Killing it Magnus! Awesome playing and tone. Do you remember the recording chain to capture this beautiful bass sound?

Thnak you Brent! This was broadcasted live on Swedish Radio so I wanem't involved in the recording that much…other than playing :) But they do have an SSL 4000 console. I brought my Phil Jones Bass Double 4. I'm not sure if they miked it or just took a DI signal straight from the MB-2…But the tone was indeed captured in a great way!

Hi Magnuss, great playing as alaays. How does the ibanez srh500f compare with the Rob Allen MB-2?

Thanks I’m glad you liked this!
The MB-2 and SRH500f have the piezo-pickup in common although the design is different. The MB-2 has a set bridge and the Ibanez a regular bridge with adjustable piezo in each string saddle.
I have had my MB-2 since 2011 and have played it maaaany hours. It’s super light and plays like butter. It has one of the nicest fretboards I have ever played. It has a single volume but the tonal options are endless since it responds to slightest variation of my hand placement and dynamic touch.
The balance standing up is amazing and it super comfortable to play because it the light chambered body.
The SRH500f is a super affordable option (~$800 compared to ~$4.200 for the MB-2) if you want a great fretless with a piezo bridge. I haven’t played it as much as the MB-2 and have only used it with the stock flatwound strings.
On the MB-2 I’ve always used LaBella strings and have had the Copper Tape Nylons for many years now. I feel those are the perfect string for the MB-2. Not to bright not to dark.
The balance and how the Ibanez hangs and is positioned is a bit further away to the left compared to the MB-2. Because of that the first fret is not at the same position and that throws of my muscle memory quite a bit.
I do prefer the slightly smaller footprint of the MB-2.
      Hope this helps a bit!
      Take care!

@@bassMAGics yes, I have the Ibanez with labella tape but I'm looking at the mb2 or marcustico. Is the mb2 neck deeper or thicker than the Ibanez, which is quite thin?

Are recording direct to sound card or with mic up amp?

This was recorded by Swedish Radio. Can't exactly remember but I had an amp with me but it's probably a DI and then to their SSL 4000 console! :)
