It’s actually based on English just with heavy scotch Gaelic influences. If they speak slowly and annunciate clearly you can usually understand the gist of what they’re saying. My grandfather was born in Aberdeen but moved to the US as a baby so he learned some sayings from his family before they passed. For instance he would always say “Oore ye duin? (Forgive the spelling I’m just writing it how it sounds) which is “how are your doing?”
