At the end of the video you changed the film simulation on Silkypix but you didn't show what film simulation you were using on Lightroom? Lightroom by default uses Adobe Standard which is usually very flat and muted compared to camera manufacturers profiles.
I just did a comparison myself between a Fuji RAF in Lightroom vs SilkyPix. Zooming in, pixel peeping, SilkyPix does a better job at bringing out details. The sharpening and demosaicing is def better in SilkyPix. If I feel I need more color control, I edit the RAF straight in Lightroom. If not, I’ll use SilkyPix to develop into a Tif and do further light editing in Lightroom. It’s a constant battle deciding which to develop with.
I'm going to download this for my X-T2. Although Apple Aperture only supports RAF's from Xpro2 & older cameras it does a way better job than LR. Like a hundred times better for sharpening & cleaner looking files. No worms & the files don't start by looking muddy like LR.
Isn't this just more contrast? If you increase contrast, saturation will go up as well. You can especially notice the difference in contrast in the blacks between the keys. If anything the SilkyPix one just looks more processed to me. But with these being the raw files, I don't really see the issue tbh. Just tweak it the way you want it to look. It's much more important to have a screen that displays accurate color and gamma according to what your settings are, imo.
The default renditions of the two software packages in terms of contrast and sharpening etc. are, not surprisingly, rendered differently. In my experience it is more about the worms artifact issues that may occur in certain images, probably due to the odd-ball sensor non-Bayer pattern thing that they did. The other issue is whether or not the jpeg renderings in terms of colors etc. are as nice as what comes out of the camera itself. That is what to look at in my estimation.
What I see the fuji have is the same as Sony have. A converter from another producer, however none is the main one. Neither Fuji have the main Silkypix PRO 8, nor Sony's has Capture 1 professional, it's like fuji a light version. The first one I used was Lightroom, then I switched to the Silkypix PRO 8 and got the Capture 1 offer I've never used. One thing I tell you, when I started in photography I was like you, wasted too much time on these details and imprisoned that only we see and no customer sees or wants to see. The other, you can think and do what you want. But open the set of presets you have at your disposal and see if you can compare with something or if they have a comparison. If that does not tell you anything, it is because what your camera interprets when it captures an image, also nothing tells you. In this case I advise you to pay more attention to the day you want to control what your camera does.
+Lonnie Gorsline at the end of the vid I switched to standard color in silky pix. I'll do some more testing. Silky pix seems to import with the jpeg simulations even with the nef file.
I understand, and don't misunderstand me I'm not a big fan of Lightroom either. I just thought it would be interesting to compare both processors with the same film profile. Thanks and keep up the good work.
I haven't used Silkypix but I usually convert all my RAF files to DNG using Iridiant X-converter but I have to do some comparison this weekend with some of my pictures ...it's a lot of storage to keep both RAF and DNG, but storage is cheap and I delete all the non keepers
WHAT ! RAF to DNG , ARE YOU OUT OF MIND ! .......That's like converting a WAV file to an MP3 then trying to edit the MP3 to sound like a WAV file again ...
Kimberly Norton Iridient is made for Mac the Windows vision is crap u here u haven't tried it. Dark table is free and does a good job. Also Affinity Photo does a nice job with RAF files I've found. Adobe is the wurst option
SilkyPix is crazy SLOW!!!! I suspect that with Lightroom you are looking at a Preview whereas with SilkyPix you are looking at the real image which makes Silkypix slow, slow, slow.
Are you fuckin' kiddin me? Comapre JPG's generated by the Lightroom (the final result of all the corrections made on RAW) and Silky Pix, not the preview of RAW!
This is absolutely pointless, you're comparing Silkypix to jpg preview in lightroom. This is a jpg embedded in the RAW file, processed in-camera. Sadly the internet is full of this kind of nonsense, please do some basic research about the subject before you make a video on it..
Keep in mind that when you are in Library mode in Lightroom you may not be seeing the full res preview on the screen. Try to compare in Develop mode.
Dude, you need to switch to the developer module in Lightroom to see the real image, otherwise you see a re-compressed Jpeg preview.

Thank you for this. Very helpful!
Great info. Thanks. If I have to zoom in to 400% then Lightroom does a fantastic job. Lr is much more convenient for the. .05% difference
Amazing discovery: You don't have to pick up every call that comes in to your Silly Fone. . .

Not enough reviews of this. Thanks. Peeper. All I want is to make a tiff. I have CS6 Photoshop on my drive, plus 5 and 4.

+Antonio Gois I agree !
Hi, was just wondering what you had the film simulation mode set on Lightroom?
this was the raw file so the "Adobe standard" profile. no in camera film sims
When you were using the SilkyPix program it was using a film profile. Try comparing Lightroom with the same film profile and see how it looks. :-)
+Lonnie Gorsline at the end of the vid I switched to standard color in silky pix. I'll do some more testing.

Seriously, why is your phone not in flight mode when you're recording? This is super amateurish in a bad way.
Silkypix problem..slow!!! i use capture one and it surfs flawlessly on my Macbook 12
How do the RAF files compare to Lighroom using Capture One?
Far far better, just no film simulations.
Iridient X-Transform converts RAF to DNG that work great in LR.
Unfortunately, I suspect that for many people, who have invested a lot of time/money into Lightroom, switching over isn't really that practical...
+Addsy yes like myself as well but it doesn't take long to batch process the Tiff's and suck those into LR
I haven't used Silkypix but I usually convert all my RAF files to DNG using Iridiant X-converter but I have to do some comparison this weekend with some of my pictures ...it's a lot of storage to keep both RAF and DNG, but storage is cheap and I delete all the non keepers
i need to try iridiant at some point myself.
I could never see the difference in Iridiant DNG files and RAF files. Am I missing something?

Proper432hz any software you would like to recommend that can read raw files directly? so i will not convert raw to dng? thanks a lot!
Corel After Shot Pro does an awesome job on Fuji Raw files..
Yes, but it is not supporting the new Fuji cameras, it worked for my old xt10 but sadly it doesnt for my xh1,
turn on camera profile in lightroom

yep its not a speed demon thats forsure

Looks good...and most importantly, it's free!
You have fujifilm provia loaded in silkpix, I doubt you have that loaded in lightroom. That's why the greens are punchier.
+Andrew C at the end of the video I change it same results.
Use Affinity
You actually bought one of Teenage Engineering's overpriced synths? :D
