If you're talking about the end of the film where a Troopers blows up a mountain then yes that must have been a grenade. The gun Zander carries is a different design, it does look more powerful. He does not aim for the nerve stem, he just shoots. At 2:35 there are loads of Troopers shooting a bug; it takes them 10 seconds to kill it. If the Infantry can't aim for the nerve stem when it's a metre in front of them, I doubt the Fleet can aim for it when it's about 10meters away from them.
Very well said, that's exactly right. When a Tanker attacks on Tango Urilla (where the Troopers go after we see Rachet, and right before this battle)you can actually seen the sparks from the antannae.
They do say in the film that to take a bug down for good you have to aim for the nerve stem. If you blow of a limb then it's still 86% combat effective.
There is bit after this clip where Rico in his anger after Dizzy's death where he orders for the planet to be nuked. 'Get onto fleet and tell them to blast that rock out of the sky!' Fleet then responds saying they have other plans... 'The infantry does the dying, fleet just does the flying!' or somthing like that.
When the Troopers were on Klendathu and Tango Urilla (sp?)they had a rocket laucheners per squad. They probably wern't expecting to be ambushed by the bugs so they travelled light. Also there were mines on Outpost 29, but that's how the bugs got in and killed everyone there (assuming that mine wasn't dug by the bugs themselves)and they probably did have equiptment there, but the bugs destroyed them.
I needed somthing that was roughly 4 minutes long and stayed at the same pace and loudness all the way through. Sorry if you dont like it but I guess we all have different taste. I am currently making a re-edited version of this scene similar to this video except it won't be a music video. Might be a while before I finish it but I'l let you know when it's done.
Yeah, I know. Centuries in the future and all the military have to fight a giant race of killer insects are cheap bullet guns and grenades that were old even in 1997 when this film was made.
Actually, the "tanker" bug spews a highly volatile organic chemical that it lights immediately with a pair of mini-antennae that release little electronic sparks to light up the compound. In a way, it's like an equivalent to the napalm used in Vietnam.
Yeah I know what you mean. This video was origionaly supposed to be a re-edited version of this scene, however the audio got messed up so I had to use a song, and this one was the only one that I could find that was long enough and the same pace and loudness all the way through. I am currently making a re-edited version with no backround music. Might be a while before it's done but I'l let you know when it's uploaded. Thanks for the good comment.
They do have hand-grenades, but they're limited to two each and are saved for anti-armor roles for the most part. The MG turrets more than make up for it, though.
Awesome video....the beginning of the assault was so awesome :O (but the weapons couldn't possibly hold that many bullets....could they? I mean, guys firing for like 1 minute straight on one clip...O.O)
Well the troopers in this battle didn't have time to set up mines as they had just arrived, and the troopers before them were possibly killed by the bugs before they had time to do anything. Who knows why there wasn't any mines before that though, or maybe there was and when the bugs were controlling people's minds they got rid of the detonators. As for the rocket launchers I don't know, it was a distress call so they would have likely packed them, maybe it was a budget problem for the film?
Stricken, by Disturbed. Sounds a bit better and not as bass-heavy with a higher quality playback than TH-cam can provide. Disturbed is an acquired taste. One of my favorite bands.
Theres a quote i saw in a documantary "in the future weapons will have progressed so far its a glass of water that you drink and all your enimies die... but wheres the fun in that"
I can only imagine someone making a game out of this where if you play humans for every 100 troops you have you have to fight a thousand bugs but every human is amazingly hard to kill
You honestly think that crap would be useful against the bugs? Those moritas these troopers are using have enormous clips and the caliber is at least 7.62.
obviously that was a grenade (or something), not a bullet. The gun that Zander fires is not more powerful, if you watch the movie it has this great thing where less people seem to be able to damage the bugs more than armies... it's just a movie, he also hits them in that spine thing that the dude shows in one of them demonstrations in the movie.
No i thought so too watch the move take screen shots and its the same gun, i double checked it lol but maybe the movie makers wanted it to look like it was more powerfull or something cuase... when is the fleet gonna have better guns your right about that lol
I actually think burning to death would be very painful, and that in real life it would take alot longer for someone to burn to death than shown in this film, but I suppose being ripped apart limb from limb is pretty bad aswell. Getting your brains sucked out would also be pretty painful. I think that the least painful death would have been near the begining of the film where Rico takes off a guy's helmet and he gets shot and dies intantly.
Ya i mean the film and all was pretty good but some scenes had ALOT of mistaeks for example at 2:45 one guy comes out of the ship and with one gun shoots a couple rounds, kills two on top and maybe wounds a third one when at the beggining and throughout the movie it takes like 20 guys to shoot down one little bug
i guess if u dont know what this song's about its ok for the movie but its about a relationship thats so engulfing its like your stricken with a disease.
I'm not talking about 'packing armor piercing rounds that can shred a tank on a semi-automatic'. I,m just saying somthing a bit more advanced. How does that make me a moron?Yes, I know that there are limits to guns carried by the infantry, but I don't think that the guns in Starship Troopers are up to those limits. If you look at Zander at 2:48 even his gun seems to be better than those carried by the infantry.
Zander's gun was possibly a better weapon. You can see that it's a different design, but why the fleet would have better weapons than the infantry I don't know.
Right at the start of the battle the general's mouth moves but he doesn't say anything. You can see it at 00:44 of this video (watch?v=2TWoay_nHBU). It might be what you're talking about.
@woo1693 There are far worse ways to die. Luckily though, they're not as easily inflicted as burning ;P The good part about dying while on fire is that it doesn't look that humiliating ^^
The one thing about this battle that made me mad as a kid when i watched it was those two guys in the tower that didn't make it! they were so fucking close!!!! god damit it made me mad lol

usually this doesnt go below who i rply to but its for jellybrain314 i dont think there guns shoot full auto and only certain guns ahve the shotgun attatchments
Prequels, you mean sequals right as Starship Troopers 2 was set after this, and in fact it's sequal becuease the third one hasn't been released yet so you can't hate a film you havn't seen. Or did you mean somthing else?
16 years later and I’m still
Coming back this ❤

Exactly, thank you Miikle89

They're making a Starship Troopers 3 called Marauder. It's going to be released on DVD soon.
They had lazer-type guns in the second but alot of people prefer normal bullet-guns as it gives it more adventure-style feel.
I needed somthing that was roughly 4 minutes long and stayed at the same pace and loudness all the way through. Sorry if you dont like it but I guess we all have different taste. It's certainly one of them, and this scene is probably the best battle in the movie.
One of my favorite song and my favorite movie. Nice work
this is awsome! Star ship troopers has always been my favorit movie!
I love the song/band and i love the movie. Cheers dude:)
This movie is full of epic win!
This movie was so epic!
best bit of the movie
Indeed it is.
amazing job!!
love it.
Yeah, I know. Centuries in the future and all the military have to fight a giant race of killer insects are cheap bullet guns and grenades that were old even in 1997 when this film was made.
this is my most favorite part of the movie
I always smile at the name Whisky outpost... it makes it sound like a place for drunks or summat. XD!
OMG the way they hold their guns are so funny. ....
By the way i watch this every day when i was a kid
i love this movie ItS AWESOME!!!

which one came out first the game or the movie if its the game then this will be like the best movie ever made on a game
Indeed.
The big guns are so cool!!
this makes a pretty good music video
i love how the dude when the first flying aliens fly past, ducks, then stands to shoot again, and gets decapitated.
It's verry good!
I'm pretty sure it was a film first, it was however a book first, written by Robert A. Heinlein in 1959.
hey i can hear the bugs bugs screeching in the background! lol awesome vid though
epic pure epic
The music is Disturbed- stricken
Stricken, by Disturbed. Sounds a bit better and not as bass-heavy with a higher quality playback than TH-cam can provide.

awesome

think thou if in halo there was a fight seen like this! that would be awesome
Finally a movie where they send more than 1 person to kill an entire army
ya i guess because this way they wont be confined into a vehicle with no way out like the base, it was a complete slaughter
You honestly think that crap would be useful against the bugs? Those moritas these troopers are using have enormous clips and the caliber is at least 7.62.
the first movie will always be better than the rest of them sadly.....5/5
At the end of the movie you see the troops have upgraded guns that have a strong blast.
It's because the sequals were low budget straight-to-DVD B-movies.
obviously that was a grenade (or something), not a bullet.

1:19 its the eco-friendly ladder of the future. Made of 100% bugs it will help in the fight against global warming, and humans.
If you watch closely they do reload their weapons, but yeah those clips do seem to hold quite alot of bullets don't they?
be nice for a new one, or remake of the older ones.
I always wondered this: why didn't they use the portable nukes they had on the first battle of Klendethu?
I actually think burning to death would be very painful, and that in real life it would take alot longer for someone to burn to death than shown in this film, but I suppose being ripped apart limb from limb is pretty bad aswell. Getting your brains sucked out would also be pretty painful. the weapons would look cool for a movie and adventureous when shooting at thousands of bugs
Ya i mean the film and all was pretty good but some scenes had ALOT of mistaeks for example at 2:45 one guy comes out of the ship and with one gun shoots a couple rounds, kills two on top and maybe wounds a third one when at the beggining and throughout the movie it takes like 20 guys to shoot down one little bug
i bet everyone in that fort where wondering, "WHY DONT WE HAVE AIRSTRIKES TO HELP US??!!?"
it called outpost 29 or whiskey outpost
im a big fan of starship toopers
agree
I feel bad for everyone who died but yeah those two guys in particular got it bad.
i guess if u dont know what this song's about its ok for the movie but its about a relationship thats so engulfing its like your stricken with a disease.

yeah I know it takes like a 2 guys to kill one bug lol but I dont know why they made the guns burst fire.
I wonder who would win... the Bugs from Starship Troopers or the Flood from Halo...
I'm sure it's online somewhere.
type this in search bar Starship Troopers Battle at Whiskey Outpost
good to see the old soviet DSHK machine guns in use in hands of space marines )))))
nice
lol good point
Nice dude!!! SUPURB!!!
speaking of rainbow six vegas 2 you can make the starship trooper marine guys out of the character custimizer if you get enough stuff
awesome fucking video man keep it up dude ur flying with this one its great i love it 10+
Zander's gun was possibly a better weapon. You can see that it's a different design, but why the fleet would have better weapons than the infantry I don't know.
this makes me wanna join the marines
I have no idea, possibly why it was cut.
Its like an officer's carbine or summat

i am just wondering...
WHY THEY HELL DIDNT THEY USE A GERNADE WHEN THEY PILLED UP!!!
Oh yeah, I don't know why I wrote that. I'll change it to 'base'.
You can shoot a bug and kill it, but you can't shoot a flood and make it go away.
The one thing about this battle that made me mad as a kid when i watched it was those two guys in the tower that didn't make it! they were so fucking close!!!! god damit it made me mad lol
cool
oh ok i was thinking....
ya i can see where your going, but i mean cmon what are the chances of 20 guys shooting the bug from all around and not be able to take it down, right?
Yeah, it's kinda similar in a few respects.

Flood definately
You're so tough, why don't you take a crack at those things?
"abandoned port" lol, I dont see the sea anywere!!!
I'm just replying to questions and comments by other people. It's not as if I flood the comments section with random crap.
Why are they just using SA80 rifles(base for the prop), no futuristic style guns?
@maxim17 10 minutes actually, I guess I must have been taking my time.
