"It's a car! Wind is not going to make go any faster!" Somehow I can imagine Hotshot drinking a can of nitrous, transforming into vehicle mode, and letting out a huge burp to make himself go faster.
Hah, yeah, I'm not kidding when I put "insert theme song here" at the beginning, I really would like some theme music, especially so I can make a real opening for the series.
You're right. I'm intentionally not rotating his neck or waist to make people think his gimmick removes that articulation. I'm throwing Jolt by standing him up and taking my hands off him and letting gravity do the work. I resculpted his face to have a silly grin no war soldier should have. I reworked his gimmick so it's hard to aim his shot. I added in the useless visor he only used in the show once. I repainted his colors to be even brighter and more annoying. Yeah, I'm making him look bad.
I did explain a lot in the video that it wasn't just the bright colors that got on my nerves, it's the bad articulation because of the gimmick, and I already said in another video I didn't mind the redone version they made for Universe 2.0 that is much improved.
It's kind of funny how everyone hates this toy. I mean, I can see how adult collectors wouldn't like it, but as a kid this was one of my favorites. I thought the flip out gun was cool and his car mode seemed cool to me. To be fair, I did have the repaint with flame-deco and a more mature-looking face, but I also got the yellow version and liked that too. I think that in the end, a toy is really measured by how much joy it brings. Some figures, like ROTF demolishor, really are a waste of money , but Hot Shot is fine. He may not make an attractive display piece, but he's fun. Personally, I think it's more of a theft for Hasbro to sell $75 masterpiece figures of no-name characters like acid-storm or charge stupid money for certain "platinum edition" figures which often have nothing that special about them (Did we need a chromed evasion mode optimus?). Armada really doesn't deserve the bad rap it got.
Maybe where you were. Here in New York, Hot Shot vanished from the shelves. My mom went to so many toy stores looking for these things. Smokescreen on the other hand…he was easier to find.
Yeah, that's exactly it(I know, old comment), he does suffer from a good amount of issues which is why he's here, keep in mind that Plastic Addict does treat toys that suffer from multiple things and is a bit of a sarcastic/commedic format, so always take that with a grant of salt, or well, enjoy it :P Armada was aimed at kids with gimmicks, I don't mind non intrusive gimmicks and neither does Tjomega, in this case they do drag the toy a bit down and they could've made a few things better, that's my only little complaint at the Armada Line, would love to see a reimagined rerelease that makes the toys just a tiny bit better but keeps the original ideas and transformations, making them simple but good toys, seriously, quite a lot of Armada Toys could, if the designes would've wanted to, easily have further joints that increase poseability and make those guys good, or just a slightly different shade of color.
how much hate am I going to get for saying I actually liked this toy? sure the gimmick was stupid but I still enjoyed playing with him and I actually didn't mind the colour.
Old comment, but you aren't going to get any hate, instead you'll get likes :P It's still decent but the point is that gimmicks are making him suffer for a good bit(even if the Armada design was like that, so if he had shoulders I wouldn't mind the toy at all and still would like to own him) as well as the face and color(which I've only seen on pictures), plenty of people do find Powerlinx Hotshot/Hotrod a good bit better because his face is adjusted and he has a better paintjob.
now, i know this one was bad, but did you know that he was actually a rushed mold? before this version, takara made one were he had a more complex transformation, but because of it, he looked like a football player, and his shoulder joints were really weak, so they had to think of something fast before the anime was made, so that all the characters would still look like there toy versions. but don't worry, next year we'll get a new hotshot with jolt WITHOUT the minicon gimmick.
@digioverlord It's for the Star Saber minicon weapon, since Hot Shot was a primary user in the show. Should have mentioned that was another reason his arms were sacrificed, so they could run a wire through them
what people don't know is that I did go into several battles with a grin like that on my face and won every time but no one knew because well you know my face doesn't exist unless I wear the mask
One glaring flaw I kept seeing in like 90% of these Armada Mini-Cons is that they look too cheap and single-colored. I can forgive the Legendary Weapon Mini-Con Teams a bit for their combination reasons, but they still aren't off the hook.
"a robot Hulk Hogan" so, he'd be like "if you're trying to give me a complex you'll have to do better than that BROTHERRRRRRRRR" I'll go home. And in my personal opinion, Sideswipe is way, WAY worse than Hot Shot toy wise. I don't actually mind Hot Shot that much, but Sideswipe... eeeeessshhhh... I still want it though 😂😂.
The thing about Hot Shot's face, in that toy the visor on his head actully folds down like it does in the Cartoon. His repaint which had a better color scheme came with a remolded head than REMOVED the ability to fold down his visor. I have both of them but luckily with the help of a screw driver I was able to remove the heads and switch them. Even this however does not improve the quality of the toy sad to say.
When I was little, my older cousin gave this toy to me, i didn't know about transformers at the time, and I believe it was my first one, aaaannnd I thought it was bumblebee until I saw the show......annnnnd he never got played with.......annnnnd now he's on a shelf right above a trashcan....
David Willis' favorite Transformer of all time!... Seriously, though, Willis is OBSESSED with Hot Shot. Creepily obsessed. Carries-around-a-picture-of-him-in-his-wallet obsessed. Has-a-shrine-to-Hot-Shot-level obsessed.
I'm actually appaled discovering all the hate armada hot shot recieved, I've been a fan of transformers for years and this toy to this day is my favorite. as a kid i thought this toy (amongst my friends) was the coolest out of the armada line. i cant believe people hate it! XD
supposedly, kids loved the Armada line for the simple transformations (compared to the occasionally complicated late stage Beast Machine or Beast Wars figure) and the minicon gimmicks appealed in many regards for "Two robots in one package" and the unity the bonuses gave as play options. Kids also tended not to care about articulation quite as much, hence why only in recent years has the line been getting flack.
OH and they made it even worse when they made the Powerlinx hot shot repaint later on. they removed the rotating visor and molded it in making it a solid piece of the head. not only that my version had stickers for decals that started coming off right out of the package. bad hot shot mold is bad hot shot mold. no use in trying to make it better
Ironically, armada Hot Shot was the first transformer that kicked off my collection. Even though I had X-Brawn, and Skybite at different points in time, I ended up returning them because I found them too complicated for my little 8 year old brain. Then I got Hot Shot in a happy meal toy on halloween, and getting the deluxe toy later. I get why he’s bad, but I can’t hate him.
question, do you hate the charicter and if the red and yelow were beter shades would u like the colors, also if this was redone properly complete remold would you consider it or do u not like red on yellow and his charicter?
Why does Hasbro keep implementing features that characters used only once or twice into toys? (like the saws or the propeller here) And it's good to see you FINALLY getting to the bad stuff!
oh and they remade hotshot and fixed everything wrong at least I think yeah I bought the thing but it got separated and now the pieces may be across countries now
he's in animated as well, but since they have him in classics,he has to be radically different so kids dont get confused. so his design is armada self, with a neck, and more blue(and yes,his shoulders still hurt)
Dude, his default stance just screams 'KICK ME IN THE CROTCH!'
It like kill me now so I could look better
***** Nah. It screams "WhY mY ShOuLdErS hUrT?"
"It's a car! Wind is not going to make go any faster!"
Somehow I can imagine Hotshot drinking a can of nitrous, transforming into vehicle mode, and letting out a huge burp to make himself go faster.
Drinking a can of JaAM
Hah, yeah, I'm not kidding when I put "insert theme song here" at the beginning, I really would like some theme music, especially so I can make a real opening for the series.

Loved the EVIL BOX. :D
And huge kudos for pointing out that Hot Shot actually has decent legs- a lot of people tend to pass straight over that.
But honestly, what poses can you do with bending legs and frozen arms?
You need all 7 dragon balls!
The toy may be bad, but my fond memories of re-enacting the mini comic that came with the toy will never fade.
I would rather be eaten by scraplets than even think about owning this abomination of plastic!
Watching this absolute classic while unboxing my legacy powerlinx Hotshot
Happy 10 years for the channel's whipping boy
You know what the thing is with bad toys?
There're also the one you tend to want most
Confession: This was the first transformer I had. It started my craze. I'm guilty of liking the One winged angel HAHAHA.
The latter of which is true for me, the former isn't.
I did explain a lot in the video that it wasn't just the bright colors that got on my nerves, it's the bad articulation because of the gimmick, and I already said in another video I didn't mind the redone version they made for Universe 2.0 that is much improved.
Does the Star Saber fit in the hand of the Universe Hot Shot?
Yes it should

Even though it sold like shit...mmmk
Maybe where you were. Here in New York, Hot Shot vanished from the shelves. My mom went to so many toy stores looking for these things.
Smokescreen on the other hand…he was easier to find.
babysinclairfan I don't hate the toy it looks fun to play with and that's coming from a 14 year old
Yeah, that's exactly it(I know, old comment), he does suffer from a good amount of issues which is why he's here, keep in mind that Plastic Addict does treat toys that suffer from multiple things and is a bit of a sarcastic/commedic format, so always take that with a grant of salt, or well, enjoy it :P

The clips of Hot shot from Armada made kinda funny.
You're gonna love beast machines Nightscream, he's WORTHY of plastic addict!!!
now, i know this one was bad, but did you know that he was actually a rushed mold? before this version, takara made one were he had a more complex transformation, but because of it, he looked like a football player, and his shoulder joints were really weak, so they had to think of something fast before the anime was made, so that all the characters would still look like there toy versions. but don't worry, next year we'll get a new hotshot with jolt WITHOUT the minicon gimmick.
I was#500 🤣🤣🤣👍 can't believe how old this video is lol.awesome review Tj.
If you mean on the TV screen, that was the japanese NES game for Transformers, I reviewed it for episode 10.
I want to buy one and make a good review without dissing it for once. Just because everyone hates it, I'm going to love it!
I liked this...
Granted I was Sevem...
A friend f mine owns one of these. The Bazooka axle broke off and Jolt has vanished into oblivion but, he still loves the slag out of the damn thing.
You had me laughing my ass off in the opening XD
Nice box.
I'm afraid you need to get all seven balls if you want to summon that Dragon.
@digioverlord It's for the Star Saber minicon weapon, since Hot Shot was a primary user in the show. Should have mentioned that was another reason his arms were sacrificed, so they could run a wire through them
I find it funny that you add Sephiroth's theme to represent how evil the toy is.
whats the name of the song that you play while your opening hot shots box?
what is that 'evil' music coming from the box? I like it
if this was one of the best toys you have ever owned, you have my pity.
what people don't know is that I did go into several battles with a grin like that on my face and won every time but no one knew because well you know my face doesn't exist unless I wear the mask
I feel bad for the star sword being with this horrible thing
Lmao i love the music from the little chest lol
One glaring flaw I kept seeing in like 90% of these Armada Mini-Cons is that they look too cheap and single-colored. I can forgive the Legendary Weapon Mini-Con Teams a bit for their combination reasons, but they still aren't off the hook.

i love this guy- part of my childhood. and the axelzooka rocks
what's that song you play when the bow opens and at the end?
Still have the Game Cube?
i loved it when you opened the box a million fan girls eep
love the use of lord sephiroths theme here
that hurts :( i recommend personally jetfire, obviously optimus, unicron, tidal wave and megatron
what's the music that played when you opened hotshots chest
That box is not for Hot Shot, it’s for the Emoji Movie.
TJOmega, if you don't mind, can you tell me the name of the song and the artist you had used when hot shot was in the chest?
The thing about Hot Shot's face, in that toy the visor on his head actully folds down like it does in the Cartoon. propellor is for driving over water or through swamps maybe?
I actually liked this character as a kid, but I'm glad I didn't get his toy.
At least Hasbro is giving him a new mold for the 25th anniversary line
I love the old episodes
so hot shot is more evil than Sephiroth?
David Willis' favorite Transformer of all time!... Seriously, though, Willis is OBSESSED with Hot Shot. Creepily obsessed. Carries-around-a-picture-of-him-in-his-wallet obsessed. Has-a-shrine-to-Hot-Shot-level obsessed.

thats like my brother :D
Great Video !!
the saws are for pushing the corpses out of the way so they dont ruin his
annoyingly bright paint
what's the name and artist of the evil music?
you forgot that jolt can use the dual cannons
what music was playing when you opened that box? :o
why do you have some scenes from armada?
Let's go Legacy Hot Shot
@TheCIScommander Yup, I've got it, but even the kibble can be dealt with so it's a pretty dramatic improvement over this one.
It was going to get a smokescreen repaint but it was cancelled
OH and they made it even worse when they made the Powerlinx hot shot repaint later on. they removed the rotating visor and molded it in making it a solid piece of the head. not only that my version had stickers for decals that started coming off right out of the package. bad hot shot mold is bad hot shot mold. no use in trying to make it better
What song was that you used when 'revealing' Hot Shot in his box?
HEY TJ WERE DID YOU GET THE GIANT MATRIX ?
nice preparation to explain your point. Got to give you that.
I feel affended. I've been a Hot Shot fan since Armada.
haha thats awesome, the advent children version of one winged angel! bahaha thats hilarious.
One-Winged Angel: Only use when dealing with pure, undeniable evil
Or superman
what is the song when he opens the box
It's advent-one winged angel AKA sephiroth's theme from final fantasy 7 if you're curious
what is the song when he opens the box called?
Final Fantasy 7 advent children Sephiroth's theme
Ninja gundam danke
+Nemesis Prime no problem
so thats why the starsaber toy had translutant spine running up it?
love the Sephiroth music. great review as always
question, do you hate the charicter and if the red and yelow were beter shades would u like the colors, also if this was redone properly complete remold would you consider it or do u not like red on yellow and his charicter?
how did you get your Armada Hotshot to do that music? I'd love it if mine had done that
I actually got him for a dollar at a flea market when I was 7, but he was missing Jolt and the missile
i had that same black chest as a kid, i would keep all the transformers that werent animated or movie in there!
why the fuck as jolt changed so much he used to be a red helicopter and now he's a chevey volt ? I dunno man
Um, about Jolt: Doesn't his legs split open to help him balance out better?
so by any chance do u have armada sideways ???
just be thankful we didnt get the one with shoulders bigger than universe tankors
this was my first ever transformer ever that i got in grade 2 as a get well soon gift after getting a surgery
What version of One Winged Angel did he use in the beginning?
The Avent Children version
@@AwesomeMooseSmile thank you
do you want someone to make a theme song?
Lol this is funny! I've seen pics and reviews of Armada Hotshot and he doesn't seem that bad. However, Hotshot on the show is a whole different story.
I'm guessing the colors on the video are just really desaturated because they look very pale and unoffensive
would you bash a toy with a few missing parts?
Why does Hasbro keep implementing features that characters used only once or twice into toys? (like the saws or the propeller here) And it's good to see you FINALLY getting to the bad stuff!
I actually wish more transformers were yellow. It just looks good
you need all 7 dragon Balls to make it work
Oh my god the fucking Sephiroth gag had me in stitches
do you still have that trunk? ill take it......but not the hotshot......
This is actually my favorite and most prized figure haha
You want a bad figure? Go DOTM Crankcase
he's back in Legacy..
oh and they remade hotshot and fixed everything wrong at least I think yeah I bought the thing but it got separated and now the pieces may be across countries now
was that game at the end the one ware u play as ultra magnus and try to find
prime?
Yes Its Called "Mystery of Convoy"
he's in animated as well, but since they have him in classics,he has to be radically different so kids dont get confused.
so his design is armada self, with a neck, and more blue(and yes,his shoulders still hurt)
okay, i'll make you one. how does a small spoof of the captian planet theme sound? i'll send it to your email.
hot shot was my first ever autobot and my favorite one
