I remember watching your videos wayyyy back in the day when you had that 2019 KX250 and i commented talking about how I was getting mine soon and you responded. I did in fact get that bike and I still have it, hardly ever ride and took it to a track about once so no motivational story but man that was a core moment in my childhood. Glad I found the channel again

Your getting way better at riding dude, keep at it! I got a new bike, a 2016 yz125! I put a sound test up on yt shorts which as got a couple thousand views which is nice, hoping to move to this style of context but also love the bike!

Also their is 3 factory ecu maps on the bike their is a button and you can switch between aggressive map or slower map and it changes a bit of the gears it helps in different types of terrains on different tracks adjust according to the track your on

Till ya ride a new KTM or Yamaha that is.
@@bradyn2193i had my whole suspension redone with softer springs and other stuff and now it rides a thousand times better

Yes the forks are super stiff on this bike but in Hondas defense, you should always change springs in the forks that suit your weight when buying a new bike, no matter the brand.
I'm new to the hobby. How much will it cost to get the forks feel comfy?

I'm in a similar boat. Have dreams of riding like this and was born in a massive field desert called Ohio.
I feel like the only people that like this bike are Honda people. Seems like the forks are way too stiff for most riders. You ripped it though!
Well that’s good cause stock forks are always way too soft for me
I felt pretty comfy on it instantly but yeah the forks are a definitely a little stiff. Thanks bro!

I have a 23 250f. I agree with the forks being to stiff. I took a sharp but slow turn and almost dropped it

this bike is a lot of fun man you'll enjoy it. I used mostly 3rd and 4th gear during this video but went down to 2nd for a couple of the tight corners.
Hey derek im staring to get heavly into motorcross what should be my first bike( i have ridden 3 times before and i learn very quickly i was on a 250cc bike and i handled the track very well imo) any recommendations
What oil do you run on this bike ? And every 5 hours ish fresh oil too ?

Still need to ride one of these and the YZ.. hear the KX and CRF are very similar
You can ride my YZ dude! But funny you say that about CRF and KX, I felt the opposite haha. The CRF feels way lighter than the KX, CRF has way more bottom end power than the KX, and the CRF was way easier to initiate a corner. They both have pretty stiff harsh feeling forks stock. KX has WAYYYYY more top end power - seriously KX high rpm power is excellent it just keeps pulling, where you would need to shift up on the CRF. I think my KX feels overall more stable but I definitely could corner the CRF more precisely.
@@DerekHallman Yeah need to ride it bro!! Hmm I wonder if you'll notice the difference in my 23 KX since that when they did the motor revisions.. The kx for sure is a top end machine. I am amazed how far it revs out.
Once you re spring the front forks it’s great. put 100 hours on my 22
Did you put 100 hours on the original top end? Pretty solid reliability if so! I didn't mind the stiffness forks because this track is really smooth. If I rode it on a rougher track I'm sure I'd want a revalve haha.

Them new Honda live at the rev limiter don't be be afraid to live there the faster u ride it the smoother it feels
I was test riding a friend's brand new bike, I'm not going to ride it on the rev limiter the entire time lol. And these new Hondas feel the exact opposite. The 2021 and prior crf250r you absolutely wanted to ride it near rev limiter to get power out of it. This newest generation crf250r motor is completely different - has a ton of torque but the power up stops pulling pretty quick. Probably better off keeping it in the midrange.

great vid! personally i do not really like my 22 crf250r. it is one of the new gen bikes. i came off a 2019 yz250f and i like the yz better honestly

@@DerekHallman i just don't like how unstable the front end is, and it has a lot less power and like almost no top end power. You have to keep it in just the right RPM to stay anywhere close to the other bikes in its class. If you look at the dyno charts it's the second slowest bike in its class nest to the rmz

250 and 450 both the same height . Just matters how much you weigh
Hey dude I am 6'3 but as long as you're at least 5'5 you should be fine on a 250 four stroke.

I ride atvs I have a Honda 400ex and I been wanting to get into dirt bikes I never rode one before (honestly) do yous recommend for me a 250r or the 150r
How tall are you? If you are 5ft5in or up definitely get the 250r. If under I would recommend getting an 85 2t over a 150r 4t.

Nah I don't think so! I'm 6'3 and 180 pounds. With your weight you might want more power, but if you're a beginner this is perfect for ya.
