I used to own six maremmas, now i have only 4, 2 are gone unfortunately, but I can Tell as somebody who owned various speciments of dogs in my young life that I have never had more dedicated, disciplined, sensitive, smart and harmonious dogs in all my life. They are a gift from God, not just dogs.
We are from New Zealand coming to Italy. We would love to see some of these dogs as we used to have them. Happy to hear from anyone that has some. Carl
carl maclean so Carl, I know it’s 3 years later, but we just rescued a Maremma sheepdog. We live in Canada. Koda was a stray, but we couldn’t resist having him. We’ve only had him 2 weeks and we love him already! What a gentle giant! I’m writing because my daughter wanted to name him Carl...haha. We ended up with Koda! Cheers Mate! 🇨🇦
@@anndalynnketellapper8296 Koda is a nicer name than Carl for a dog. We went to Italy and went to a place in the hills and played with a flock of dogs. Huge well breed ones. Sadly our two have now passed and we have basset hounds now. Thanks for replying. The Maremmano's are wonderful dogs. So protective and caring. We miss ours.
I'm actully so happy I have one. I have a female and it's a bloody giant it is very gentle and is really hyper when you play with her. And I love how it protects us from strangers. In my opinion there as good as German Shepards protection wise.
This coming weekend I will be picking up 2 Maremma puppies to add to my herd of goats. 9 years ago I got my first 2 Maremma’s ; but sadly I had to put one down this fall due to her having severe medical issues . With luck all will work out . And yes living in northern Minnesota USA there is no shortage of predators
vinetender I'll post soon name and email address of the right person to contact at the "Circolo del pastore Maremmano Abruzzese" to require it. Thanks!
If I had a family especially young children, I would have at least 1 of these to watch over the women and children. Of course something getting past the ridgebacks would be highly unlikely
The best dog to protect farm animals. If Well selected is protective and sweet with farm animals and owners and aggressive with wolves and bears. Also with strangers is very diffident. He is aggressive in is territory with people than don,t know and wold animals, but loss his aggressivity when he go out of his territory. He use a herd strategy if live with other dogs instead attack. This depends on 3000 years of selection on Abruzzo mountains. It is not a dog dor apartment , because in small spaces is soffering and can became aggressive.
The Pyrenees Mountain dog is a molosser, while the Maremma-Abruzzi (Maremmano) is a sheperd -- their coat is also quite rough to the touch, almost like petting a sheep. They are very similar in temperament, which means that at some point they are going to bite either another dog that didn't behave like they wanted them to behave, or another person that got to close when they were "Working". They are not dog for first-timers.
I found out on the app that my dog is 88.4% Maremma even though i adopted her from southern Israel...of course not pure bred she does act and look like this breed
I HAVE A MALE IT Saved me from a bear i took so many bites me n him fought like brother now im older hes my best friend mines not nice thought lol only to us

@@teriokeefe8733sorry for the necro-post but I was curious if you ever got your Great P. genetic tested?

Ralph Timpano Does your dog lives in a house or farm ? Asking cause im getting one to live indoors with us
@@Yotsi85 yeah my one is a house dog
Better than German Shepherds and I grew up with German Shepherds. Livestock Guardians have more and natural instincts in detecting threats.
omg....their my favvvvv😍😍loved spending time with them when I'm over at my uncle's place

So glad to hear that the Maremma can protect the flock from 🐑! 😉
How can we see / purchase the entire film? Well done

Would be good to see the main doco.
Life goal- get a German Shepherd, a Shiba Inu and a Maremma-Abruzzi, thus having an Axis of good bois.
IT is the white version of the carpathian sheperd!
If I had a family especially young children, I would have at least 1 of these to watch over the women and children.

Stupenda razza.
Poi a me piacciono molto i Mastini dei Pirenei , pastori del Caucaso, kangal, mastino del tibet. Ecc.

Is this breed same as the Great Pyrenees breed? Looks a lot like them, except coat looks slightly different. Great Pyrenees are also guardian dogs...

angelam no livestock guardian is a dog for first time owners really. They’re smarter than a typical family dog.
I bought a puppy for my grandaughter she is just like the puppy shown she is loverly we all love her

Dove trovo un cane maremmano?
Bravo à l' Italie pour sa protection des moutons et la protection des loups.
wow such a buty, I also own 2 grown up sheepdog
Nice dogs, but if you like sleep, the barking will drive you insane!
its a guard dog, it does what it does.
They’re guardian dogs, not guard dogs. There’s a difference.
this dog can kill easily a wolf
yes with cuteness
