SIR!!! I THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH, FOR CLEARING THIS UP FOR ME...AS TO WHICH WAS WHAT! YOU WERE VERY THOROUGH IN YOUR EXPLANATION AND I APPRECIATED THIS VIDEO VERY MUCH!!!
If they are slightly unripe, they are still ok. Light purple, purple, and black are what we look for. Please avoid green or reddish/purple elderberries that haven't turned purple/black yet.
Pokeberry is the only look alike I know, and to be honest, they look nothing like the elderberry. When you look up a picture of each and you'll see what I mean.
@@nuttygnomehomestead I don't believe pokeberry is as toxic as they say, it is medicine. The natives knew this. It's currently being studied for use in AIDS patients.
Thank you! Great video!
You're welcome
Thanks for letting me know the difference.
You are very welcome.

@@nuttygnomehomestead Thanks for the video I was wondering can you eat the berries right of the pod like just pick off tree and eat them? thanks
They make the best jelly, and the dried berries are good in tea.
Most of ours are used for syrup, gummies, and wine. I add the syrup to my tea often!
I'm in Alabama and thre is a tree in my back yard. I'm not sure if it is elder. Can you help me?
Are elderberries unusable if picked not completely ripe?
