Knocked Loose's new album pushed the needle for metal in my opinion. It's been a long time since I have listened to a straight up heavy album and thought this is moving metal to new boundaries. For example, I felt that way about JFAC's doom ep over 15 years ago, I feel like it's in that category

Not having Sleepless Deathbed by Invent Animate under song of the year is a damn shame.
I don't think I saw invent animate in any. Category 😭😭
No Endless Hollow by Oceans ate Alaska. No What Do We See When We Leave This Place by Like Moths to Flames. No Easily Erased by Boundaries!?! S.o.t.Y felt pretty lackluster, mainly because I haven't heard 70 percent of those songs.

Allt for breakthrough artist of the year and Imminence for both Feels Are Real and Album of the Year (would be happy if Dig It by BMTH won Feels Are Real though)

As for feels... "To The Flowers" is one of only two metal songs that ever got me misty-eyed (other is "Constance") but that was mainly due to the accompanying music video, so I don't know if that counts in a song category...
I tear up at just the song instantly. Listening to SELF HELL enough times just to hear that song actually made me appreciate the album for what it is too whereas at first I thought it was a steaming pile of 💩
The music video is definitely a work of art- it conveys so mcuh relatable emotion in a 4 min space. The actors, the directing, the song... I never would've thought that tapping runs could convey frantic grief, but somehow they nailed it. I just wish the rest of their stuff was as good. @@toyotaecw

There is a lot of my favourite things missing. So was bit difficult to choose for me. But i definitely went all the LP options. Im bias, what can i do. Nothing will beat the comeback this year! I voted for Emily as vocalist as well 😅

I want Boundaries or Linkin Park to win album of the year. If Vola was in best album category I would want them to win too. Btw SOTY for me even though it's not on the list is Dark, Silent & Complete by Unprocessed

2:51 Voltreus dropped the alligator stuff 2 years ago with blur & jaded (jaded being released after STP but was written 3 years ago) before slaughter to prevail. Just saying 😬

A Wake In Providence and Enterprise Earth didn’t get any love, but otherwise thought the nominations were legit. Also thought Brandon Zackey should have been nominated for drummer seeing as he went from recording the Enterprise Earth album to Whitechapel’s new album and they are entirely different styles of deathcore.
My biggest problem is Enforced was not nominated for EP of the year

Same. I just can't get past the tinny snare aesthetic they go for or Brian's vocals. Disembodied Tyrant deserves all the love- Blake is a MONSTER. Everything he touches turns to deathcore gold. I think he reinvigourated a stagnant genre in a big way.

chris should get drummer of the year. he's been doing his own crazy shit for a couple years now and only lost the last two years because of album hype with lorna and sleep token. yes, archy and II are great, but chris would have deserved and imo won if not for the albums

This was the year of nu metalcore to me personally. Diamond Construct, Alpha Wolf, Graphic Nature, Thrown all banher albums.

Katie is a vtuber and has been one of the biggest voices in the vtubing community for metal music for a long time now and recently put out an absolute fuck ton of cover songs for metal songs like VIKING or To the Hellfire to name a few over the course of an entire year, she is an absolute badass who has worked hard to achieve everything she has done and she immediately stole my vote with that fact
Katie's content is bloody fantastic, was super cool to see her nominated

Disagree. CJ’s vocals were top notch as always but musically I don’t think the album pushed any boundaries.
@ it wasn’t most experimental or boundary pushing album of the year. It’s the album you most enjoyed listening to.
I'm biased, there's so many songs to account for etc etc, I get it, but no Allt in SOTY or AOTY is criminal imo.

Doesn't put IA but puts Left Behind by TPIY that came out LAST year. Great song but weird to be on the list. Counterparts not in breakdown of the year is insane too. And only album of the year for LMTF? Over The Garden Wall or Kintsugi could've been in feels are real lol.

Amazing event, but the lack of Allt feels wrong for me personally. Can't argue with a majority of the categories and their noms, but I feel like he picked the wrong songs for several bands.

If you don’t have Knocked Loose or Boundaries as best album or Counterparts as best EP, idk what you’re smoking. The production on all of those projects are boundary pushing.
I felt like the knocked loose album at 28 minutes is too short to be AOTY. I would have voted for it for EP of the year.

The only problem I had with Nik having an award show was that I wasn’t getting an award…🤷🏻♂️
Of course I haven’t produced any music but that small hiccup aside I really don’t see any other reason for not just nominating me but ultimately letting me win. And not just win, but gloat about it in front of all my dozens of fans that I don’t technically have 😅
