Im in my 5th year of coaching both youth and high school. This is a great list. Above all i try to remember my job is to teach the game to the best of my ability and help shape good young men for wherever they go in life. The wins and accolades are just extras. Great content 👍

I understand your point about over punishing however those windsprints are very important. They make a difference in the 4th quarter when you start to see hands on hips

depends on tempo of your practice and ending on a fun conditioning drill vs wind sprints

Always have 2-3 back ups for Center. I ran into that my 2nd year. That game didn't go so well for us

I'm used to running conditioning sprints at the end of practice while they are already tired (push them even more). Because we are a small town our lineman plays both O and D line. I agree some players (smaller ones) are ready as far as stamina, however what do you do about the bigger guys because if they are not in shape we cannot run anything?

Another point that you pointed out in your in your video was talking about how the kids were playing out of position because the father said oh he's a running back or he's a quarterback and most cases what I would do with those kids that their parents said that they play this position or that position was when you put them in game type situation and when they begin to get hit it showed that they weren't running backs or quarterbacks okay but we always can find some place to use them at and if they choose to be a running back we won't shy away from it we will work with them on that but at the end of the day we are going to put the kids in the best position to help the team a lot of parents didn't like this and they would cause confusion about the adults and it's really not about the father or the mother it's about the kids and training them and learning and teaching them the sport of football along the way teach them camaraderie and let them be able to work as a team meet friends learn sportsmanship but most importantly learn to have self respect for themselves and a lot of parents put too much on the kids' shoulder they want them to be a superstar I believe in letting the kids be a child as long as possible along the way working with foot footwork drills and tackling drills in the off-season is fine but in most in cases like my grandson when football season is over he began to start preparing for baseball so teaching and learning those kids it is most important and a lot of kids that I coached I got the kids that had been in the dys department of youth services that they've been in jail all summer those were the kids that I would go and get because I feel as if everybody deserves another chance and a lot of those kids I was able to reach and some are doing well in life some aren't but just having an opportunity to be a part of their life and try to guide them in the right direction make me feel good

I def disagree with the conditioning. Conditioning will win or lose games at any age

most young players do not need as much as everyone thinks. that is the point

No one child is above the team . This kid had great talent as an athlete but coaches put him on a pedestal. The young man would talk down toward his team mates due to how the coaches would give all the reps to this one player. Coaches saying negative things about other player to this kid and he uses it in practice against his team mates. What happened was that the O-line would not block for him on game day. To coach you must be willing to put in the work. I would spend my time getting the ones that may not have had as much talent as the others. By the 3rd game of the year 6 kids that had never played football were competting for starting jobs. Everyone job was up for grabs weely. The kid with all the talent ended up only playing one position. He lost his QB position due to turnovers . The young man who took over at QB was 1 of the 6 who was not as talented but he was very smart. We ended ul winning the YFL Championship 10yr Termites . He threw 4 TD in 3quaters and was named MVP of the Championship 52 - 8 ! Use your time to build up your weaker players as the season progresses you are surely going to need them. Encourage your players to encourage and lift up their teammates . Pull your vetrans to the side and challange them to be Leaders on and off the feild !

In coaching football you also have to be a psychologist you have to know that each individual child don't does not respond to the same thing so you also have to find ways of getting to know your players and know what make each player tick at the end of the day we also like to be responsible for our kids so we as coaches should carry ourselves and a professional manner to keep the respect of the kids many times I've seen coaches dating the mothers and the kids were playing in positions that they did not they did not have to be in or they couldn't play but because he's dating the mother he decides to put the child at quarterback or running back I disagree with this because I spent my time every year as I was coaching youth football I will spend my time on the weekly kids to get them used to contact to teach them the game not just to throw them out there just to be an extra body to have on the field and you keep using the same people over and over you can destroy a child's mentality sports and they may not choose to play anymore I greatly appreciate your video that you put up because they also remind me a lot of the things that I do I've done myself

ive leared to say things 3 to 5 different way. kids all learn and understand things differently
