This was just the info I needed, I've been tearing my hair out trawling through forums and other vids, good job and thanks!

Don't know if you intentionally omitted it but there's also Magic slave mode, which allows you to use any radar lock to tell your Magics where to look

I just played the first campaign mission and accidently entered AA gun mode (no other stores loaded). How do I get back to NAV mode (with waypoint cue on HUD) from there? I tried weapon select neutral and weapon cmd depress. That seemed to have deselected the gun, but PCA was still showing gun controls and there was no waypoint steering cue on the HUD. The only way I found was setting the gun to CAS, weapon cmd forward to enter AG mode, and then weapon cmd depress to exit. That gave me NAV mode back.

      This is quite interesting.
SO i did what you said myself and I did lose the HUD cue, but I noted the nav mode on the HSI still worked correctly giving direction+distance.
I deselected the weapon using CNM Neutral and I cycled the Gun Mode Button (bottom left of the Weapons panel) and got the cue back. This isn't ideal, but its much easier than cycling it to AG and playing with it.
WIll have to look into that.
