I'm crying in 2023. For the boy I used to be. For the man that I am. For the people who have died. For the people who live. I cry for you and me. I'm miraculously happy and incredibly sad. I'm still alive and you are too. I'm glad we made it.
is a track about “the risen, the broken, and the damned”, people who have experienced hardship or adversity in life but eventually fight through it and make it out on the other side. The black parade in this song refers to the parade of people who have gone through suffering and have come out the other side stronger and wiser. The chorus repeats the idea of carrying on and carrying through the fears, even when it might seem impossible. The song encourages the listener to stay strong and keep fighting, even when things seem bleak. It is a song about hope, resilience, and courage in the face of adversity.
Lyrics When I was a young boy My father took me into the city To see a marching band He said, "Son, when you grow up Would you be the savior of the broken The beaten and the damned?" He said, "Will you defeat them? Your demons, and all the non-believers The plans that they have made?" "Because one day, I'll leave you a phantom To lead you in the summer To join the black parade" When I was a young boy My father took me into the city To see a marching band He said, "Son, when you grow up Would you be the savior of the broken The beaten and the damned?" Sometimes I get the feelin' She's watchin' over me And other times I feel like I should go And through it all, the rise and fall The bodies in the streets And when you're gone, we want you all to know We'll carry on, we'll carry on And though you're dead and gone, believe me Your memory will carry on We'll carry on And in my heart, I can't contain it The anthem won't explain it A world that sends you reelin' From decimated dreams Your misery and hate will kill us all So paint it black and take it back Let's shout it loud and clear Defiant to the end, we hear the call To carry on, we'll carry on And though you're dead and gone, believe me Your memory will carry on We'll carry on And though you're broken and defeated Your weary widow marches On and on, we carry through the fears Oh, oh, oh Disappointed faces of your peers Oh, oh, oh Take a look at me, 'cause I could not care at all Do or die, you'll never make me Because the world will never take my heart Go and try, you'll never break me We want it all, we wanna play this part I won't explain or say I'm sorry I'm unashamed, I'm gonna show my scars Give a cheer for all the broken Listen here, because it's who we are I'm just a man, I'm not a hero Just a boy, who had to sing this song I'm just a man, I'm not a hero I don't care We'll carry on, we'll carry on And though you're dead and gone, believe me Your memory will carry on You'll carry on And though you're broken and defeated Your weary widow marches, oh Do or die, you'll never make me Because the world will never take my heart Go and try, you'll never break me We want it all, we wanna play this part (we'll carry on!) Ngl I never heard this song till about COVID. I’ve always been open to explore music. I range anything from classical, country, rock, jazz, metal, rap, etc. I’d heard a little bit of MCR as my cousin grew up listening to MCR. But when I first heard this I just absolutely jammed to it. But then I really started to pay attention to the lyrics and I can really relate it to my life in the last couple years. I was just reading a comment and it basically said this is about those who trudge through shit and go on with life. I never truly realized that and wow is that me. I’ve gone through a lot of tragedy in the last couple years. My senior year I really fell into a state of depression after losing my cousin in a car wreck and my best friend for years in a house fire and it’s not been getting much better especially since I just lost two of my classmates who I also went to college with. But while I have a huge load to carry, I somehow just do it. It’s heavy and I feel it every day, but I carry on🤘❤️
Me when I was smol: OMG I WANNA GROW UP TO BE A MODEL AN WEAR HEELS AND WEAR PINK DRESSES EVERYDAY!!!!!! Me now: . Wears all black, chocker, tøp shirt, all black vans, black beanie, smudge eyeliner, and has red hair while screaming Føb, tøp, P!atd, Mcr songs.

I wish I lived through this era because It seemed really cool. Today at school kids yell at me and my friends, they say “emo emo!” Or really bad things like “oh you sh?!” And it’s annoying but whenever they do this song plays through my head. So when it happened today my partner and I sang shouted this song across the hallway. Possibly the greatest things to ever happen
This song will forever remind me of when I was 11 and I was in what I like to call a “closeted emo phase” because I didn’t dress or anything at all but I loved this kind of music and all my drawings I did then were always of people with missing limbs/eyes, injuries galore, lots of swearing, and characters that looked edgy as hell.
Hi guys, I'm a long time fan of P!ATD and I just really wanna expand my horizons into the emo quartet (P!ATD, top, Fob, and Mcr) (Don't get triggered if u think top isn't emo, I just heard it is) So considering I havent really heard THAT MUCH of Fob and Mcr (I've listened to most of trench and I'm gonna finish that album later, I love it oh and I've heard the mainstream ones + Migraine of top but I'm gonna listen to more) My goal is to hear all the emo songs, If not all most, wish me luck, this is gonna be fun, also this goal has no time limit, but preferably before next year ends
You know, having read the Lyrics, I think this song is relatively inspiring and uplifiting. I think it's the story of a person who, after learning their father is terminally ill, their mother already long since passed, and having experienced tragedy, loss, and pain, is being begged not to take their own life but instead stand as an inspiration to others suffering similarly, and the final chorus is the person remaining humble, acknowledging that they are continuing on, not because they believe they're some grand savior or hero, but because they wish to honor their father's last wishes and keep going despite everything, and the uplifting tone of the instrumentals near the end denotes that once they make it through their suffering, there's peace and happiness on the other end.
rest in peace bob bryar. if you are a real fan of mcr please don't look up what people are saying about him. don't even think about it or entertain it. just listen to these songs and enjoy. my heart goes out to bob and everyone that knew him. He was a cool dude.
I'm crying in 2023. For the boy I used to be. For the man that I am. For the people who have died. For the people who live. I cry for you and me. I'm miraculously happy and incredibly sad. I'm still alive and you are too. I'm glad we made it.

Would you be the savior of the broken
The beaten and the damned?"
He said, "Will you defeat them?
Your demons, and all the non-believers

And in my heart, I can't contain it
The anthem won't explain it
A world that sends you reelin'
From decimated dreams
Your misery and hate will kill us all
So paint it black and take it back
Let's shout it loud and clear
Defiant to the end, we hear the call
To carry on, we'll carry on
And though you're dead and gone, believe me
Your memory will carry on
We'll carry on
And though you're broken and defeated
Your weary widow marches
On and on, we carry through the fears
Oh, oh, oh
Disappointed faces of your peers
Oh, oh, oh
Take a look at me, 'cause I could not care at all
Do or die, you'll never make me
Because the world will never take my heart
Go and try, you'll never break me
We want it all, we wanna play this part
I won't explain or say I'm sorry
I'm unashamed, I'm gonna show my scars
Give a cheer for all the broken
Listen here, because it's who we are
I'm just a man, I'm not a hero
Just a boy, who had to sing this song
I'm just a man, I'm not a hero

I think it's the story of a person who, after learning their father is terminally ill, their mother already long since passed, and having experienced tragedy, loss, and pain, is being begged not to take their own life but instead stand as an inspiration to others suffering similarly, and the final chorus is the person remaining humble, acknowledging that they are continuing on, not because they believe they're some grand savior or hero, but because they wish to honor their father's last wishes and keep going despite everything, and the uplifting tone of the instrumentals near the end denotes that once they make it through their suffering, there's peace and happiness on the other end.
Completely unrelated to your comment, but your profile is so nostalgic for me
Thank you so much, but is it because you've seen that pbs kids show or played those online games when you were little? @@TheREAL_WatermelonCat
