great information, thank you. I recently bought some tomato plants from the big box store and they too are flowering, with a couple of fruits? Did you start your plants from seed or did you purchased this plant? I also have 4 cucumber plants I grew from seed and they produced tiny flowers even though the plants only had 4 leaves each and were only 3 inches tall? They have since grown more leaves and grown taller with no more flowers yet. Odd summer to say the least.
Great question! Typically larger seedlings from the store are fed lots of nutrients, but are stressed by having their roots confined in too small a pot, so they have the ability and the alarm bells going to push out flowers and fruit really early. My tomatoes, and the one I show on the video, were started from seed and not pot bound, not flowering when they were planted out (about 5 weeks ago). Normal for them to be flowering about now, although still a bit early for that, not normal for them to be so small and yet producing fruit! I think the plants, like us, don't know what to make of this weather and are bracing themselves for whatever might be coming next!
@@ellseykaygardens That certainly sounds like the most plausible explanation as any. Trying to plan anything a head of time is just a chore this season. Thanks for your response, love watching your video's. Have a great evening and good luck in the garden.
