@@Bearskimethod thanks for the reply, I checked in the manufacturer specifications and it is 3/4” inner dimensions (20mm) and outer dimensions is (24mm)
Personally, I would recommend using silicone grease with the O-ring for a water tight seal. Vaseline jelly will do a number on that O-ring after about 8 months. I use to use Vaseline on my old Fluval canisters and the 2 that I had started leaking a little between 6-8 months. Turns out the O-rings pretty much done for. On one, I used plumbers putty which definitely sealed it tight for the next year (except when doing a cleaning, it makes for a pain to separate the pump housing and canister). Just suggestions.
Just ordered one. Been watching ALL the videos on this model and one suggested removing and coating the 0 ring with petroleum jelly to prevent leakage from the side of the canister which I plan to do perhaps before I loosen any screws. Lava rocks are an excellent upgrade. Great vidski! ;-{)
Great video good information! Just one thing I would change you should not have any mechanical after your biological. All your mechanical should be on the bottom. What You Do by putting filter pads after your biological is that your trapping waist in with your biological media which will then clogged up the pores and stuff in the lava rock. See pondguru he gives the best tips and set ups for any filtration.
Agree... also, unless you are using chemicals in your aquarium I would scrap the charcoal, as it is primarily for chemical filtration... If you do decide to use it be sure to change it regularly.
Very true n good idea about having same filters for spare parts IV got 4 canisters ones a sunsun hw702a and it cost me 60pound new I am impressed it's a great budget filter for the money it has way more room flow than my fluval n two eheims but the resoni don't get lots of sunsun is my ones got a it louder after running for 4month I think the propeller shafts wear down faster nthatswhy it's got louder maybe I wrong I love the filter don't get me wrong but as it's a cheap filter the motor won't last as long and if I had a lot the noise wouidnt be quiet not to mention they use a lot more electric that my others it uses twice as much as my eheim pro 2&half more than my fluval 207 and three times more than my eheim classic 250 I'm going to use the sunsun as a spare filter as I don't have that much tanks now if I run the fluval n eheimonmy tank it'll be quieter and save me 23pound a year electric not a huge saving but it all adds up the other two are less noisy than my sunsun alone it was OK when new but has got louder over time I don't wanna hear a slit hum I can't stand filter air pump humming lol
Ono's Fish Corner I am happy with it and most importantly they function as expected, even with a messy piranha tank, no issues keeping the water very clean. 👍🏻
I know marineland says the same, but most scientists say fine filtration at the end is pointless for the filter, my levels fell after a few months just switching the order
i think using 4 fine pads in a canister setup is too much. I would buy some medium sponge for the first tray and all the other filled by biomedia. If you add a pad on the last tray, all the particles are trapped underneath on the lava rocks and this is not good because they can block bacteria places.
Iv just been flooded out with one of these filters by all ponds solution. Furious 😡. Iv sent an email but no reply. Really annoyed at their customer service
I disagree with the order, Dr Tim agrees, you can large sponge first but then Should fine filter, why would you want to allow all the junk that gets by your sponge to go directly to your media/ bacteria source? It collects in your lava/ ceramic/ bio balls whatever, raising ammonia and all the bads!
U was doing so well u till u put at polishing pad at top any small crap at gets past first few trays well hit the top pad consintrating all the crap in ur bio media that's what u don't want remove it and put more bio or chemical media n ur good to go ats what I'd do but it's ur choose
@@Bearskimethod 100 % my friend, you need to run a filter with mechanical in the bottom (or first) course, medium and then fine in the bottom basket and then the next one or two baskets should have a good media in them (I use biohome ultra) im in the uk but im sure you can the same where you are. Last if you have been putting chemicals in your tank, put the charcoal in last. You will have more colourful fish and have to do a lot less water changes

Value for money, this is a great filter and does the same thing as an eheim or fx6. Great upload mate
Omg show the whole process please , like would love to see how it starts up and stuff

Thanks for this video. I found it very helpful as I run 2 of the exact same filters on my Cichlid tank.
Thank you for watching
Great video , I’ve use many of these nice tips before and it’s great advice, but I now only put pads and sponges on bottom tray .

I’ve seen people rag on this filter but I’m convinced it’s a great filter is there anything i should watch for
Chervaun Bryan nope, I mentioned a couple of adjustments needed and modifications of the medium used for filtration and that’s it.
A real workhorse 💪🏻
Thanks for the tips much appreciated
Thanks for the tip on the bolts
What was the purpose of loosening the screws on the head unit? I have 2 that have been running two years and never loosened those. Just wondering.
BassMan Strikes these canisters have been known to leak even new,. I just found a way to fix that.. that’s all

Can you use rocks from the river
Yup
Where can I get the padding I had got my mines from a family friend and it came with out it
You can use synthetic pillow fill even

I bought the 15W.. it comes with a 9W
could you add cotton in the sun sun tray and if so what tray level should it go into
Just use pillow fill

Hopefully you could make a video on how to use cotton in the canister and what level tray it should be at !
Why don't you use the ceramic rings bro?
Not course enough
