29:05 - it’s gonna be Requiem. That’s my theory! If they didn’t use Reunion for the Crisis Core remake, then I’d have said that. But since a lot of people are likely to perish in Rebirth, a Requiem in part 3 seems most fitting.
But Requeim doesn't fit with the scheme "Remake" and "Rebirth" do, and they've specifically said the word would match with those two. Reunion almost did, but not quite, I guess. Re-build? Lol. That's a stupid title but it fits with the scheme.
15:20 Ight so nerd that I am, I had to find an answer to this question. The original game on PS1 was about 1,327MB. Dividing that by 64, you get 20.57! Square would have needed, nay REQUIRED, 21 Cartridges to put FFVII onto the N64. Box of cartridges is right 😂 Wild.
I wonder. Maybe even more because they would have to duplicate so much Data if the Game would be on so many Cartridges. Then again they already did so with CD/DVD back then without HDDs. They already duplicated some Data to lessen the Search Times for those Devices. I still think them putting the Data to make Sure Fighting is even possible on a Cartridge would be more than what they did with CDs putting some Data multiple Times on the Disc. Nether the less very interesting Number you got there. lol.
@@flimermithrandir that’s true. There would have been a lot of that to figure out, and never mind the fact that you’d have to figure out how to transfer the players stats in between each cartridge, because there are no memory cards either. @@flimermithrandir well then I suppose they would have had to have thrown in a Memory card for the box too I guess the real fun is figuring out how much the N64 version would have costed not only the devs but the customers. It sounds like it would have been $250 or more
@@isaacddestroy3674 lol True. I think they did so with the "Expansion Pack" if that rings a Bell. It was a RAM Upgrade for the N64 and was sold with Donkey Kong 64 because it mysteriously solved an Bug. Guess they would have needed to do that in the Box and maybe also this Expansion Pack.
While Aerith Gainsborough is interesting, especially since Gainsborough means "a clever/crafty person from the city" which works since she's introduced as a streetwise character. But consider that her birth name is Aerith Faremis. Now whether you want to say that Faremis, means Family Restaurant (Fami Resu) or (Farimus) Latin for Lighthouse is up to you.
i recently replayed FF7 and got a gold chocobo, and was shocked with how fast you can actually do it. a lot of old guides say you have to rank every chocobo you mate to S rank in the arena, but really you need to only win a few races with one of the chocobos. you can grind a gold chocobo in less than 2 hours. of course...when i was a kid it took weeks!
When he said in a bigger picture, it follows the original story quite faithfully - that was good to hear. Also it's just awesome to see SE taking care of the fans and bringing FF7 back in max quality like this. I mean think about how good FF7R looked on the PS4 PRO before we got the 60fps PS5 version, can't wait to see the world come to life in Rebirth on the PS5.
I feel like you could have all of your save data carry over (items, materia, equipment, etc.) without ruining the feeling of Rebirth. The only thing that would affect it would be the level you transfer with, but that can immediately be scaled upon recognition of carried over data. It could be enabled in the settings menu before starting the game or make it function only on medium or higher difficulties. If you're playing the game on easy, your either a new player or just playing to enjoy the story, in which case neither is affected by save data or being a higher level. If you've completed the game, it starts you are level 10 or 15 instead of level 1. Additionally, the enemy levels/difficulty would scale with that as well. Enemies could have levels just like the player. Each area can be labeled as a "zone", and each zone can have enemies within a certain threshold of levels/difficulty. The starting area would remain low level (1-5) and the surrounding zones would be a higher level (5-10); additionally, the zones further from the starting area would be higher. With save data, the starting zone remains the same to let the player get back into the combat system and learn new mechanics that would be implemented, but the zone would immediately adjust to a higher difficulty. So if you player starts with save data and is given the "completion level" of 10, the first zone will be level 1-5 enemies, and the surrounding areas will spawn enemies at level 10-15 to maintain some level of difficulty but giving the player the overall edge since they would have strong equipment and items to carry them through it.
After finally beating the game I hope one day developers say "We wanted side quests like BG3" . I think the Witcher's 3 side quests are fantastic, but after BG3, I think that should be the new standard.
I knew 100000000% that you would bring up the Heavy Tank (Triceratops Tank) when asked about the hell house moment in Rebirth. I am also hoping to see that weird ass beast!!
I think aerith will die in the forgotten city... with cloud and the gang. BUT When aerith dies her subconscious transfers to the aerith with zombie cloud and zack and she opens her eyes at the end of rebirth. The third title will be called Final Fantasy Revive.
I do like 13-2... RIP to the artist behind the new bodhum song, origa (she did the OP's to ghost in the shell: stand alone complex) she made really good songs
So the FF7R is basically like Scott pilgrim takes off. Where's it's technically a sequel. So, the original events need to happen for the new stuff to take place.
The Witcher 3 comment has me stoked! I loved the side quests in that game. Even if they don't reach the same level of quality, anything is better than the side content we got in XVI.
Knowing the original FF7 OG and Crises Core made FF7 Remake much better for me because I could pick up on all these little clues of dialogue with multiple meanings. You could tell Aerith and Sephiroth had something very different going on with them. I also remember being on the edge of my seat at the end when they showed Zacks's last stand and just yelling ARE THEY GOING TO CHANGE IT???? WHAT'S HAPPENING! Without that context, those moments probably would have been confusing and I wouldn't have overthought about it.
I agree, but I see some people saying that playing crisis core ruins the whole experience of the remake, and that everything about zack will be explained in rebirth, I disagree with those people because even on remake the writers are changing the story and plot points, the remake is more like a reboot/sequel than a one one faithful remake. I doubt that zack backstory will be explained in rebirth that is why crisis core reunion was release before rebirth, and That is why characters are having flashes of events of the OG FF7 like is another time line. Story and plot points will be even more different in rebirth since zack is alive in another timeline that obviously will clash with the remake Reboot events timeline.
Witcher 3 basically has three tiers of quests, main quests, side quests and 'witcher contracts' aka monster hunts. It stands out because the side quests are good enough to be main quests in most games and even the monster hunts, which could easily have just been FF quality 'go and kill 3 bugs'. are well written and contain mysteries, detective work, plot twists etc. They really set a very high bar for Open World RPG sidequests on that game, but it is hopeful that they cited that as inspiration to do better.
The only thing from Witcher 3 I don't need is tracking down random materials to upgrade your armor. Because the completionist in me could not resist doing that, even for armor I would never use. I loved everything else in that game.
I was never expecting save transfers as the games release, but I do hope some day they release a package that seamlessly weaves all 3 games together, and re-calibrates everything into one continuous progression system. Also, I have always found it interesting that FF6 has never gotten a 3D remake, when 3, 4, 5, and now 7 have. Seeing his love for FF6, I wonder if they're thinking about a big budget remake. This team is very successful so there must be some idea on what to do after part 3. Advent Children the game? A totally fresh FF7 sequel? FF XVIII? If not, do you look to other PS1 titles like FF8 or 9? I think there is an argument to be made for FF6 Remake being their next project. It has arguably the best glow up potential in its sound track. It's often praised as one of the heights of the franchise, and of the platform it was on. It has the biggest cast. Imagine if they gave it a story, plot, and script glow up like they did for FF7. It would be a massive 2-map open world adventure. Perhaps in 2 parts.
What a fun interview! I'm with you though, Max, I'm also trying to avoid as many spoilers as possible. I've watched the first teaser trailer and have gone radio silent on most content since then - and I am so beyond ready for all the surprises 😬😬😬
FFXVI is a story focused character action game with light RPG elements. I've said it since I rolled credits on the game. I love the game. It was fun and hype as hell. But you can't convince me it wasn't a character action game. More on topic, 7R's combat is honestly what I wish was SE's gold standard for the FF series.

“Why are the re releasing crisis core and spoiling the cloud reveal?” So they can milk the fanbase for cash again. I love how the actual reason is never stated when these questions get asked.
26:25 He's asking this question jokingly, but it looks like Hamaguchi didn't understand that he didn't literally mean "safer". It's just my guess but I'm thinking Sephiroth's final form better translates to "Seraph" Sephiroth, and Hamaguchi didn't know it's named Safer in the English translation?
It was. The interviewer was an idiot who has no idea about language. He probably just asked all his stupid questions to an unseen interpreter who they cut.
In Witcher 3 I came across a Ghost Whale. On land. I think it's from one of those easily missable side quests (contracts?) you pick up from the town notice boards. That game, man. So good.
They could just do how trails series do carry over into sequel games. Which is mostly just exclusive starter items awarded to you. Basically it more so something like the exclusive items you get when you buy special editions of the game. It is not so "important" to new players that they don't really miss much by not playing the prior entries

When I was 12 I will never forget walking in and seeing my friends gathered around the TV hype AF just watching our friend Adam fighting Sephiroth in Kingdom Hearts for the first time
And I asked "damn who is that? He looks cool AF" and all of absudden everyone in the room turns and looks at me lile whaaaaaaat
U don't know Sephiroth??
U never Played FF7!??
And then instantly gave me a PS1 with a copy of FF7 and a GameShark lmao
Wow man just wow
Hard to explain how much that impacted my life lmao
This is more than a gane to me
It was my favorite story ever told.
First time I remember getting genuinely emotional playing a game or becoming this invested in video game/ characters
This month has been way too emotionally exhausting as far as this game is concerned💀
28:57
"Return"
Dood: Nah
Will this age like wine or milk?
29:05 - it’s gonna be Requiem. That’s my theory! If they didn’t use Reunion for the Crisis Core remake, then I’d have said that. But since a lot of people are likely to perish in Rebirth, a Requiem in part 3 seems most fitting.
But Requeim doesn't fit with the scheme "Remake" and "Rebirth" do, and they've specifically said the word would match with those two.
Reunion almost did, but not quite, I guess.
Re-build? Lol. That's a stupid title but it fits with the scheme.
@@SovereignKing yeah, you know, that seems like it would fit.
The third part is going to be “Reunion.” 💯 Ain’t no way it could be anything else.
Agreed
The title has been used already, though…
@@Astrid-jx5dw I have since made that discovery myself, as well. Pretty dumb, if you ask me.
That would have been some serious Banjo Stop N’ Swop crap. Suffice it to say if there was ever an exclusive that made sense, it was FFVII. Damn, it was so ahead of its time.
Well, in as much as the N64 was behind the times lol
@@isaacddestroy3674 I have to inform you that there actually have been Memory Cards for the N64 too. You could put one in the Slot of the Controller. Or you choose to use the Rumble Pack. Omg that Thing was heavy now that i think back to it. And it actually did Rumble. lol. But yeah, anyways. That would have been possible. Just very not Fun i guess, agreed.
We're so close now boys but my god isn't time DRAGGINGGG
Ain't that the truth lol
With one save/load method it can be done in 30mins (if you have all nuts, if not then maybe 60).
That damn prima guide lied to me! I still remember doing it the hard way when I was kid.
Dont even need to race anymore.
I really like the 13 series. All of them were good. 13-2 was fabulous.
I love 13 with all of my heart
When he said in a bigger picture, it follows the original story quite faithfully - that was good to hear. Also it's just awesome to see SE taking care of the fans and bringing FF7 back in max quality like this. I mean think about how good FF7R looked on the PS4 PRO before we got the 60fps PS5 version, can't wait to see the world come to life in Rebirth on the PS5.
That's good to hear because the last chapter in remake was a bit too much kh for my taste.
When he dropped chrono trigger... That gives me so much joy.
I can’t wait for the reveal of Tankceratops in Rebirth!
It’s interesting that he said his favorite moment from OG ff7 was Aeriths Fate and not something like “Her death”
Good Catch. And i agree with him.
FF7 Redemption.
Remake やり直し
Rebirth 生まれ変わり
Redemption 償い
I think so it will go like that.
After finally beating the game I hope one day developers say "We wanted side quests like BG3" . I think the Witcher's 3 side quests are fantastic, but after BG3, I think that should be the new standard.
Yeah! The triceratops tank baby, letsgooooo
Hellhouse battle was my favourite battle in FF7R. On hard it is even better.
I knew 100000000% that you would bring up the Heavy Tank (Triceratops Tank) when asked about the hell house moment in Rebirth. I am also hoping to see that weird ass beast!!
28:41 Final Fantasy 7 Dirge of Cerberus: Reloaded
I called the Whispers “Timeline Dementors”
That stuck with me and my party lol
Oh boy. Harry Potter reference. That's not basic as all hell or anything.
When they were handing out imaginations, did you just sleep in or something?
I think aerith will die in the forgotten city... with cloud and the gang. BUT
When aerith dies her subconscious transfers to the aerith with zombie cloud and zack and she opens her eyes at the end of rebirth.
The content i'm here for!
Me too!
The Witcher 3 comment has me stoked! I loved the side quests in that game. Even if they don't reach the same level of quality, anything is better than the side content we got in XVI.
We’re in the end game. I look at my Rebirth pre-order every morning & pray to it 🙏🏻
I hope mine doesn't take too long to get here.
I thought Max got to interview them lol
“I don’t want to be spoiled”
*Also got to play a whole ass chapter and boss fight before Remake was even released*
Don’t worry in a decade there will be a mod for it
NO SNOWBOARD?!?!? That snowboarding mini game was my favourite mini game in gold saucer in original.
No snowboarding was confirmed monts ago.
How funny would've been if Hamaguchi had brought a gucci shirt for this interview...
Also, we got confirmation in this interview that Wedge is in fact alive (which it was never confirmed in Remake)
So thanks for the spoiler interviewer 🥲👍
“Why are the re releasing crisis core and spoiling the cloud reveal?” So they can milk the fanbase for cash again. I love how the actual reason is never stated when these questions get asked.
Gainsborough is inspired by french singer songwriter Serge Gainsbourg
20 days for the launch and 11 days for the Junon demo!
Part 3 will be called Reunion, mark my words
26:25 He's asking this question jokingly, but it looks like Hamaguchi didn't understand that he didn't literally mean "safer". It's just my guess but I'm thinking Sephiroth's final form better translates to "Seraph" Sephiroth, and Hamaguchi didn't know it's named Safer in the English translation?
It was. The interviewer was an idiot who has no idea about language. He probably just asked all his stupid questions to an unseen interpreter who they cut.
That question you skipped at the end. He didn't even respond so, except a shocked look.
In Witcher 3 I came across a Ghost Whale.
On land.
I think it's from one of those easily missable side quests (contracts?) you pick up from the town notice boards.
That game, man. So good.
Haha you shouldnt skip that part max. Went to see and the reaction made me laugh my ass off.
I can’t wait anymore for this game!!! 😅
NGL Seymour had THE BEST Aeon in FFX
Holy Moly, Shinagawa is also my favorite part of Tokyo! I first went to Shinagawa in 2004, when I was 18!!
Good on my G for not spoiling during the interview
There weren't any spoilers, the reactions to those questions ended up being a joke.
Max recognized Hamaguchi's drip, and passed it off as remembering the SF6 questions.
The Tidus laugh was funny. Reloaded is a Matrix reference...
He didn't even answer the question you skipped. Thanks for leaving it up so we could still pause it to read it.
They could just do how trails series do carry over into sequel games. Which is mostly just exclusive starter items awarded to you. Basically it more so something like the exclusive items you get when you buy special editions of the game. It is not so "important" to new players that they don't really miss much by not playing the prior entries
We’ve been spoiled by the max rebirth videos. Soon we’ll have the game and be waiting for the part 3 theories. Then the cycle loops back around again
I wonder if they’re gonna have both universe collide in one game to see what universe is going to exist
You skipped two questions actually. He doesn't say anything in response to the "that scene" question, he just makes a face.
TANKCERATOOOOPS
Actually the name of the 3rd title should be Final Fantasy 7: Requiem
He didn't even answer the scene question lol
I never knew the chocobo cheat system, so I just grinded my chocobos forever until I could win X,D
