question for you! I have to play songs that may have heavy synth or keys, but the keyboardist isn't playing this gig. Or multiple guitarists are on a track, and I'm going solo. How can I get more of a presence and have that extra capability? I use a Fractal FM9 now as my base. Thanks amigo!
@@McRocklin thanks for the reply. im a novice when it comes to software..got Neural an Bias fx mixxed up...have a great new yr for sure man. great riffs
