I’m glad you enjoyed that trip. I did the Trans-Labrador Hwy in 1993 from Labrador City to Goose Bay and back to Lab City on a mountain bike when the road was entirely on gravel, it was a great trip , did it in July and was lucky it didn’t rain at all😊 wish you safe travels 😎
Boy you are One Tough Cookie....... Great effort to get Chile back on track...... Hey if it was easy then it wouldn`t be an Adventure.... Have a Great 2023 Kinga.... :-))) xxxx
Soooooo many bugs. I'm surprised you took your helmet off. I kept mine on any time I was outside my tent. And they got worse, the closer I got to Quebec. My skin is crawling just watching this.
Love this video, I rode through Labrador myself this summer. Your video brought back memories of the scenery off the boat, memories of dumping my bike after getting stuck in the sand just off the road, and the millions of flies that greeted me every time I stopped. I probably still have a faint smell of Muskol when people get close to me now
I hope you camped safely that night, especially after rescuing Chillie. That was hard going. Was concerned even though I know you are a seasoned traveller and camper. Wishing you and your trusty Chillie many many more adventures and camping out in 2023! Take care. 😁👍 Love following your channel. 💛
Happy New Year to you and Ch' Kinga, I was tho' in pain watching you battle to pick her up, shouting at you to take the sidebags off to make it lighter to lift and also to brake the front wheel to stop it rolling away when lifting. But I am ok now 😉 well done 🤗
I drove the Trans-Labrador Hwy after the new section was first opened in 2010. It was 90% gravel and there needed to be several bridges installed. It was almost as rough as the Dempster Hwy back then and I am glad I drove it when it felt extremely remote. And that "expensive" gas station you mentioned was a really welcome sight after driving 420 km south since the last gas station in Happy Valley-Goose Bay. Great videos!
You are incredible and eventually triumph in the trial. It is a joy to travel with you, we feel like we are on the bike and the landscapes are great, you communicate your enthusiasm, thank you for this gift.
Oh boy, that brings back memories for me Kinga. I did the Labrador Highway in the same direction back in 2014 with a fully loaded R1200GSA, before they paved it. I remember the bugs and the mozzies!! Good camping spots were few and far between, so I sympathise with all your hassles. Bravo to you -- great work getting Chillie back on her feet at the end of day. Been in that situation before too. Fully loaded GS bikes are heavy!!
Menina ficou atolada nessa terra repleta de moscas... que bom que saiu desse lugar . Não achei que fosse um bom local para se ficar , mas é o que se tinha para o momento. 👀🤔🤗🥰
That sure didn't look like any fun being stuck like that! Wish I was there so I could of helped you get out! Bike doesn't get any lighter when your exhausted! Happy New Year! 👍
I had an Inreach when I did that road, but did check on the Sat phone option, only to discover that they only have a few, and they were all loaned out! :)
In 2010 myself and friends rode it. We were lucky because it was the first summer the new section was opened from red bay had opened. It was awesome, no one fell and we did as many side roads we could. Three klr' s, one gs 800. You would have loved the gravel road.
You can get 400+ ks range from royal enfield himalayan using 98 octane with Delkevic muffler. You then have the option to carry another 6 litres-3 on each side of the tank carrier giving you more range. Just thought I'd mention it. You must have a really good shock on the back-it would be interesting to put your bike on a weigh bridge & see exactly how much it weighs. It must reach a point where it effects your handling. I hate to think what it would be like if you had to pick it up from horizontal. Take care out there & have fun. Great video's as alway's.
Labrador flies,I heard of them, they're famous!.You held it together quite well.If ever in a situation with your bike where you are so weathered and tired to get the bike off the ground remember you can always find a straight dead log in the forest, pop it underneath and wedge upward in case the situation ever arises. With that said I love watching the enduring process, you are a Boss!.But if it ever comes to continuing the journey vrs. throwing out your back get that log.
OMG, that was a tough one to watch!! but showing it how it really is. Tough day but good job. I did that road the summer before you and it was crazy with the gravel. You are so lucky to have it smooth. FYI, I tried to get a satellite phone but they were out of them so I just had my InReach in case anything happened but luckily all was good.
Hey Kinga.! I am a subscriber, fan and follower from Cape Town, South Africa. I am camping in Oudtshoorn and did the Swartbergpas and saw your sticker on "Die Top". Actually looked for it because of your trip in RSA and got excited when I found it! Keep the videos coming 😊
Well done to free your bike without freaking out and even filming it! I would have become crazy and throw the camera and kick the bike 😂😂 Little tip, use luggages, rocks, woods,...on the side of the bike to raise it up by stage to keep your back healty 😏😏
As an advanced procrastinator, I’d of left the bike stuck until the morning and cracked a beer😊. You did however, sell me on switching to soft sided panniers. BTW, the thing you ate your lunch on is for loading your broken down bike into a friendly local’s pickup truck. Cheers and Happy New Year, I’m enjoying your journey!
Dang Kinga, what an unlikely spot to get in to so much trouble, didn't see that coming. I mean it looked so dry and compacted. Well just goes to show you, sometimes when we go out of our way to stay out of trouble, we land smack-dab in it instead...😉👍
Congrats on finding a sign that you can pull over and park right in front of for pictures! This is a rare thing! It's nice to know about the Sat Phone being available. Not a bad idea. The Trans Lab has always been a daunting prospect for future bike trip plans for me. I'm kind of waiting until they finish the paving over the next few years before I try it. Your trip gives us a good update as to how the development is going in 2022. I see you got a camel tank. Those look like a great option for trips like these. The trans Labrador highway is a bucket list challenge for many riders in Canada so you can give yourself a pat on the back for successfully doing it. They really should give a badge or something to bikers that achieve this run! I'm sorry you got stuck in the soft stuff Kenji, that looked like quite a struggle to get out. I've seen other riders put sticks in the tire grooves too, but I guess you have to watch for sharp bits. Usually vloggers forget to film when stuff like that happens, It's nice to see you recorded the ordeal. Glad you made it out ok, there isn't too much help out there.
In spring 2012 I flew from Europe to the US. Very much to my excitement when we approached North America, the captain anounced that we are hitting land at Labrador. At that time I had already started planning for my 2013 TransCanada Trip from Halifax to Vancouver. I was stuck to the airplane window. And there it was: a thin, white line in nothing but forest: the Trans Labrador highway! I could even take a few pics, like when the road crossed over a river at an island. I later identified this as Wood Island. No civilisation at all visible. Wow! Then a bit more than a year later I was standing at that exact spot on the ground, at the bridge crossing over to "Wood Island. I looked up in the sky wondering if anybody up there would see me and how far away the next human is! ;-) At those times, the Trans Lab was almost entirely gravel. It started right after Red Bay were it felt like riding on marbles, they had used some really strange gravel for many kilometers, event the locals in cars complained. I had met an American gentleman on a Harley at the ferry and wondered how he will manage this. A few days later I was arriving at the pavement just south of Happy Valley Goose Bay - this was one of the few times I REALLY appreciated pavement. I spend an extra day there to service the bike just when I left another day later, I met the Harley senior again. Both he and his bike looked really battered, he had been down on the road several times."Oh man, I didn't know this is all gravel!" he told me. Now yesterday I read that the entire stretch is paved since summer 2022. It might have lost a bit of "adventure feeling", but I totally understand the meaning of paving the entire TransLab now.
I use an old Spot tracker which still does the job. I always keep on the straps of the hydration backpack so if I came off the bike I and I'm injured I can have access to it.
@@onherbike you did very well to get the bike out of that loose gravel but you won’t be saying that in 20 years if you are still riding. Weight is everything as you age.
Thanks!
Love Kinga, so honest and no aside to her. She is genuine, a great ambassador for her gear and bike. She deserves more recognition, come on guys.
Kinga is a legend. Full stop.
Thank you 🙌
I did this road 2 years ago and you brought back the sweetest memories
Ahhhhh the joys of solo back-country riding……….good times absolutely guaranteed 😊
I also found that the gravel pits, for the highways maintenance, in Labrador and in Newfoundland were great places to camp and be reasonably hidden.
The sat phone is a great idea. So many k's. So much time. Those flies! Crazy. Now that was a rescue!
This woman is the real deal!
Kinga realmente você é uma guerreira e não se deixa bater os desafios.

Привет! Ты очень сильная и смелая девушка. В Канаде, как в Сибири те же комары, мухи и пауты. Удачи тебе в твоих путешествиях.
Great rescue idea. You can see your adventure experience. Never lose patience. But those annoying flies... Cheers from Nürnberg/Germany, Günter
