Adams was seriously underrated. Never had the athleticism of Maldini (probably the greatest) but he was a great defender. After being destroyed in the 1988 european championships, he rose from 1990 onwards to be almost mistake free. Was well drilled, could read the game perfectly, had bravery, and actually got even better once Arsene Wenger took over at Arsenal. Martin, I'm sorry, love you and all that as an Arsenal fan, but you were not fit to lace Tony's boots.

And you're right, his tackling was second to none. 88 Euros aside, he never let England down.
