Wow! What an amazing place to get to check out, thank's for the experience! I live in the USA, so it's really a treat to get to see all these cool places. Nights like this, when I can't sleep I go to your videos and just let them play. Oh yeah, before I forget, your music choices are fantastic! One of the buildings totally made me think of some Zeppelin, lol. As always, such great work...your Pro's!! Thanks for giving me this journey!
TeEnZiE so where is the mortuary I was really looking forward to seeing it some kind of weirdo like that and I love the house the architecture is beautiful in those textured ceilings oh my god Absolutely b e a utiful
well that or you can just turn it to a museum of psychiatrics. Other than that, it does looks great. It can be great to be a boarding home, hotel or a mansion. As prices on castles did tend to drop less than 10s of millions of GBPs.
I just love how you've edited your videos! I recently uploaded my exploration of an abandoned mansion in America, Reidsville, North Carolina. Seeing your videos makes me want to take mine down and actually edit it lol. You've got a real talent, keep it up, thanks!
It saddens me to think that a place this exquisite and spacious is just sitting there rotting away :( It seems like that all over the world though.......
When I was travelling back in the 80's I got caught out and got stuck in this small town as it was getting dark. Having no where to stay and not having much money I started wandering about. And found a disused hospital. Man alive that was the worst nights sleep I have ever had. The wind picked up, lightning outside, and the placed was littered with crap of all sorts. In the morning I found some old records of patients and also some crazy things used I believe to punish wrongdoers, including a hockey mask with the name "The Punisher" written in sharpie on the outside. I didn't book another night.
I enjoyed strolling through this old place with you. I also like the music, and lack of talking all the way through, as it gives us a different experience.
It's criminal that places like this are left to rot - it's our national heritage - Mr Salmond, do something! Would be interesting to see what is in these lockers if you could find the combinations! Great video as always.
Thanks for this, it is a stunning building with excellent ceilings, design etc. However, if I were able to afford to do up a historical old building it wouldn't be this one....I'd find the psychiatric provenance too creepy and probably haunted by miserable ghosts too........eerie
my word its a great wonder the salvalge people have not been there...all those beautifull fireplaces...moldings and woodwork would have gone by now....hope someone restores it.
Although I really love your videos, I'm always thinking that you could capture good EVPs if you gave us the real sounds of the places you go to. Excuse my English. I'm Brazilian.
Hey TeEnZIE! Your vids are really cool im finding myself getting really interested in this urban exploring stuff! I have been to banghour and hartwood hospital and that got me right into it :)! I was wondering how you managed how to find out where all these places are? I have subscribed to your channel to!
Oh my gosh this is insane! (no pun intended). I'm sure you've mentioned it but I can't seem to find it in the comments - do you know the name of this hospital? or the rough location? Gosh the room at 4:37 would be perfect for a photo/film shoot! Thanks for your help.
I've been passing by this place for about 40 years on my way to one of my favourite fishing spots. After 1983 it became a nursing home up until a few years ago but i think it's undergoing a refurb right now. Who knows but if anyone is interested then here's some info St Charles' Certified Institution for 'mentally defective Catholic children' was opened in June 1916 at Marham House, Broomhill, Partick, under the administration of a Committee of Managers appointed by the Archbishop of Glasgow. The Institution was established for the maintenance of children within the area of the Glasgow Archdiocese and was funded by the parish and school boards for the area in Ayrshire, Dumbartonshire, Lanarkshire, Renfrewshire and Stirlingshire. The Sisters of St Vincent de Paul staffed the institution and there was provision for 63 children. The Commissioner of the General Board of Control's report in December 1916 stated that 'The managers are to be congratulated on the admirable arrangements which they have made for the comfort of the children....In all respects the institution has made an excellent beginning'. In 1925 the hospital was moved to Carstairs. St Charles' institution closed in 1983.
this only makes me want to go around the world even more and explore places. my dream is to honestly just do stuff like this for fun and mabey a living :o keep up the.. uh exploration c:
I just found your channel and love it! I also live in Scotland and love visiting abandoned buildings :') I was wondering if this is Birkwood Hospital? I visited recently but the main building was fenced off for restoration so we could only get into the smaller side buildings dotted around.
"The mysterious crumbling of one of Britain's 'most haunted' castles is due to angry spirits who were against the property being turned into flats, paranormal experts believe" :D
I know, can't believe I missed them. I didn't know about the salon, and I think the doors leading the staircase have been boarded up shut as we couldn't get in a couple of the doors
There are many reasons places like this get abandoned. One of the biggest is the rising costs of up keep as they age. Buildings like this have to be brought up to local building codes at some point and the cost can be a back breaker because you have to tear out the old as well as adding the new. Also property taxes on such a big place can be astronomical. It really does become necessary sometimes to abandon them or tear down and rebuild whether you want to or not.
there were alot of keys laying in a pile on the floor, so I hung some of them up lol i wonder what doors they were for though, I should have tried them out! :)
Im pretty sure i mentioned to you before but you need to go to Centralia!! :) we should get money together so you can go! lol its the real life silent hill, there is a very small population of about 6 people left that refuse to leave but the mine shafts where packed full of rubbish as an easy way to clear their trash. They set fire to the rubbish underground in 1962 and its still burning away today :) the ground opens with smoke and everything is left where it was when people abandoned it xxxx
Its both creepy in a way and beautiful in many others, I do hope whomever has ownership of it will fix it the rest of the way up, it could be a decent building for any number of things to be used for.
Furryboots72 there was a psychiatric hospital at stracathro that was totally haunted. Me and a group of pals went ghosthunting from aberdeen there. Went when dark with torches. Abandoned building that was awaiting demolition and all the furniture was still there and a mortuary with the furnace and ashes still present and a bag of patient records. Definately presence as soon as i seen the furnace i was out of there!! Now demolished.
You need to go back to the spiral staircases in the tower as perfect and the hair salon in the basement which is under the main stairs. Good vid of ?????????. Cracking place.
So according to this, that castle was in use until 2002, and is now being restored: www.scotsman.com/news/scotland/top-stories/7m-birkwood-castle-renovation-reaches-milestone-1-3651153
So much still intact. Dishes and keys still there. Phenomenal ceilings and intact light fixtures.
Great expore! 👍

What a great place to film and investigate.
Thanks for posting.
imagine the beautiful apts or beautiful senior homes that could be made with these beautiful buildings.
Thank you for sharing - the architecture was outstanding!
WOW!!! Stunning film! Your camera work is superb. I have watched videos where the camera work was so rough, it almost made me dizzy. Amazing work!
Looks like it was abandoned relatively recently - it's not in bad condition, certainly salvageable. That settles it; I'm moving in.
it was abandoned in 2002 ive been there
Brandon Nimmo Did they keep you long? Ha!
Jc Linn haha no not long at all
well that or you can just turn it to a museum of psychiatrics. Other than that, it does looks great. It can be great to be a boarding home, hotel or a mansion. As prices on castles did tend to drop less than 10s of millions of GBPs.

It's criminal that places like this are left to rot - it's our national heritage - Mr Salmond, do something!
Would be interesting to see what is in these lockers if you could find the combinations!
Great video as always.
Just gorgeous crown mouldings. Look at the sconces on the ceilings. Just gorgeous! Are they gilded?
Another great find! Keep'em coming. The ceramics looked interesting by the way....
that building is positively beautiful
sooo happy the vandals haven't hurt it.
I love how all the dishes are still in the cabinet, and that there are still labeled jar and medicine vials sitting around. How interesting.
Thanks for this, it is a stunning building with excellent ceilings, design etc. However, if I were able to afford to do up a historical old building it wouldn't be this one....I'd find the psychiatric provenance too creepy and probably haunted by miserable ghosts too........eerie
i cant get over those ceilings :)
WOW just WOW, amazing video, loved it ! Guess what, LOVED the music too .....
Excellent vid as always. Hope this fine old building can be saved and looks not in too bad condition.
my word its a great wonder the salvalge people have not been there...all those beautifull fireplaces...moldings and woodwork would have gone by now....hope someone restores it.
Only seen 1st min but wow what an amazing building. Always on the look out 4 a place 2 go and have a 'mooch'
Gorgeous, keys were intriguing ... Always wonder about the story behind these places. And once again brilliant ;)
Stately and so grand. Needs protection. prolly won't get it. Very nice camera work Smooth and slow enough to be absorbed. Thanx.
Totally agree with you on that one. I think it would be beautiful restored back to what it was or close to it!
Although I really love your videos, I'm always thinking that you could capture good EVPs if you gave us the real sounds of the places you go to. Excuse my English. I'm Brazilian.
Sad news: About 1/3rd of the building collapsed in mid 2015. Savor this video as a record of what once was.
It's been fully rebuilt and refurbished.
Thanks for all the great vids , Pure Brill.
What an incredible building
What a beautiful old building

i find it so sad that a building like this with so much history has been left to rot and die .nice video
Very nice! Hope they will restore the building
I remember it well. It was the view from my kitchen window for 21 years. :)
The ceilings are amazing art
another great video ....I love all you videos keep up the great work :)
they don't make buildings like that anymore.
haha hopefully you'll get in soon! It's so dissapointing when a building is sealed up, but I suppose it saves it getting wrecked
looks like you make films of these types of places, very nice, may I recommend a steady-cam device, they do wonders.
Really awesome thank you.
great as allways...thank you..
Another good one. If I had the money I would buy that place.
Oh my gosh this is insane! (no pun intended). I'm sure you've mentioned it but I can't seem to find it in the comments - do you know the name of this hospital? or the rough location? Gosh the room at 4:37 would be perfect for a photo/film shoot!
Thanks for your help.
Brilliant Teenzie, reminds me a bit of a place me an a friend have tried to go recently but with epic fails, its not beat me yet though lol....
Interesting place, and just think of all those people who used to work in these places for years and the things they have seen. A lot of history.
Those colour paintings were spooky!

Wow all that woodwork and art should be saved somehow, what a shame to let it ever be torn down with all that neat stuff in there
Yeah I remember and would still love to go, maybe next year if I can save enough up. It looks awesome and so much like Silent Hill! :D
How do you get there bud

I just found your channel and love it! I also live in Scotland and love visiting abandoned buildings :') I was wondering if this is Birkwood Hospital? I visited recently but the main building was fenced off for restoration so we could only get into the smaller side buildings dotted around.

Nice Murals. I wonder if the Patients did them or an outside Artist hired?
Roslynlee hospital, was a long term psychiatric hospital, people died there hence the morgue, last I was there they had security and CCTV.
I know, can't believe I missed them. I didn't know about the salon, and I think the doors leading the staircase have been boarded up shut as we couldn't get in a couple of the doors
24 hour cctv :O That could throw a spanner in the works lol Great footage love the place personally. ;)

Is there any history into why it closed? It looks as though it hasn't been abandoned for long. It's still in quite good appearance.
Awesome....Good video
I live in Scotland, really wanna go here.
What are the chances of this ever becoming a private home again?
there were alot of keys laying in a pile on the floor, so I hung some of them up lol i wonder what doors they were for though, I should have tried them out! :)
