I just found your channel through the short video section, and what you're doing is awesome. Definitely something that I share in common with you, and that makes me appreciate it even more. Have fun doing what you love, and be safe out there.
My colleague studies fish evolution and was telling me that the fish fossils from the Yorkshire Lias are famous with fish paleos because they are partially 3D and preserve important internal structures.
That fish/scale fossil find is incredible. Well done! It makes you wonder how many people walked right over that without seeing it, and how many reach of us have walked over amazing things without realizing it.
You’ve further inspired me to visit. That coastline is spectacular and how you’ve filmed it intrigues me. Congratulations on that fish fossil. Those scales are amazing. TH-cam has suggested your channel and I’m glad they have. I haven’t been disappointed. So I clicked like and subscribed!
Great find buddy. Very well done and deserved. Love your little videos and finds (now a subscriber). Keep up the good work buddy and all the very best of luck on your future adventures.
That's a really good find mate, as soon as lock down is over I'll be going to whitby, I've been a few times and it's just the best place for me. Good luck with the hunt but try to leave me a few ☺
Greetings from Texas that fish is a great find. Reminds me of the alligator gars we have in some of our rivers. I have subscribed would like to ask do you ever polish some of your fossils?
@@ForgottenFossils Thanks buddy, I had a brain fart and couldn't think for a minute. The fossils you find are awesome. I live in south Florida ,I mostly find shark teeth and whale ear bullas and verge, also ice age land animals up to about 20 myo .
@3:47, You identify the belemnite, but I couldn't catch the name of the fossil immediately below it (I'm a bit hard of hearing)--is that part of the end of a trilobite? And that articulated fish section--that truly is stunning! Well done!
Hi Liam I am at the stage where I have been hunting for a year or two and I have found some fantastic specimens that need prepping. I have saved long and hard and now have a substantial amount of money to buy my first prep pen. I have been looking at the zoic paleo tec range and they have caught my eye 👁 I was asking for your advice as you are more experienced than me. What pen should I buy? What pen do u use if u have one? Thoughts 💭?
I have a Ken Mannion TT but i have been hearing some brilliant things about zoic tools. I don't touch any of my rare stuff because i'd not do it justice haha.
Whitby Fossils yes I hunt at sandsend every 2 weeks. So is it the tt I want to be buying?? Because the one I am closest to buying is the cp-9361 from the zoic range. Do you reckon it will do the job?
@@ForgottenFossils Is the matrix hard or is it like mudstone? What kind of acid was used? I have plenty of shale cliffs here in northern Ohio USA, but only found one plant so far.
You should look directly into the camera when you were talking to your audience. Just found your channel. Awesome looking fossil. I have been finding a ton of petrified wood and I found a fossil of a shell the other day.
Additionally I m not joking, just contact london national history museum and tell them you have a perfect scale, skin sample of fossil if they say yes and it is very rare and they want to pay, tell them you d put in auction or consider offers of other international museums that you contact.. it ll force them to give you a top price for your retirement
I love fossils but dont know the creatures you mention other than the nautilus and ammonite(?). Wish you could maybe insert a drawing or picture of what you are talking about to help teach those of us who will never get to your area to find these. Please and thank you for at least reading this. 😊
Heyv man came across your channel at random i have place in alabama i have found many fossils similat to the ones you have in the video, including a part of a fisb that looks similar to the one in the video im gonna email ya and maybe when summer comes i can get to it again in the creek bed and send photos
I want to know what the other side of the fish fossil looks like so that we know we're not being scammed in the video. Because even when you "found" the fish fossil you didn't flip it over and show both sides same with the finished product you didn't flip it over and show us the finish other side or what the other side look like so I think this video is a clickbait video
First of all, stop putting music loud, my preference no music at all.. just you and tell us what you found , what is it type information, what you think rather than saying oh my god empty words like girls. If you don't have any saying then do not.. Tell us your experiences, stories, background etc..what tools u use, locations etc.. make it interesting..plus that scale of fish very interesting, someone or museums might wants to pay you so your contacts..

I often wonder how long it’s been rolling around before i found it out at sea
What an incredible find! I'm excited for you! The detail and level of preservation!
Thanks so much!
Ohh Liam, the fish is magnificent 🐟😲
I really enjoyed the whole video ⛏️👍🏻. One question: Was it an ichthyosaur vertebra at 8:53?
Yep quite a battered one
@1:38 isnt that a bone piece just to the left of the Belemnite you picked up? awesome finds man, keep the videos coming, new sub here!!
Magnificent. Preparation is superb. Well done.
Thank you! Cheers!
Amazing great job love the videos 👍👍👍😁
Thank you Jacob! Glad you enjoyed it
5:05 that dead one might have been a fish we in Germany call "Dorsch", because it has this little string under its chin.
Great find! Nice bit of operculum there as well. Well done.
Thank you! It’s my best for sure

Yes i do, very worn bone pebbles and jet usually. Thank you
Brillant fish find!
Thank you! It's so rare
Awesome video, was that a Baculite at 1:45? Butterfly is a painted lady.
That's a belemnite

@@im1withnature Be amazing finding shark teeth in the creeks. I have two lovely meg teeth but had to buy those haha.
I have some 5 million year old manatee rib pieces from a phosphate mine in Florida!

Thats the phragmocone of the belemnite. Really nice pyritised one. It was used to regulate the animal’s buoyancy apparently.
@@ForgottenFossils Oh okay, I got you! Thank you for the answer, I had no idea that belemnites had other parts, LOL. Never seen that. Cool beans!
Great find well done 👏 😊
Thank you 😁

Whitby Fossils is the tt ok? Can it prep ammonites well?
Because I can afford it
Ethan Hawtin yes it’s very strong. Is it Yorkshire ammonites you want to pen?
Whitby Fossils yes I hunt at sandsend every 2 weeks. So is it the tt I want to be buying?? Because the one I am closest to buying is the cp-9361 from the zoic range. Do you reckon it will do the job?
Seek and ye shall find. Amazing Specimen. Well done.
Thanks mate!
Beautiful!!!
Thank you! Cheers!
What a beautiful fish - dream find!
Thank you Terry
Thats a beautiful fossil fish.
Thanks mate, deffo one of my best finds!

They walk among us already.

I wouldn’t mind donating it to a museum at some point.
Liam how much did
They charge you to prep the fish ?? ..shout out from the U.S.A.
Thats amazing, looks like platemail or something. I wonder what it looked like when it was alive.
Would have looked so cool to see one alive
It looks like a modern tarpon.

An ammonite that's intact and by itself outside of rock is rare.
How much did it cost to have it prepared for you?
Looks like tire! The scales remind me of tire tread.😊

Ha! Don't say that, there's every chance you'll get another fish oneday, Liam!
These are rare rare rare! but you never know your luck haha
Stunning find! Love the vids but not a fan of the hammer nor chisel!
Thank you! How come you dont like the hammer/Chisel?

Thank you! Not really thought about it.
So cool
I’ve never found a fossil on a beach, you obviously got there first lol
Maybe this time haha
I love to prep fossils
Is it worth out?
I’d imagine so, fossils like this never really get sold.
ok you didn't show that fin piece in the short I no longer think this is a tire
Was my previous comment on this video deleted?
wowza!!!
Thanks mate!

Would you take $150 for that fish fossil, I pay shipping?
No sir :D

What kind of fish? How do you know 180 million years old? And why wouldn't you sell it to a museum?
Just based on the local geology. I'd love for it to go in the local Whitby museum for awhile.
Amazing find!
Thanks!
