Bruce - thanks for posting. I just got through watching your video up to Baldwin Lake and it looked like a trek. Based on your video, it didn’t look like full size pick-up (my 2019 Dodge Ram for example) would have a lot of success. Was getting to North Fork Reservoir easier? Also, what kind of tackle were you using to fish up there?
Hello Jia, getting to North Fork Reservoir in a full size pick up is possible. Nothing technical about the road, just a rocky ride up. It took me 1 hour and 30 mins in my stock toyota 4runner. The reservoir has a nice little pay campground (first come first serve). I camped alittle up the road from the Res. Getting up to Baldwin Lake is a bit more of a challenge requiring 4wheel drive and some driving skill as the road does have bigger rocks to get over. I did it with my 83 toyota 4x4 that is set up to tackle rough mountain trails, but I do believe a full size pick up will make it up to Baldwin Lake. So yes it's easier to get to North Fork Reservoir than to Baldwin Lake. As to fishing tackle I was using a copper hammer tone Dardevle Spoon single hook barbless. Have a Great time at either lake if you go & Thanks for Watching !!!
Hey Bruce. Enjoying your videos, but your shouldn't kill the wild Cutthroats. They are such rare treats along the front range. The introduced brooks, browns and rainbows have taken over their natural range. Kill some of those instead for dinner. Just one man's opinion...
The cutthroats are reared at hatchery, grown to catchable size and stocked into the reservoir. North Fork Res isn't listed as wild trout water so there weren't any restrictions. It's stocked with rainbow, cutthroat & arctic grayling. Every now and then I'll harvest a couple, but never from "Wild" trout waters. I'm mainly catch & release with a single barbless hook. One of my favorite small streams had plenty of little cutthroats 20 yrs ago, but now it's mostly little browns now, so your opinion is very shared and justified. Thanks for Watching !!
Great video! Love to camp up by the reservoir. Beautiful spot. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching! It is such a nice place. Hoping to get back there again sometime. Take Care !

Other tackle I used was Rooster Tails & fly/ bubble combo with elk hair caddis.
