Rhyl Station on 20th May 1995
North Wales Coast Motive Power Day
Continuing with my archive of video recording between the years of 1986 to 2001 this clip is of Rhyl Station taken on 20/05/1995 from off the station to the west about 200 yards. Later then from the platform east end. As the Crewe Rail Events Committee were hosting North Wales Coast Motive Power Day a grand selection of traction was captured on video along with the normal service trains along the north wales route. Locomotives involved in the event were 60085, 56071, 20075 + 20128, and 37066 + 37142. As you will see the trips were well attended and the weather was very kind albeit a little blustery at times. I hope the video takes you back to this period with fond memories. Feel free to comment, good or bad, all comments are read and greatly appreciated, but it is not always possible to answer each individually. Sit back and enjoy this latest production remembering all those now long gone Locomotive classes and other types of traction. Many thanks for all subscriptions and all of those viewers who have kindly shown an interest in my material.

Fantastic video as always. Thanks for these. Use to love going between Rhyl and Chester on a first gen DMU especially if the driver had left the blind up so we could get a cab veiw.

Excelled stuff! My nan and grandad had a van near Prestatyn right next to the train line and I used to just sit watching for trains all day back in the 80s when I was little and had hair. I remember when the Super Sprinter was considered new and I’m only 49 😂 Miss those days (and the days when you could stick your head out of the window for some fresh air). I now know what I’ll be spending my weekend watching. Cheers for uploading all these!

I remember the semaphores gantry by the bridge (as the Rhyl local people called it the ‘H’ bridge) towards Abergele, was a good indication that trains were coming from Abergele for train spotters 👍🏻
