What is a Y Strainer?

Y-Strainers help remove particulates from fluid or gas flow to protect sensitive downstream equipment. The filter fits in an intersecting channel of the fitting, where it can collect dirt and debris that it traps.

is it worth mentioning, that it is good to loosen the filter retaining nut, temporally prior to fitting it in situ, as they are normally very tightly fitted, in the manufacturers factory,, to save distorting the copper tube, if you do not, pre loosen the filter nut

When cleaning filters, is it necessary to shut down the system? Under low pressure conditions, is there a blow-down option?
