Why is it when everyone references the WW vs Superman scene, they never mention Diana was not trying to really fight Superman. She was holding back because she hoped he’d remember who he was.
Sadly, I agree. Wonder Woman wins on this one. Although I must say that despite Supergirl's lack of training, she was a formidable fighter when facing most opponents, due to her tremendous strength and various powers. When facing other Kryptonians with more combat experience, Supergirl takes advantage of her flight and heat vision. In several versions of her fight with General Zod, Supergirl is able to initially overwhelm him, landing multiple strikes. However, in each alternate timeline, Zod's superior skills prevail, and so he adjusts after a few minutes, and stabs her to death. Since Supergirl, even under a yellow sun, can be wounded by sharp pieces of Kryptonian metal. Which would imply not being the exception with Diana's sword that directly by passes her durability and Supergirl herself doesn't have damage output feats to suggest she can hurt Diana any better than Doomsday did.
While Supergirl and Wonder Woman would put up a good fight, I would argue that Wonder Woman would be the ultimate victor. Kara has shown that despite gaining power from the yellow sun, she tires quickly and easily. Plus she was constantly and consistently defeated by Zod who was wearing his Kryptonian suit that filters out the yellow sun radiation and keeps him from using his full Kryptonian powers. So, Supergirl is clearly not amongst the strongest of the Kryptonians like Superman, who beat Zod at his peak. How Wonder Woman performed against Doomsday, who is also far stronger than Supergirl, is also enough to show that Diana can defeat Kara in battle, especially when Diana has the means to deal damage to Kryptonians.
It would probably be a different story had she been absorbing since infanthood, like Clark. She would have probably found a way to conserve her energy better and would have more experience with her powers.

We can scale a weakened Ares above Wonder Woman, who fought on par with Doomsday, and did as well as Superman. An amped Ares who killed the gods, or Zeus could beat Supes But I will agree black suit Supes from Zsjl is most definitely at Zeus and full powered Ares tier.

You can’t say Diana looked like a statue when Flash was moving. Both times they were shown near each other while he was going fast, she was in mid air and at the mercy of her momentum, one from being held, than thrown by Supes, the other when she fell to catch her sword.
On another video group (Death Battle) they said in WW lore the bracelets not only deflect anything but they actually limit her strength. Remove them and her strength increases a lot. Definitely WW for the win.
What you failed to acknowledge that Diana held back her god-mode power against Aries and Superman. During the fight with Aries, Diana went ballistic god mode when she was Steve Trevor's plane exploded. We saw a glimpse of Diana's strength and speed. In the Justice League movie, Diana held back her god-mode strength and speed against Clark. She didn't subjects Clarke to the power of the lasso, the same lasso she used to restrain Dooms Day in Batman V Superman movie. In addition, in Wonder Woman 1984, and Flash she can fly and have her healing factors. She could also turn objects invisible.

Diana is far ahead in fighting skills and combat experience. Remember it was the Amazons who trained Kara. The only way these two would get into a fight if one is under some kind of mind control or is a threat to mankind. I love Kara, but Diana is the Queen Bee of the Justice League for a reason.

I don't think people understand how powerful Superman actually is, even compared to Wonder Woman. Here is a good scale to remember, Wonder Woman had trouble going ALL out against Steppenwolf, while Superman beat him without even trying.... he was so much faster, stronger and outclassing him that it was a joke... that's the reality of it.

I don’t think the speed assessment of Wonder Woman is correct. She was thrown in the air when Superman and the Flash fought - you can’t change your velocity while being flung like that unless you have flight. She was able to grab her sword when the Flash pushed it back to her, and speed blitzed Ares, an actual god. I think her speed is understated in this.
Gotta disagree. You choose a point in time when Supergirl was just beginning to absorb light and build her strength after years in the dark. Also, she was fighting a male Kryptonian who was strong enough to go head-to-head with a non-holding-back Superman. Supergirl was at her weakest and you compared her to a WW at her strongest, with weapons, and matured. Supergirl would eventually absorb enough sunlight so she wouldn't run out of energy any more than Superman (Supergirl wins!).

While it shouldn't necessarily be a cakewalk, it would take years of training and sunlight exposure for Kara to catch up and surpass Diana in stamina and skill. Time she doesn't have in this incarnation of the character. It's a little disappointing to see such a low showing for Kara, but perhaps some day, we will get a cinematic version that is portrayed with more strength and perhaps an even better story.

Diana is actually much stronger if we use power scaling. Newborn Doomsday is stated in a guide as stronger than Zod and Diana held her own against Adapted Doomsday. Also Zod was fighting MOS Superman who is inferior to BVS Superman via promotional material for the movie.

If we’re going by all the DCEU movies, something that has never been explored is the full extent of WW’s god-like powers. In her 2017 movie, Diana was shown to have a new level of strength and speed, and there was some form of protective aura when her God-killer powers were activated. She also absorbed lightning and redirected it back at Ares. Snyder reduced her speed & strength levels significantly from BVS to the Snydercut to sell the “need for Superman to save the day” plotline. His essential depiction of her “God-killer” power as just a concussive force that just pushes villains back a couple of feet. This power is what Zeus sacrificed himself to save the world from Ares. The same Zeus, who broke the unity of the Motherboxes with just one shot of his lightning. It took the combined powers of cyborg and Superman to do the same. Even her sword couldn’t pierce through Steppenwolf’s armor but could cut Doomsday’s arm before. 🤷🏻♂️ Bottomline, WW’s weakness is inconsistent storytelling. 😂
I always get irritated at how they talk about how easily superman beat wonder woman and Aquaman and cyborg and the flash. First of all none of them were actually trying to hurt him. None of them were going all out. I doubt they were even at 50% effort. And the fact that people don’t get this it’s mind-boggling. If wonder woman truly went all out on superman, she has combat skills that she has honed over thousands of years that he cannot grasp. And if he did win overall it would be one of the hardest earn wins he would ever have!

you got to love how over the years mainly comic...both heroes and Villians get upgraded , re worked origins and so on. I mean the original version of Wonder Woman was she was made out of Clay by her mother Hippolyta and brought to life....the new version her parents are Zeus and Hippolyta ....then you have Supergirl with many different versions since the Death of the original in the Crisis on Infinate Earths. back in the 1980's.

I fully agree with you. Superman actually facing against Wonder Woman was actually one who was just brought back to life. The DCEU has shown us time and time again that killing Superman and him coming back like when he got nuked just makes him stronger then the last time. Superman who was actually faster than the Flash which shocked the Flash. Wonder Woman is dealing with a Kryptonian who is weak in comparison and the whole passing out bit well Wonder Woman can easily wait her out. Comic book speaking Supergirl like Superman is supposed to be weak to magic. Thus the sword of Athena should be able to kill Supergirl in one hit given the right spot. Supergirl under the yellow sun just isn't enough.
Wonder Woman has too much magic for Supergirl to take her. I think they seriouslt downplayed WW's true capabilities in the scene where they were dealing with the freshly resurrected Kal-El in Justice League.

I don’t think the speed assessment of Wonder Woman is correct. She was thrown in the air when Superman and the Flash fought - you can’t change your velocity while being flung like that unless you have flight. She was able to grab her sword when the Flash pushed it back to her, and speed blitzed Ares, an actual god. I think her speed is understated in this.
Now looking at it from this prospective, makes sense.

While it shouldn't necessarily be a cakewalk, it would take years of training and sunlight exposure for Kara to catch up and surpass Diana in stamina and skill. Time she doesn't have in this incarnation of the character. It's a little disappointing to see such a low showing for Kara, but perhaps some day, we will get a cinematic version that is portrayed with more strength and perhaps an even better story.
I hope they show how powerful she is in the upcoming DCU movie.

If we’re going by all the DCEU movies, something that has never been explored is the full extent of WW’s god-like powers. In her 2017 movie, Diana was shown to have a new level of strength and speed, and there was some form of protective aura when her God-killer powers were activated. She also absorbed lightning and redirected it back at Ares. Snyder reduced her speed & strength levels significantly from BVS to the Snydercut to sell the “need for Superman to save the day” plotline. His essential depiction of her “God-killer” power as just a concussive force that just pushes villains back a couple of feet. This power is what Zeus sacrificed himself to save the world from Ares. The same Zeus, who broke the unity of the Motherboxes with just one shot of his lightning. It took the combined powers of cyborg and Superman to do the same. Even her sword couldn’t pierce through Steppenwolf’s armor but could cut Doomsday’s arm before. 🤷🏻♂️ Bottomline, WW’s weakness is inconsistent storytelling. 😂

The DCEU has shown us time and time again that killing Superman and him coming back like when he got nuked just makes him stronger then the last time. Superman who was actually faster than the Flash which shocked the Flash. Wonder Woman is dealing with a Kryptonian who is weak in comparison and the whole passing out bit well Wonder Woman can easily wait her out. Comic book speaking Supergirl like Superman is supposed to be weak to magic. Thus the sword of Athena should be able to kill Supergirl in one hit given the right spot.
