I fucking love this video. There's a moment in the first chorus when the lights go on the crowd and I think it's the first time the band sees how insanely huge the mass of people is. You can hear their whole performance change after this song due to the lift they got from it. Amazing moment in one of the best Glastonbury headlining sets ever.
Followed since the start.... without a doubt THE BEST band around I was there 92 & 94. Something like 3-400,000 fans singing along. Gladsto at its very best
Levellers are truly awesome live. If you don’t have the app, highly recommend it, they are a fantastic group of guys and very engaging. Keep well all. We the collective x
Saw them live twice in the space of 3 years - first time amazing (as expected), second time they were headlining a festival and they played an acoustic set - talk about misjudgement - went down dysentery on the international space station. Always great to see Garth on keyboards though.
1994, I was in that mosh pit, I'll remember that night til the day I die.brought a lump to the throat and a tear to my eye watching that, thanks for sharing
We'd had a hell of a journey, struggled to find a place to pitch the tents, wished we hadn't bothered, then drifted down to the main stage to hear this set. Instantly converted to levellers fans, which we've been for the last 28 years.
@@carolrossi60 oh man, I envy you! I got the privilege of watching them last year before lockdown and oh my god. I wanted to cry. They were amazing, I can’t imagine what it was like here!
@@AndrewCockerillPhotography Glastonbury has given me so many happy memories it's magical....the music and atmosphere are out of this world....dont know how long my recovery would be now though 😉😀😀
I saw this band on a whim a few years back in Glasgow as I had hazy recollections of liking them and wow what a gig. All those great tunes came flooding back to me. Best gig I've ever been to easily.
Takes me back to a time when we were still invincible, bound to conquer the world, dreaming up better futures, shifting paradigms, believing that together, nothing could stop us, forming our own reality, not taking for granted, what's been told to us.
Wow, this brings back memories! This was the first Levellers gig that I was allowed to go to by myself (had always gone with my parents before then, and still had to meet up with them afterwards!)I was down at the front and I just remember the excitement of being there and the noise of the crowd and it being one of the best Levellers gigs I have ever been to! I have seen them about 100 times since and I will be there tomorrow night too!!
17 years it's been since I was front and centre for this song and even after all that time the memory is still as bright as it always was. We weren't singing a chorus to a great song that night we were chanting the battle cry of a generation. I look around now and I see a world not too different to how it was back then. Maybe we lost our dream to cynicism, maybe it's too late for us to escape the trap we made for ourselves. Don't waste your dream young ones, push the world until it gives.
Love listening to the levellers, reminds me of being a kid again. My dad used to love them so always had them on. Although now I prefer dubstep, Drum & Bass etc I still love listening to the levellers! Top band!
saw them for the first time last week in sunny brighton, such a fantastic community spirit that night, and when they encored with devil goes down to georgia just blew me away,an unforgettable night
This band holds the record of performing to the largest crowd at any iteration of the Glastonbury festival. The record, set in 1994, stands today at 300,000 people.
What a load of absolute bullshit. The crowd for The Prodigy in 97 was bigger, so was the crowd for David Bowie in 2000. I'd love to know how you think 300,000 people watched the levellers when there was only 200,000 people- at the most- on the entire fucking site. 🍄
my dad bought me an album when i was six, i think it was levelling the land, it was awsome and since then i kept listening to alternative music, i kinda left this band behind, never realizing that they would perform this good at a concert, best i've seen so far... now, 13 years later, i randomly picked it up again and sure im going to camp the internet untill i find out if they are going to perform somewhere near now, awsome band, LIVE PERFORMANCE SOUNDS LIKE A BONUS VERSION OF THE ORIGIONAL!!
