Finally! A reviewer who can spot the details -- the important ones others miss -- and who does not bore us with lurid tail slides. Bye-bye /DRIVE, I'm now a CNET subscriber.
The evolutionary incarnation of America's only true sports car. The base Vette with a carbon fiber hood and roof panel with the z51 performance package is an extremely hard show to beat. This brawny, sophisticated, well tuned piece of rolling muscle is a mega bargain. Bravo Chevrolet! looking forward to parking this baby in my garage. Good Tidings to all and a very merry Joyride!
Phenomenal review. I learn so much from these reviews, I've watched at least 7 other reviews and none mentioned that all the new corvettes are hardtops with a storage system designed for it in the back.
I was skeptical at first about the vette but now that I own one, I must say.... there is nothing like it for the price. The power and handling of this car is simply amazing. All for under $60k. Feels good spanking an M5 on the Taconic Parkway. Home run Chevy, homerun
Have to disagree with low-tech. You don't see or get to play with too much tech but there is a whole heck of a lot going on backstage. Just the idea of magnetic ride control is kind of amazing when you read about how it works.
Cool daddy cooley you make watching a great time, knowing what you are talking about and your way of empathizing is enjoyable & some of your comic expressions give me a kick . GIVE the man more money!
We have CNG filling stations everywhere in my country. And it is alot cheaper than petrol on everyday basis. Also it only takes about just under $1000 to convert into a CNG running car. And the petrol functionality is still available whenever you need it. All you gotta do is press a button and it converts back to petrol combustion. The only downside is that the CNG cylinders add weight to the car. Yup thats about it. I drive a 2003 Civic and it runs on petrol and CNG. Works like a charm.
I like the new c7. But I'm one of those who wasn't a fan of the past few generations. For me, this new one brings a welcomed breeze of freshness -- just what was needed to win over a new fan. If or when I get one I want the 3LT Z51 7spd laguna blue with black wheels and red brembo calipers with body colored top.
Interesting fact - taxis in Japan must be hybrid or CNG/LPG . In my country many drive on LPG (liqufied petroleum gas) . Conversion costs less than $1000 and tank goes where spare wheel used to go . It contains tank , pipes , evaporator and solenod fuel switch . Only problem is that you have a bit less pover (~5-10%) .
Your C7 review was vastly different from your competition. I got the impression this C7 was a complete home run. Your the first review to compare it to the C6.
I haven't been to Thailand in over three years, but they have been using the CNG for many years before the last time I have been there. The first few times I seen a taxi stop and get NVG I was wondering what they were doing. From what I understand is they could also use regular gas as well. The problem with the taxi's is there was a large tank in the trunk for the CNG, so there was less room in the back for luggage. It's seems odd that the U.S. is just starting to talk about this. But back in Thailand more than three years ago gas was still equal to more than $4 a gallon of gas. And the average earnings for the people there is much much less than the U.S. SO maybe the CNG was more economical for them.
In EU, CNG is in use more than decade.. in my country, taxis and most of population are using CNG or methane, because its half price of gasoline and low CO2, and you can buy it on every petrol station. :) Also, you can order a car with factory CNG or methane without compromising space for luggage, but y do with aftermarket system. :) Price to install CNG in States is way too high, here is 600-1500 e, depending on engine type . :)
Good review, only spotted one mistake. In the Stingray, only 6th and 7th are overdrive gears(which kinda ticks me off, to be honest), 5th is a performance gear.
Never been too much of a corvette guy, but I see buying one of these used at a good price in the future a bargain... It actually looks cool & in person even more so...!
I saw the comment about not comparing to a Ferrari...well, Motortrend put them both on a racetrack and the vette was only .23 seconds slower... For that price and performance, it is a sick deal. I love Ferrari's, but perhaps they should outperform a vette much more than that for that price!
We have a lot of natural gas cars here in Korea. They are LPG rather than CNG though. The annoying thing about having two kinds of engines on the road is that you can't just stop at any gas station. You have to check if it is oil or LPG. I've driven one of the LPG cars before, and didn't notice much of a difference in range and performance.
Bloody love the new stingray all I need to do now is just bring one back to the UK and make all the Chavez go very quiet and I think I might give the Nissan gtr's a race up Milton Keynes :)
Pininfarina is not Ferrari. It is an independent Italian designer & coachworker builder that has contracted with several manufacturers. The 1963 Corvette design was a collaboration between Larry Shinoda, Bill Mitchell, & Zora Arkus-Duntov. Nothing to do with Ferrari.
US and UK uses different cycles and standards to test fuel economy despite them having the same "MPG" call out. A Prius gets 50 MPG in US and 71 MPG in UK and its the same car.
I love HUDs in cars but chevy just has the most boring ones make something like the BMW M5 M HUD and dang Ill be impressed it even tells you the speed limit of the road on the HUD in very bright and nice colors almost like having a LCD built into your windshield extremely clear
GM should consider making Corvette a Brand and only make performance car model. the name of Corvette is so popular and full of racing history. CNG is very clean. I did a oil change on a CNG engine after 20000 miles. the oil is clean as the new one I put in. the only problem is the storage system is huge in the trunk compare to a gas tank. lol
***** because mid-engine is has a better center of gravity the transmission wont exceed the weight transfer. The new ZR1 is going to be mid-engine. Look it up. The ZR1 will set the way future corvettes are made. GM has been considering the mid engine vette for years but its expensive to change a factory to be set up like that. So the ZR1 will be the platform for C8 and production should be within 5 years. The ZR1 is said to be twin turbo and going to be at least 800hp and 750 pounds of torque. But the price for the ZR1 will most likely be close to 200000
***** The 911 is rear engine. I don't think they should go to the mid engine route, it's not meant to me some mid engine, hyper car, it's a corvette. Also, they've managed to balance the car beautifully in front and back these days, the transmission in the rear definitely helps. Just look at the Ligenfelter C5, they managed to get it to go 0-60 in 1.97 seconds.
In Europe its Imperial gallons which are different from the regular US gallons, so those European cars that get 40 mi to the gallon get like 33 in US gallons
check out the Gitano 111 or also know as GT111. its a prototype, an electric sports car that charges itself, no need to recharge. "invented in Philippines"
The C5 was just an example, cause I never liked the C5 rear. Of course the rear of the C6 with the rounded lights was the best of all. (especially the wider types like the Grand Sport, Z06 or ZR1)
The same guys who say it looks like Ferrari are the same guys who say rear end looks like a Camaro. The new design is instantly recognizable as a 'vette. Guessing the reason some people say looks like a Ferrari is because of fancy headlights &/or saw the showcar in red. By the way, Magnetic Ride suspension was first implemented on Caddy & then Vette & then Ferrari. Who's copying who? Also, Caddy Art & Science design looks nothing like Ferrari or any other manufacturer for that matter.
Cooley is is the best damn reviewer period! Anyone who watches his earlier reviews from the late 00's can understand he has truly tuned his craft. YES, he can come off as an ass sometimes but you have to admit his comments are fair and objective...he tells it like it is...not how the manufactures want you to hear it. Also for newcomers this channel leans toward TECH. Understand that going in and don't let your feelings get hurt because you are too attach to a vehicle to separate your emotions from Cooley's opinion

Very good presenter. This guy knows how to do a car show.
Agreed, except he was touching it too much. lol
"WHO DID 1.5G's?!" BWAAHAHHAHAHAHHAH
IoNFilmsHD I thought that he wasnt touching it enough.
mattorama Brian's the man.
I'm not much of a Corvette guy but this car has come along way since its prior generation.
Corvette is without a doubt an American icon
Never thought Id love a Corvette...but I do!
Phenomenal review. I learn so much from these reviews, I've watched at least 7 other reviews and none mentioned that all the new corvettes are hardtops with a storage system designed for it in the back.
The last Vette that would ever be for men....RIP
Stingray = sports car
Z06 = supercar
Great review Cooley! We need you back.
I was skeptical at first about the vette but now that I own one, I must say.... there is nothing like it for the price. The power and handling of this car is simply amazing. All for under $60k. Feels good spanking an M5 on the Taconic Parkway. Home run Chevy, homerun
+Jared Malan why did you have to go go there. Really
Corvette thoughts = Badass, high powered, and a technological monster. A must have for me.
Have to disagree with low-tech. You don't see or get to play with too much tech but there is a whole heck of a lot going on backstage. Just the idea of magnetic ride control is kind of amazing when you read about how it works.

I so want to experience the new Vette's linear power delivery. Every reviewer has loved it and it seems like so much fun to play with!
My goodness this corvette is beautiful.
This guy reviews cars like no other A+
Probably the nicest looking American car on the road right now

One of the best episodes Mr. Cooley!
I honestly must admit that the 2014 Chevy Corvette Stingray is definitely fantastic in every aspect possible (including gas mileage) :)
- Michael Land
Best show ever on youtube. I love you Cooley!
No one is better than Jeremy clarkson
Yes the new episode is in! I've been waiting!
Cooley could use his own T.V. show on history or something.
You're finally back!
Great video. Watched this for the Vette, but the natural gas part was interesting as well
a show i actually learn from. thanks cnet
The trumpets of hell. Love it. Cooley is the best.
Stingray! Yes please.
Cars are the best thing on earth. I own 3 cars but i call them my 3 kids lmao
Finally! where you been on cars
Cooley is a smooth talking guy. You should do all the car tech reviews man
Oh my gawd!! Finally Cooley is back!
Green w black rims looks surprisingly good! almost an off black..would never have said that with the c6
I like the new c7. But I'm one of those who wasn't a fan of the past few generations. For me, this new one brings a welcomed breeze of freshness -- just what was needed to win over a new fan. I love the lights on corvette
great episode!!
Terrific episode. Your best yet.
We love ours!!!

400+ hp, 20-30 mpg, that some real hacking techs.
Best auto reviewer
Gosh, I want this car. It's Raw af
best episode ever.Cooley your the reason i watch cnet. clarfication i heard cng has higher compression ratio when compared to diesel and petrol

this 720p60 resolution is good and better to watch in hd.
The car looks awesome
The no mid engine corvette comment didn't age very well haha
the only non-biased non apple worshipper on cnet. cooley is the best
Good review, only spotted one mistake. In the Stingray, only 6th and 7th are overdrive gears(which kinda ticks me off, to be honest), 5th is a performance gear.

I hope chevy always keeps the naturally aspirated v8 and supercharged v8. This is the way corvette is meant to be. And no downsizing, and no turbos
Still I think I would miss the absolute feeling of hitting warp speed when flooring my 2014 5.0.....crazy thrust for under 30K
Its slower than the C7 so you wouldn't miss it
@@erickirshner2810 It's cheaper too lol. Moved on to a GT350 anyway!
very nice show Mr. Cooley!
Awesome episode!
not a huge fan of the look of the car inside or out but i do actually like what GM is doing with the quality of cars now
.

They should give that eco option to the 2015 v8 mustang. It would be very convenient to go from fuel efficiency to power at the press of a button.
Bloody love the new stingray all I need to do now is just bring one back to the UK and make all the Chavez go very quiet and I think I might give the Nissan gtr's a race up Milton Keynes :)
Seeing one of these on the showroom floor stops every single person in their tracks! They definitely do not last long!!!
Cooley makes cnet. Big fan keep it up
Plus Europeans us a lot of turbo diesel setups to get their MPG, so that's why it's relatively higher over there.
Good show
Just paddles to activate rev-matching. Not actually shift paddles for influencing the transmission.
What a beauty.
Bryan was the only person of the hosts who could have ever made this episode work.
the new corvette looks nice.
thanks. switching between stick and paddles, how cool would this be?
possibly the best american car ever
US and UK uses different cycles and standards to test fuel economy despite them having the same "MPG" call out. A Prius gets 50 MPG in US and 71 MPG in UK and its the same car.
good show cooley!
Great show, I'm hooked!
I like this guy...
For supercars you left out the 1962 Chevy 409 with aluminum front end. Remember the old beach boys song "409"- "She's real fine my 409 ..."
I love HUDs in cars but chevy just has the most boring ones
make something like the BMW M5 M HUD and dang Ill be impressed it even tells you the speed limit of the road on the HUD in very bright and nice colors almost like having a LCD built into your windshield extremely clear

exactly what i thought. like they should make this one. a mid engine hypercar, and some other cars ment for performance
Alejandro Garcia Why would they make it mid engine?
***** because mid-engine is has a better center of gravity the transmission wont exceed the weight transfer. The new ZR1 is going to be mid-engine. Look it up. front engine rear wheel can be made to be just as good if not better than mid engine. Perfect is example are 911's which are perfect.
*****

Does every coupe still have the removable roof? If so what is the point of a soft top convertible?
No, it's an option.
Taylor Bauer you're wrong
Mozo901 no, I'm not. Its the targa top. Look it up.
Taylor Bauer Not for the 2015 model. 2:59
+Andrew Truong To have the back without obstruction, and have the "proper" convertible experience.
surprisingly great review!
aha.. now wait for the 2015 z06 c7 :) with more then 650 hp supercharged engine
did you see the c8 yet? and the ZR1 1064hp?
love this show ! ... keep it up :)
When would you even need/want to do that?
No mech hand-brake for manual version? No hand brake turn then.
So thats an automatic with paddle shifters?
COOOLLLEEYYY. we love you
They do, its called CNET On Cars.
Love Cooley!
