The only Indian Animation based on Gods I like is Little Krishna. That show showed the entire story of how Shri Krishna came to this world and all. It also had fairly decent action scenes and a really good soundtrack plus it was made for a worldwide audience. Nowadays every show except for that is just showing a child his fantasy of having a God stay by his side and pushing him away from the darker truths of this world. The saddest thing is that people who are actually serious about animation, if criticises a show based on Gods, will get so much unnecessary hate because most of the Indians are super sensitive when it comes to Gods and Religions and that is one of the main reasons why Animation studios nowadays are focusing on a younger audience.
yes is India has potential but I don't know what we are doing. I am working on a story. It’s about a boy called Karan who wishes to find god and seem the truth of the world, it’s an adventure shounen! The power system is in which the god of this world gave earth an orb that they were asked to protect. But due to greed every single country wants the orb. The orb breaks abs scatters throughout earth and makes massive “radiation zones” people born within 500m of these zones gain abilities. Karan has the ability to summon massive metallic arms to battle with!!

Cause how the majority of indian audience is on the internet they know absolutely no quality content ans watch creators like techno gamerz only producing flat bland content with nothing special in it while being overly edited which doesn't improve anything at all trust me when I entered the internet for the first time my algorithm was full of cringy indian songs over 2 years it has drastically improved with high quality video recommendation of all sorts of various variety there are really few above decent indian content creators
I come from an extremely religious family. Only me, my sister and cousins are as connected to the modern world as gen z is perceived to be so I can sort of understand both the perspectives. You raised a very valid point. An epic story about indian gods animated by the best animators we have, targeting mature audience would do us more harm than good in the current times. If just one small mistake in the story or characters or even in the direction of the animation offends a group of people or some religious community, the entire animation studio may be forced to shut down. Our strength in number is also our biggest weakness. As much as there are millions of supporters, there are tens of millions of haters(unreasonable ones) too. But I would be optimistic and say that in the next 10-20 years when most of the millennials would be middle-aged and even the newer gen z would be responsible adults, we'll have a much more encouraging, inspiring and accepting indian society.

First of all they aren't forgotten. They are still mentioned in the Havans that take place today they are not just loved that much. The 'pre-1st century Gods' is also incorrect, Devas( Indra, Agni, Varuna etc. are Devas not Gods) are revered today and Lord Rama, Lord Krishna, Lord Vishnu(in their separate iconography), Lord Shiva, Mother Shakti were worshipped and their carvings are still there.

I dont think that Indian animation based on our ancient stories will have any effect on the Indian animation industry . The perfect example is the animated film Arjun - The Warrior Prince . Arnab poured everything he knew about films and animation in that movie but it had almost zero effect . Its a high class animated film which honors our ancient traditions relating to some of the characters yet offers a much matured story . In some places the direction and visual storytelling is so good that even live action film students can learn a thing or two about film making from the movie .....Yet few even know it exist . I believe that original concepts like Chota Bheem and Motu Patlu ( well they are almost 50 years old but still they are an original concept ) should be the way forward . Keep the stories indian but have them appeal to all .

First - you are right. that movie was dope and it did zero effect on indian animation industry. 2nd - at that time mature people didn't have that kind of sense that anime is also for adult. Actually i saw that movie on black and white tv and i am 22 now. And at that time didn't have that much openness towards world culture .now day by day indian youth are opening towards world . yeah bro....points u mentioned are absolutely correct and I also accept the fact that as Indian Culture is much diverse and large ..so it always have been a good chance for the Indian Animators to produce animations on such topics... But I do want to mention that anime shows like "Your Name", "The silent Voice"...which are based on love.. affection and teenagers...This type of contents basically attracts the teenagers. So for the Indian Animators, topics like Love, Relationship, And something like that...would also attract the teenagers a lot. Also..if Indian animations create some fictional stories like the....death note....one punch man....then I bet....they would spread worldwide and everyone might appreciate it! But..as you mentioned that for Indian Animators basically.... budget is a main factor...so they wouldn't probably spend so much money for such content creators... so yeah...this is a place where Indian Animations lack🙃🙃
Well said insipration and clever work. We as Indians only know very little about our history. Publishing houses only publish epics which are popular(due to economics) but their publishing content is not accurate and logical. They didn't focus on the originality rather than they only approve content which are easy to understand with no involvement of brain treasures and complex logics. They just focus on black and white shades and forgot to mention grey shades.

Point to be noted is that, mahabharat and ramayan differ from place to place and there's a question of genuineness of actual epic ( i hope you won't argue that it's history and not mythology ) With due to times, these folktale were ascended to generation through verbal methods, after very far someone made the text of it. And so, many regions of India has their own types of Ramayan. What I mean is, serials like Surya Putra Karn or Radha Krishn have highly modified the story according to their wish and marketed it.
The generation before us don't take today's innovative ideas seriously and always staying away from risks but i am dammn sure the next generation will succeed India in each and every feilds.

I think if a studio tried to make both type of animation on one hand a kid animation based on God and epic whereas on the other hand by using the money that came friend first animation based on Gods using to make a good quality animation with a unique storyline However I don't have huge knowledge about animation studios so my opinion can be wrong but I think if a studio do this then they can introduce a good quality animation in India This of course take time and not possible to in 1 or 2 days to introduce a good quality animation in India and I am glad that many studios are working on it and many channel like you are creating awareness about this topic

I just wanted to tell that making an animated movie in india is not as easy as in Hollywood. In our country no parent actually allows aan above 10 child to watch animated movies. As most of the population who watch movies are 10-20 and 35-55 in our country, The industry has suffered. First let's wait for our VFX to develop, so our parents understand the importance of learning VFX, animation, modelling. This would bring a lot of employment to the industry. BTW, I am learning VFX, animation, modelling and game development as an 15 year old to try and promote these industries. I just want to conclude by saying, till our people understand the importance of these technologies, there is no improvement in these industries
Authors can absolutely do that. Writing do not need any investment, especially for a writer (not even time--writers can understand). As for the story, if you showcase all the flowery things and just glorify how good the gods are, audience won't find it believable at all. (Same goes for the Ramayana animation of 90s. Some of their actions were illogical for foreign audience.) A better option is our magic. Just think about black magic, all its beliefs and all the juicy conflict it can bring out. Then there were those mythical, abominable, destructive weapons. If they are brought in modern world settings... Delicious! We have all the magical knowledge of vedas: human body (nadis, prana, vayus, soul, types of memory, karma, five sheaths of material world, yoga, etc.), Astronomic knowledge (Vedic Rashmi Theory), etc. Damn! There's no end!!!
The problem is with audience who still thinks animation is inferior. Even my friends say those were just graphics they don't know the animation creators put effort as much as live action creators do. Even my friends thinks animation is for kids. They don't know animation can be watched by anyone irrespective of age. Thats why one of the greatest animated content of India is not getting recognised. This point is to be mentioned for anime Fandom they will criticize even the nice Indian animation (ex karmachakra) the people of Japan during starting of anime they didn't compared with American animation they have supported that's why Japan is in top position now. So please support Indian animated content creators who are trying to bring mature animation( not the chota bheem ones) don't compare them with Japanese anime or American animation our support during starting only make the industry grow so we can get high quality Indian animation for us. Well , I'm in process of creating a comic called 4D . Somehow trying to create the God out of a normal human with superpowers that are scientifically based ( string theory ) . All to blend in a normal person becoming some sort of mythical creature. The story is dark , contains adult themes , and typically tries to depict the adult portion of how mythologies were created ( Greek , Norse , Hindu , Chinese , Muslim , Christian etc. ) Currently , I and my friend are not so capable of doing anything because we are in 12th ( PCM ) but hope that future holds good for us .

Anime ramayan was one of the most beautiful movies ive watched, it was maybe my favurite depiction in animated hindu epics. Sadly it was banned in India due to political reasons, if anything, indian animation should atleast aspire to produce something like that instead of MOTU PATLU. Ramayana: The Legend of Prince Rama 1992, great cast too, both hindi and english.
As for communal clash , it should also happen with today's cartoons like " bajrangi (aisa hi naam tha kuch ) " and " my friend ganesha " cause vo bhi ek god ke character ko alag perspective se dikha rhe hai , but koi isspe action nahi leta , kyuki vo soochte hai ki ye baccho ke hisaab se hai , problem isn't that we make a high quality animation about gods , and it doesn't have to be about gods , you can just tell about the normal life of an indian guy , no need for a good story , the writter just has to think about how he lived his normal life and write it on a paper and it's done , good animation itself will do enough to make it popular, no need for too much suspense , just like a slice of life anime , create a slice of life movie of just 1 hour , I'm 14 in class 9th , I'm not that interested in animating but I want to become a good writter when I grow up, so I can create a well written story that can be animated with what I have ( ignore this : and if someone wanna open an animation studio , don't forget to hire me as a writter , I'll work for cheap )

Making an anime on Mahabharata and popularising it world wide could be India's chance to enter the animation industry. Mahabharata is a great piece of work. The story is awesome and heart touching with really great moments. Anime could do justice to Mahabharata. For eg:- Imagine watching karna's death with a beautiful OST. People will literally cry watching this.

Kuchh time pehle hi mai apne friends se bol raha tha ki Roll no 21 ka concept on paper bohot achha hai par, storytelling 6-7 saal ke bachchon tak hi hai. Imagine Roll no 21 but with my hero academia level storytelling. 2022 chal raha hai, I think aj ke time "work nahi karega" "chalega nahi" type baate kuchh khaas weight nahi rakhti. Is time jab cinema global ho gaya hai aur duniya me log har tarah ka content consume kar rahe hain. Is time par inko radical level pe naye aur creative ideas green lit kar dene chahiye nahi to hum ek jagah baithe reh jayenge aur hamari soft power kabhi nahi ban payegi. The legend of Hanuman 100% to nahi par phir bhi ek achha example hai better aur mature storytelling ka. You can see indian dharmic philosophy concept Buddhism and Hinduism fusion with Japanese shinto in Japanese anime. Naruto is also inspired by Hindu-Buddhist philosophy. We have everything in india but we just can't able to make.

I come from an extremely religious family. Only me, my sister and cousins are as connected to the modern world as gen z is perceived to be so I can sort of understand both the perspectives. You raised a very valid point. An epic story about indian gods animated by the best animators we have, targeting mature audience would do us more harm than good in the current times. If just one small mistake in the story or characters or even in the direction of the animation offends a group of people or some religious community, the entire animation studio may be forced to shut down. Our strength in number is also our biggest weakness. As much as there are millions of supporters, there are tens of millions of haters(unreasonable ones) too.
But I would be optimistic and say that in the next 10-20 years when most of the millennials would be middle-aged and even the newer gen z would be responsible adults, we'll have a much more encouraging, inspiring and accepting indian society.
So the animators are waiting for a generation to die. Sounds dark, but its the truth. You can't reason with the people who have always believed that any cartoon = evil.

First of all they aren't forgotten. They are still mentioned in the Havans that take place today they are not just loved that much. The 'pre-1st century Gods' is also incorrect, Devas( Indra, Agni, Varuna etc. are Devas not Gods) are revered today and Lord Rama, Lord Krishna, Lord Vishnu(in their separate iconography), Lord Shiva, Mother Shakti were worshipped and their carvings are still there.

I dont think that Indian animation based on our ancient stories will have any effect on the Indian animation industry . The perfect example is the animated film Arjun - The Warrior Prince . Arnab poured everything he knew about films and animation in that movie but it had almost zero effect . Its a high class animated film which honors our ancient traditions relating to some of the characters yet offers a much matured story . In some places the direction and visual storytelling is so good that even live action film students can learn a thing or two about film making from the movie .....Yet few even know it exist . I believe that original concepts like Chota Bheem and Motu Patlu ( well they are almost 50 years old but still they are an original concept ) should be the way forward . Keep the stories indian but have them appeal to all .

Well said insipration and clever work. We as Indians only know very little about our history. Publishing houses only publish epics which are popular(due to economics) but their publishing content is not accurate and logical. They didn't focus on the originality rather than they only approve content which are easy to understand with no involvement of brain treasures and complex logics. Point to be noted is that, mahabharat and ramayan differ from place to place and there's a question of genuineness of actual epic ( i hope you won't argue that it's history and not mythology ) With due to times, these folktale were ascended to generation through verbal methods, after very far someone made the text of it. And so, many regions of India has their own types of Ramayan.
What I mean is, serials like Surya Putra Karn or Radha Krishn have highly modified the story according to their wish and marketed it.

I just wanted to tell that making an animated movie in india is not as easy as in Hollywood. In our country no parent actually allows aan above 10 child to watch animated movies. As most of the population who watch movies are 10-20 and 35-55 in our country, The industry has suffered. First let's wait for our VFX to develop, so our parents understand the importance of learning VFX, animation, modelling. This would bring a lot of employment to the industry. BTW, I am learning VFX, animation, modelling and game development as an 15 year old to try and promote these industries. I just want to conclude by saying, till our people understand the importance of these technologies, there is no improvement in these industries

Authors can absolutely do that. Writing do not need any investment, especially for a writer (not even time--writers can understand).
As for the story, if you showcase all the flowery things and just glorify how good the gods are, audience won't find it believable at all. (Same goes for the Ramayana animation of 90s. Some of their actions were illogical for foreign audience.)
A better option is our magic. Just think about black magic, all its beliefs and all the juicy conflict it can bring out. Then there were those mythical, abominable, destructive weapons. If they are brought in modern world settings... Delicious!

The problem is with audience who still thinks animation is inferior. Even my friends say those were just graphics they don't know the animation creators put effort as much as live action creators do. Even my friends thinks animation is for kids. They don't know animation can be watched by anyone irrespective of age. This point is to be mentioned for anime Fandom they will criticize even the nice Indian animation (ex karmachakra) the people of Japan during starting of anime they didn't compared with American animation they have supported that's why Japan is in top position now. Making an anime on Mahabharata and popularising it world wide could be India's chance to enter the animation industry. Mahabharata is a great piece of work. The story is awesome and heart touching with really great moments. Anime could do justice to Mahabharata.

Kuchh time pehle hi mai apne friends se bol raha tha ki Roll no 21 ka concept on paper bohot achha hai par, storytelling 6-7 saal ke bachchon tak hi hai. Imagine Roll no 21 but with my hero academia level storytelling.
2022 chal raha hai, I think aj ke time "work nahi karega" "chalega nahi" type baate kuchh khaas weight nahi rakhti. Is time jab cinema global ho gaya hai aur duniya me log har tarah ka content consume kar rahe hain. Is time par inko radical level pe naye aur creative ideas green lit kar dene chahiye nahi to hum ek jagah baithe reh jayenge aur hamari soft power kabhi nahi ban payegi.
The legend of Hanuman 100% to nahi par phir bhi ek achha example hai better aur mature storytelling ka. Ye show kaafi influenced hai Anime se for example Hanuman ji kabhi kahin phans jaate hain to wo flashback me chale jaate hain aur sochte hain ki PitaVayu ne ya Shree Raam ne kya kya sikhaya tha.

You can see indian dharmic philosophy concept Buddhism and Hinduism fusion with Japanese shinto in Japanese anime. Naruto is also inspired by Hindu-Buddhist philosophy. We have everything in india but we just can't able to make.
